this isn't good. Are they making the Wings and Flames game wait until they are done with postgame in Ottawa? Or what is going on here??? I don't like this, if our guys are standing around waiting to start the game.
-
danke! I will be here, not much of a chat person, but I may pop in and see what you're up to over there.
-
Is the game on yet? Versus is doing postgame coverage of the Ottawa win. Pitts is done. They are interviewing Dany Heatley... I wish they would show the Wings now....

I hope your family is right on the scores (I like your mom's best!) The story about Dom is funny, and not surprising. He hates to be scored on worse than anyone and it makes him even more determined than ever to never let "it" happen again. I know the Wings will all bring their "A" game tonight! -
thank you, Harold!! **hugs** and you, too, BlueMonk. **hugs** for you, too. We need to support the Wings, ALL of them, right now and not second-guess their abilities.

I think the article linked above mentions an Il Divo concert in between this game and the last one? Great. All that hot air could not have been good for the ice. -

they're not worried so why should we be? The Wings know what they have to do. Here's hoping there is no game 6 and that Hank and Bert and Lang are going to contribute to the cause!

You're parsing words. Read the linked article I posted. "Lidstrom was caught flat-footed when Wayne Primeau headmanned the puck to Jarome Iginla," sounds like to me Nick missed his assignment, allowing Iginla the opportunity to score. Nick was just a nano-second too slow, and Dom was just a few millimeters shy of where he should have been. I say they both made a mistake. They both say they did. I simply disagree that Hasek was the major factor in the loss. There were a few other players involved, as I recall. The Flames took advantage. I love Kris Draper, but when he is the best skater on the ice, there's more wrong than Dom missing a puck by an inch or so and Nick missing his assignment. They will all be better tomorrow. I am hoping Bert makes his presence felt.

I can only imagine what it would have been like if Dom had been dumb enough to allow more than one "suspect" goal. This one is so close people are arguing about it. And yes, Nick was responsible, he even said so. So did Hasek. So what is the issue with assigning more or less blame here? Nick didn't lose that game last night, and neither did Hasek. The team lost it, unless one subscribes to the easy-out of blaming the goalie for every loss. Technically, every game is lost because the keeper didn't stop enough pucks. There were more factors involved last night than just our captain and our #1 goalie. The whole team will be better tomorrow. edit: I am glad the Wings aren't as picky as we are, and work and play well together.

I am shocked that you would find fault with Hasek. You are decidedly in the minority. According to Nick Lidstrom, your assessment is incorrect. http://www.canada.com/calgaryherald/hockey...f9-3460e671b0d8 A little less than five minutes later, Lidstrom was caught flat-footed when Wayne Primeau headmanned the puck to Jarome Iginla, who scampered down the right wing and ripped a shot past Dominik Hasek for the game-winner and series-tightener. "I got beaten by a pass in the neutral zone," shrugged Lidstrom, who had played the leading role in keeping Iginla off the scoresheet for the series' first eight periods. "He only needs one chance to put it in and he proved it on that play. He's a tremendous player." "I have to give him credit for the goal," noted Hasek. "He saw the spot inside the post above my pad, but I still feel that's a puck that I have chance to make the save because I could see it." If you ever did want to say something positive about Dom, you might admit he's honest to a fault and knows when he's off. How many elite goaltenders would say what he did. He agrees with you, that he should have had the goal, not that it matters. He will do better, of course, in the next game. It was a one goal game, where there were plenty of missed opportunities for the Wings to score more than their requisite 2 goals per game. I've said from the beginning of the season that habit would haunt them.

Gosh. I hope one day the Wings get a goalie who never has a bad game or lets in a goal he wishes he had back. The implications of the third goal last night are negligible, in light of the other unforced errors, turnovers, missed assignments (Nick!!), missed chances, 4 minute power plays with 1 shot on goal, and other questionable plays by the rest of the team. No one is beating Dom up over that goal, certainly not the Red Wings. To say that one goal labels Hasek as not "elite" doesn't make Dom look bad. That is simply your opinion. I understand that you don't like Dom, but try and be fair... or at least try not to over-react. He will bounce back, he knows what he needs to do and so do the rest of the Wings.
-
it's easy to blame the goalie (obviously), but Nick knows he blew that play...
-
I totally agree. It wasn't a blowout... players made mistakes that cost us. The team as a whole wasn't on their game, and the Flames took advantage. I posted in the first that the missed opportunity on the 4-minute PP would cost them. They'll learn from that, too. Some of the boo-boos were weird to see -- like Nick being the catalyst for not one, but two goals by Iginla? That won't happen again. They knew better than to let up on him, but they did anyway. Zata was off... it's allowed, he's human. Dom could have maybe gotten one of the three goals, but not the other two. He will shut them down next game, betcha. Lots of people seem to think Kipper is the second coming, but he's not. He's very beatable, esp. if the right Wings show up. And they will on Thursday. I never thought they would sweep. This is fine, they will come home to clinch. Wings in 5.
-
turnovers and bad coverage combined with Iginla will do that for ya.
-
I do hope the Wings are aware that Iginla is going to score if they don't stay on him.
-
wow, I don't see us getting this one back. I hope they prove me wrong...
-
Kipper would never do that.
-
Someone needs to take care of Iginla. Hasek can't do this alone. Sorry...
-
Lidstrom should have had Iginla...
-
well, here is our split. Bye, Wings... Lidstrom beaten again, and there's a goal.
-
I think the Flames undisciplined hockey just rubbed off on the Wings... Markov in the box. If they score on this, we are in trouble.
-
well, there goes our momentum... turn the puck over to Iginla and what do you expect, I guess.
-
No goal... they'd better not count that.
