"...good luck Ottawa and take your best shotawa."

not a quitter There's no defense for not playing injured? He's human, believe it or not, and can be hurt. Never understood how fans blame a player who is injured for not being able to play despite pain normal people couldn't even tolerate. But, whatever... Hasek's never quit on anything in his life, however, you're welcome to your opinion. Wings know the truth about The Goalie, and it's sad that Ottawa is so bitter over something Dom couldn't control. That's hockey fans for you. Buffalo fans are jumping ship madly right now, despite the stellar season their team has had. Ottawa is lucky the Sabs ran out of gas when they did. I am SO thrilled the Wings got outbid for Gerber-baby last summer, and got Dom instead. Whew!! Oh, well!! We have him now, that's all that matters in my book. I don't disagree that the team who wants it more will win it all. Remains to be seen whether that's the Sens or the Wings. But I don't see any debate with the goalies. Emery is great, so is Dom. They won't be the deciding factor, I suspect, in who hoists the Cup in June. PS - welcome to the forum! But don't expect me to agree with your opinion about Dom. Peace!!

    WCF Game 3 (5/15): Red Wings @ Ducks - 9 PM ET

I expect another low scoring game, unless the refs eat their whistles again. If that happens, who knows how many goals the Ducks will "score"? So far, it's safe to say we're not going to get many breaks in the officiating in this series. Stay out of the box, if you can, Wings. And for heaven's sake, get down there and pester the crap out of Giguere, lots of shots. He's had it way too easy so far in this series for my liking. I will be interested to see how Kopecky does in his first game back, too. Draper with the game winner. I don't know why I think that, I just do!

    Ottawa / Buffalo Game 3

I am shocked at the way Buffalo is playing. They are SO much better than this. They are just giving the series away to Ottawa. I am also surprised at my friends in Buffalo and their reaction to the team's losses. That loud thumping sound you hear from Western NY is people jumping off the Sabres' bandwagon. I mean, yes, it's disappointing, but come on, it's hockey. I stick with my team to the end, even when things are bad, though I understand their disappointment. If the worst happens, and the Wings don't go all the way this year, I will not love them any less. Not saying the Sabs fans are any less devoted, but stuff happens... everyone can't win.

    Ottawa / Buffalo Game 3

good point. Ottawa isn't a match for either the Wings or the Ducks.

    Ottawa / Buffalo Game 3

15 SOG from the Sabs? Lucky Ottawa, they didn't even have to show up. I cannot believe the Sabres are going to lay down and die like this. Wow.

    Hasek Save on Getzlaf

fixed it, Crym... you meant "not" I take it? They will quote you on it, you know!!

"...good luck Ottawa and take your best shotawa."

If you think Dom quit, you're misinformed, but part of a very large group of malcontents in Ottawa circles. I understand their bellyaching, however, since they were depending on Hasek to win the Cup for them. The Sens were very disturbed by his absence, as they had grown dependent on/addicted to Dom during his stellar season with them. Emery was fine, the team didn't pull together to help him, which was a shame. Funny, the one game where the Sens shone was when Hasek was behind the bench. Buffalo can easily come back and pound Ottawa (ah, good old days!!) and I suspect they will do so. Not that I really want to see either team in the SCF vs. the Wings, but it's "6 of one, half-dozen of the other" as far as I am concerned.

    Hasek Save on Getzlaf

One small correction, you forgot Dom's Olympic Gold medal.

    Hasek article

You need to be educated. Here you go. no charges in Hasek assault case Grow up, and talk about hockey, not nonsense like this. Have a nice day.

Pronger: "They can't handle us 5-on-5..."

Pronger (the giraffe on skates) will forever be a joke to me, after he tried his best to take out Stevie Y in 2002 playoffs, and wound up wrecking his own knee, done for the series. Poetic justice at its best!!! Perhaps his over-active mouth will trip him up as well. The Wings will prove him wrong, no doubt in my mind. Go, Red Wings!!!

Ref Sight and Whistles (the two goals)

Just tough luck all around, especially on the goal where Niedermeyer pushed Dom into the goal. The whistle should have blown at the instant the ref could not see the puck, which was when Dominik made the save. If the ref had seen a goal, he would have signalled it immediately, I believe. The fact that he didn't signal a goal and waited for the puck to cross the line is what's irritating. It's obvious the puck was not in sight as it was in Hasek's pad and was only seen when it slid out and even the refs could see it - oh, gee, look, I guess it's a goal.. now! Officials are predictably slow or absent with whistles, along with calls for interference and roughing the goalie in the crease, when the goaltender is named Hasek and especially when said goalie is wearing a Wings sweater. Get used to it. But, those are the breaks and good teams find a way to get past them. And the Wings willl do so. The Ducks can't really rely on the refs and sheer luck for the entire series. And the Wings need to play better, too. Can't play sloppy and expect Dom to do all the work... it's not realistic.

