  1. No European Captain, but the odds look pretty good of that happening this season. Guess who the first European born and trained #1 goalie was who won a Cup? (back ups don't count)

WCF Game 4 GDT (5/17): Red Wings @ Ducks - 9 PM ET

I think the Wings are mentally prepared for this game, and that's what counts. Wings play smart hockey. Yucks will come out ready and will do their best to not make the same mistakes they made in the last game. The Wings won't underestimate the power of frustration and anger on Anaheim's bench and will also be ready. We are moving on from the incident with Homer, just as it should be. Justice was meted out, now let's play hockey. I just hope with "Prongs" sitting out tonight, the goonery will be less, and that no one on the Wings bench gets taken off on a stretcher. Play smart, play hard, Wings -- and you will be the victors again tonight! Let's go, Red Wings!!! edit: sp

OFFICIAL: Pronger Suspended for Game 4

of course, I am agreeing with you. I think I phrased it confusingly when I said Pronger meted out his own punishment when he tore up his knee trying to take out Stevie (who IS perfect in my eyes). It was perfect justice when Pronger limped off the ice and out of the playoffs. Sorry if I didn't make myself clear. I still wouldn't cheer over any injury, but I wasn't sorry to see Pronger go out that way.

Pronger Suspension: It's not about Game 4...

I believe the Wings have no illusions that this judgement on Pronger, while justified and appropriate, has nothing to do with winning the game tomorrow night. They will be focused and stellar, just as they would be had nothing happened. The Wings have momentum and kharma on their side, but that doesn't mean the game's in the bag. As I said earlier, the game will be more enjoyable for me simply because I won't have to look at Pronger's homely countenance for one game. That alone makes the suspension worth it. PS - Cherry is a senile old man, if he believes Pronger "pushed" Homer. Sort of like a wrecking ball gently taps a brick wall and it accidently crumbles?

OFFICIAL: Pronger Suspended for Game 4

I agree. Pronger was suspect long before he donned a Yuck uniform. I would never cheer for an injury to any player, but when he went after Stevie Y. (who is a god, and a perfect hockey player and who actually never did anything wrong in his entire life...) -- that worked for me. No mercy, no forgiveness, and after the hit on Homer, Pronger's truly dead to me. Pronger meted out his own punishment. 2002, Pronger tried to take out Stevie, so Stevie won another Cup, as it should be. 2007, he tried to take out Homer, and Homer.... well, finish the sentence for yourself. "No one knows" if he went out to intentionally hurt Homer? Seriously, now. Why should we give him the benefit of the doubt with his history of trying to take players out with dirty/questionable hits? The NHL thinks he's guilty and so do most of us here.

OFFICIAL: Pronger Suspended for Game 4

Everyone with an opinion voiced in a decent manner is welcome here. However, any fan of an opponent's team who comes here expecting us (Wings fans) to agree that Neidermeyer and Pronger should skate away untouched from what they teamed up to do to Homer is going to be very disappointed in the response. I wouldn't dream of going to an opponent's board and trying to justify something like what they did to Holmstrom, since it's indefensible. If this same atrocious hit on Homer happened to a Ducks player, I guarantee the Anaheim fans would be howling for justice. The only thing is, there isn't a single guy on the Wings bench who would ever consider doing such a thing, so it's a moot point. Both Anaheim players deserve at least what they got. Homer is OK, purely good fortune there, so we move on. Go, Wings... roast 'em tomorrow night!!

2007 Photoshop War: Red Wings vs. Ducks

The Magnificent Seven!! Swedish meatballs are the best... I am going to IKEA now! LMFAO!!!!! Hey, Matt, can you make me one of Brian Burke with his pazzie, too, or do they make binkies big enough to plug his enormous yap?

