see, right??? I didn't type what I was actually thinking. I was being good for a change. Sorry about the Pistons. I just watched the highlights and that was enough to make me sad for them, and for the fans.

The Wings are better than the Yucks, IMO. I firmly believe if the Wings had been 100% healthy, they would be in the Finals right now. We literally didn't have it all together, since we were missing key players (Schneider, primarily). Homer, Zata, and Bert were playing at about 50% of what they are capable of, when they aren't playing injured. Not an excuse -- just the truth, from my perspective. Ducks got lucky, from that perspective. I don't believe they could have taken the series otherwise. I will forever hate Pronger for trying to kill Homer (like I didn't hate him already?). To me, that was the "Cloutier" moment, and turned the series against us. Homer might have come back, but he wasn't the real Homer again after that hit. I hate that the Yucks will probably win the Cup. They might be gritty and all that stuff, but in my mind, questionable tactics should not result in the Cup being awarded to them. Wings always win it the right way - straight up and legitimately - so maybe I am spoiled. This is the New NHL, so maybe this is how it's supposed to be? The series also illustrates better than anything how weak the East is. I absolutely believe the Wings (healthy) would have blown Ottawa out the same way the Yucks are now.

You think me rolling my eyes at your post was flaming? See, you kick open the door for idiots who will actually believe that there is a connection between Dom and the Wings losing, and the Pistons getting their hearts broken in the playoffs. Poor Dom, can't even take his kids to a basketball game. I know you didn't mean to be derogatory with the Dom = doom post. Sorry for the Pistons loss... I didn't see the game, but that was a tough one to lose, for sure.

well, I agree with you, HC. But, I sometimes seem traits in players that others don't seem to, good and bad, depending on one's viewpoint, so who knows? I share your opinion that Kronner has just had his entire career's worth of weird injuries, all packed into the last couple of years. It simply has to get better for him, right?
-
maybe he will have better luck next season. A friend of mine was telling me that Kronner's not unlucky, but that he doesn't think about what he'd doing and puts himself in bad situations, i.e. reckless play, leading to all the injuries. He's a hockey reporter, so maybe he knows what he's talking about. I dunno.

yes, I am sure that's what it is.

Understand, you're cool, D. Pronger has a long history of trying to kill Red Wings, including a cheapshot attempt on Stevie Y which backfired, when Pronger ended up tearing up his own knee (playoffs 2002). Not sure if you saw that, since you started watching in 2003. But, it was poetic justice at its best. One can hope that sort of lightening will strike again, and Chris Neil will discover that physics stuff works on Pronger, too. One can hope. As for Burke, he falls into the Whine Gretzky category. You say passion, I say complaining. You can accomplish a lot of great things, without being a whiner and obnoxious about it. Bryan Murray, not surprisingly, comes from the same school of thought. They need to take lessons from Kenny Holland, Mike Babcock and Jim Nill, classy guys with hockey accumen to spare. But it takes all kinds, I reckon. Take it easy, D. Good luck to your Duckies in Canada, eh?

I don't think Glas is stupid, nor is his post. It's his opinion. You added the "meaning" to it, which is your opinion, I guess. I think it's unnatural for Lord Stanley to go to California at all, just as it was weird to see it in Carolina and Florida. Old School, here, I guess. High five, Rabs... we shall defend our Glas, right??

nah, D... I am much less impressed with Giguere than the rest of the world is, but he's OK. It's Pronger I despise, and I am sorry it spoils my opinion of your club that he is there, as does the association of Brian Burke, whom I also detest. Giggy is a little tooooo excited considering he wasn't exactly the reason they won. I know the Ducks haven't made it this far before. I think the Sens are displaying what pretty much everyone who watches hockey knew: the West is incredibly tough conference. Hence the Wings -- injured and depleted as they were -- took the series farther than they should have, really. Gave 'em a run for the money, as it were. The East is weak, hence Ottawa doesn't know what to do with the Ducks. Regrettably, having to face the Wings taught the Ducks how to win. They look very much like they did versus the Wings (minus Pronger trying to kill someone, I mean). Ottawa can't compete. I will be interested to see if the Sens play better in front of their own crowd.

I am willing to bet every guy on each side wants to win it for an ailing parent, a sick kid, or someone in their lives. I don't blame Giggy for the fact that the Sens handed him a shut out tonight. Good for him. He didn't have to do anything to win, and Emery nearly broke his neck -- for nothing. Not the Ducks' fault the Sens didn't step up. All the players are human. Who wants to see premature celebrations, when the series is not over by any means, it's just bad taste. But I've seen worse!! The poor sportsmanship I have in mind isn't Giggy, by the way. It's Pronger.

you're not alone. I wonder what channel will carry NHL hockey next season, with less than 1/2 million viewers in the US? Versus is bad, but it's all we have, those of us who care to fork out the cash for digital cable so we can get it.
-
well, yeah... Ozzie's ours though, and he was a rookie. Paddy is not a rookie and makes many millions of dollars to play hockey, even if it only has to make a dozen saves to win. Gretzky cried at the Olympics when the Czechs shut out Canada, too, now that I think about it. So, I suppose it's fine. Just not a reason to give Giggy the Cup. I guess I just don't think personal issues off the ice indicate who ought to win the Cup. If that's the case, then the Sens should be up 2-0 and not the Yucks. Elgin deserves better than this. But I am sure the Sens will feel terrible and cry over it, so... they deserve to win! I am confused.
-
I don't feel sorry for Giguere in the slightest. Can you imagine Dom or any Wing crying over losing? I can't. Not a reason for Giggy to act like he's won already, but I have come to expect poor sportsmanship from Anaheim, so I guess I am not really surprised. Selanne, I love the guy and couldn't be happier for him. But Pronger. No. Can't stand the thought of him touching the Cup. Maybe Cheli can go steal it, since he lives in Malibu in the summer.
-
Emery should have a game star for that performance. Not Paddy. I hope the Sens plan to play a bit better on home ice. Or else they're going to get swept in their own barn. Shame they're not even putting up a fight, when they came so close. Sorry, Ottawa fans, I really am...
-
There goes Giggy with his "I just won the Cup" celebration. He was exactly half as good as Emery, who did not deserve to lose. Shame on the Sens for handing Anaheim a shut out. What a shame.
-
being Burke, I am sure he will still find something to whine about.
-
too bad, I will be unable to force myself to watch Pronger lift Lord Stanley's Cup. He truly is not worthy, literally.
-
booo.... Emery doesn't deserve to lose this game. He should get the #1 star. And the Sens with all 14 SOG on Paddy... Can't win if you don't shoot and score, Sens.
-
Sens need to get it together and launch an all out attack on Pads. Think Wings, 3rd perry-odd, gm 6, boyz!!
-
good lord, Emery!!!
-
I feel that Giggy's luck is about to run out. Go, Sens, GOOO!!!
-
go, Sens!! Go, Alfie!! We need a Swedish captain to win it, since ours can't have it!
-
that's what I meant.
-
you would like it. Glas can buy us pints at the pub! And we will feed Pronger to Nessie.
-
Go, Sens, GO!!!! Rev it up in the third. Put the hurt on 'em like it's Game 6 and you're the Wings!!