WCF Game 2 (5/13): Ducks 4, Red Wings 3 OT

I'm with you. Wings can't fight this kind of bad call, no whistle nonsense, so they are just going to have to push harder and make the Ducks pay, legally and straight up. Otherwise, they will get penalized, unlike other teams. If the Wings hadn't had Hasek in there, they would have lost in regulation, most likely, so I guess it was good they managed to take it to OT. If the whistles are actually in use on Tuesday, Wings will do better.

What a crock of ... It

I thought Dom was fine... he can't stop illegal goals, hard as he tries. He played great in the first, in case you didn't see the game.
  14. puckloo39

    I said id be back

we're going to try pushing your goalie into the net with the puck already stopped, and see if the refs give us the game breaking goal! Wings periodically forget they have to play all 60 minutes of a game to win. Watch for them to recall that fact on Tuesday.

WCF Game 2 (5/13): Ducks 4, Red Wings 3 OT

Hasek is still playing in the playoffs, and playing briliantly. All of the Vezina candidates are all playing golf right now. I think that about says it all. Dom wants a bigger prize than another Vezina. He's not the problem here, I don't believe. I for one am encouraged that despite the efforts of refs and suspect plays by the Ducks, the Wings managed to find three goals. **faints** Maybe next game, they will all play 60 minutes and not just Dom, Lids and Zata.

WCF Game 2 (5/13): Ducks 4, Red Wings 3 OT

he had help. Hint: they wear striped shirts and have whistles... I think they do, anyway.

WCF Game 2 (5/13): Ducks 4, Red Wings 3 OT

now that you mention it, what is with these guys (Zata and Sammy, who's next??) taking delay of game penalties with seconds left?? It didn't cost them in game one, but this one cost us. Could we please stop that now, boyz??

WCF Game 2 (5/13): Ducks 4, Red Wings 3 OT

Apparently, Niedermeyer took you literally on the pushing thing. It worked for him, since the refs couldn't seem to find their whistles, blinded by his brilliant moves, I guess.

WCF Game 2 (5/13): Ducks 4, Red Wings 3 OT

well, you know, if the Ducks *luck* continues in the same vein, perhaps someone in the NHL will notice and be embarrassed and do something about it. Wait, what am I saying? The Wings better come up big and just outplay the hell out of the Quacks from now on out... they have a big challenge when they have to overcome slow whistles and uncalled penalties, in addition to playing well. Makes it tougher, but they can do it!

WCF Game 2 (5/13): Ducks 4, Red Wings 3 OT

it's OK, the Ducks lucked out on the third "goal." Wings collectively played well enough to win. But you can't do anything about bad calls, so on to the stupid west coast and games lasting until midnight again. Ugh.

WCF Game 2 (5/13): Ducks 4, Red Wings 3 OT

Neidermeyer with no one on him... no chance. Glad they are happy with their "win" - one which deserves an * for questionable officiating. Wings need to work on cheater moves for the next game. And I do think it's appropriate that versus immediately cuts to "bull" riding, don't you?

WCF Game 2 (5/13): Ducks 4, Red Wings 3 OT

Flip almost won the game for the Ducks. Good thing Dom saw it...

WCF Game 2 (5/13): Ducks 4, Red Wings 3 OT

there went my prediction. Dats didn't come through five minutes in for me. Anybody will do now in a Wings' sweater. Huge save by Dom...

WCF Game 2 (5/13): Ducks 4, Red Wings 3 OT

um, yes, he was. Watch the replay. The refs looked the other way once he had the puck stopped in his pads, until the Duck could shove him over the line. It was Neidermeyer who did it, by the way. Tackling Nick, shoving Dom over the goal line --- busy night!!!!

WCF Game 2 (5/13): Ducks 4, Red Wings 3 OT

the reason is officiating and bad calls on illegal plays resulting in a goal being called that wasn't a goal. But I know from hard experience that it won't matter. I've seen far worse injustices, believe me. If the Ducks win this one, it will simply give the Wings more reason to crush them in the next four straight. If you can't win straight up, go home.