OFFICIAL: Pronger Suspended for Game 4

There is no comparison between the two situations. We lost Calder to the same problem with a broken hand but I doubt you'll find anyone blaming any player or team for his injury. "Reaching" is a nice way to put it. If anything, Wings fans are more likely to sympathize and wish an injured player well, with the exception of an occasional noob or random poster. You are guilty of generalizing and painting Wings fans in a bad light, as well. Pot, meet kettle. As for the reaction in the arena, I actually thought the noise was more of a reaction to a huge hit, not glee over Homer laying there bleeding. Once he was down, the cheering quieted, as I recall (did not tape the game, sadly). Anyway, at the Joe, when a hurt player gets back up and skates off on his own, like Homer did, he would get a round of applause. Did the Yucks fans do that? I really don't recall, I was too busy wringing my hands and worrying about Homer to notice. In an unrelated thought, but similar vein, I had actually forgotten what a dismal, whining, piece of crap Burke is. He has found a home in Anaheim, I see. My God, I thought I had complelely lost respect for him when he was mewling like a little girl during the 2002 whooping of the Canucks by the Wings. He blames Homer for the hit, because his helmet wasn't super-glued to his head??? I really am amazed, sometimes, at the depths of some people's stupidity. Pronger is an embarrassment. Plain and simple. The game tomorrow night will be a pleasure to watch, primarily because he will be conspicuously absent.

just ducky! Momentum is all the Wings' direction - let's use it to our advantage, boyz!! One game isn't enough for justice to be served but honestly, more than I expected.

    Holmstrom's new nickname

I always liked Demolition Man, very fitting title - he certainly can demolish a goalie with his talent for unstoppable deflection goals. I think Homer is the Wings' heart. Nick is a great quiet leader, much like Yzerman, and instills order and confidence. But Homer is the spark, the one you can count on to be a catalyst when it's most needed. Every single Red Wings loves Homer, I do believe. How could you not love this guy? I smile every time I see him on the ice.

    WCF Post-GAME 3 (5/15): Red Wings 5, Ducks 0

Dom is accustomed to getting no credit, so he will be pleased, again, if Nick wins the Conn Smythe... provided we get to that point. Dom was just as worthy of the Conn Smythe in 2002 as Nick, but that's the way it goes. Somehow, when Dom is stellar, his play generally ends up being attributed to the contributions of everyone else on the team and winds up having nothing to do with him at all... an interesting trend which I'll clearly never understand.

I guess all that was left by the end was Wings fans at the Pond? Great pic, it's my wallpaper on my computer right now...

    WCF Post-GAME 3 (5/15): Red Wings 5, Ducks 0

Dom says, "No!" 29 times. He didn't get much credit for it, as usual. just too easy, those 29 saves "Dominik Hasek, the Red Wings' 42-year-old goaltender, posted his 14th career playoff shutout, though certainly not his busiest. At one point, Anaheim had just six shots during a 30-minute span." I guess any shut out where your skaters score 5 goals for you could be called "easy" - but apparently the media missed the 14 SOG/saves in the first when the score was 0-0. Anyway, when do we get to find out if Pronger is suspended? I hope the league does the right thing, for once.

No one standing up to Pronger...

I own Yucks , yes sir. I refuse to ever dignify them again by calling them their proper team name. Much like I never pronounce or type Patty Wahhhh's name correctly, for the same reason. I harbor zero respect for them.

No one standing up to Pronger...

Wings did exactly the right thing, to hurt the Yucks in the worst way possible: they beat the snot out of them, silenced their yuppy fans - who will not get a pass from me ever, for cheering that hideous hit on Homer - and showed the world what a cheap shot, unprofessional team Anaheim really is. I kept waiting for Carlisle to call for a measurement of Dom's goalie stick. Homer coming back out there... well, I wish the Versus crew had panned the camera down the Anaheim bench, I would have loved to see the faces on the Yucks players. Any glee they were harboring over taking out our Demolition Man went up in smoke. Inspiring, to say the least! Retaliation, thy name is a shut out, complete with chasing Pad Boy from the net. Works for me!

I just call him a winner. He's in it to win it, never a doubt in my mind.

    WCF Post-GAME 3 (5/15): Red Wings 5, Ducks 0

I seriously believe the NHL/media will go to any length to disrespect Hasek... truly. What a joke. Marchant gets the third star for being the only Yuck to not spend the night in the box or try to kill a Red Wing?
  20. puckloo39

    WCF Post-GAME 3 (5/15): Red Wings 5, Ducks 0

why in the holy hell is Marchant awarded the third star in this game?? Not Dom? Homer is #1, Flip #2, and Marchant is #3??? Someone more informed than me, please explain this one....

    WCF Game 3 (5/15): Red Wings @ Ducks - 9 PM ET

oh, God, me too!! I love how the Yucks think it's OK to run into Dom in the crease. Remember how they thought they could get him off his game by being jerks and in his face? Can we say "back-fired", hmmm??? Dom! Brilliant stop on Selanne.
