anyone want to look surprised at a delay of game penalty by... Kopecky? I said he'd make an impact. This is not what I meant. Don't waste one of the two goals we'll get tonight, kill it, Wings!!

well, we've managed to avoid the box so far, that's good. They are putting some better shots on Giguere, too.

    WCF Game 3 (5/15): Red Wings @ Ducks - 9 PM ET

why do the Ducks get to whack Hasek with a stick after he's got the puck in his glove? Is this a new rule? And run into him in the crease after he freezes the puck? And why don't we go do that to Giguere? We'd get penalized, I guess.

    WCF Game 3 (5/15): Red Wings @ Ducks - 9 PM ET

right-o! and... 3) Stay out of the box (politely hand the refs a fresh whistle when they lose theirs) 4) Crash the net and make Giguere's life hell on earth, he's had it way too easy so far 5) Shoot, shoot, shoot!!! and I agree with whomever said the Wings will adapt to the situation and show what they're made of tonight. And Thursday. Go, Red Wings!!!!

    The Positive Energy Thread

Kopecky is going to be a difference-maker tonight (no knock on Calder - get better, buddy), Bert is going to be a force, Dom will be his usual self, and Draper gets a hat-trick. OK, that might be too positive. But I have been feeling that Drapes will get the game winner, for some reason. Wings score many goals, rather than 2 or 3. I know they can do it!!! Crash the net, boyz! Push Giggy in with the puck -- if you can, but that's quite a load. Dom weighs 40 pounds less, even without all the pads; it's no wonder Ducks can push him around. Go, Wings!!! Take 'em both!!
  21. the Wings need to make Giguere move, since we know he can't (or so Kelly tells us). Of course, being big - along with his pads- is helpful if the Wings just shoot long shots he can see all the way and get in the way of. No technique required for that. Crash the net, get dirty, make him work!!! True, Dom knows his own style and no one else will ever be the same -- or as good. JMO, of course. And God love Vladdy... he is an inspiration and "family." The Wings are nothing but class, I tell ya. I love it. Too bad any Wing doing that today would probably get suspended for it.

"...good luck Ottawa and take your best shotawa."

It was well-documented at the time what Hasek's reasons were for not playing injured. No amount of begging on the part of Sens' players and staff would have made the injury magically go away. Dom didn't play because he knew he couldn't be effective, not because he didn't want to for some bizarre reason. He always wants to play. I doubt that too many people are going to agree with you on this board that Hasek's a quitter or suspect in his motives, not after what he's done for the Red Wings this season. Sorry. Even if some members here privately think Dom's not such a great guy (despite evidence to the contrary), most are pretty convinced that he is a great goalie. Why would you expect them to post negative things about their goalie on a Red Wings board? Why would you bother to post it on a Wings board, for that matter? Good luck with Buffalo, I don't think they have enough gas left in the tank to take Ottawa at this point, unless a miracle occurs. But the Wings have plenty of savvy and skills, so it will be interesting to see the matchup - provided we get past the Duckies.

"...good luck Ottawa and take your best shotawa."

Of course there wasn't, thank you for the additional information. I can understand the blaming from the Ottawa fans, but I believe Hasek has put to rest any notion that he bailed intentionally on the team, be it Buffalo, Detroit or Ottawa. He's unique, as Kenny says in the article I linked. The harping on Dom being a "quitter" when it's clearly not the case gets really tiresome. The NHL will be poorer (not in salary, since Dom obviously doesn't play for money) when he does finally retire. There isn't anyone else out there as interesting, controversial, or talented and perhaps won't ever be again. Luckily, if all goes well, we may see Dom back for another run next season.
