    4/16 GDT: The heat's on

penalty isles... that oughta do it with 1:30 left. Robitaille did not trip Ludman. Bad call.

certainly does. I will feel better if the Preds get beat, however.

hummas? Speaking of odd words, how do they get "Loodman" out of Toni Lydman's name? But I think that is how he pronounces it.

    Kiprusoff

    I couldn't agree more.

    Kiprusoff

not in the least. Kipper won't be the last goalie to be the only one playing for his team, and he won't be the last. He's the only reason the Flames aren't waving a white flag right now instead of a red one. Harold's right, the rest of the team has some 'splainin' to do. Iginla talks a lot, so does Phaneuf. But I don't hear anything resembling good excuses for their play in Game 1 and 2.

he's not alone in that. I find it hard to believe that anyone would question his contributions or salary -- but knowing hockey fans as I do, I guess I shouldn't be shocked.

    Kiprusoff

Not necessarily any other goalie... but most, perhaps. Kipper is getting plenty of press and attention about his exploits vs. the Wings. Any other goalie would perhaps not be so lauded for consecutive losses, if he wasn't a Vezina calibre goalie in the first place. So, I don't feel too sorry for Kipper right now (I did feel sorry for him in San Jose when he stood in Nabby's shadow, but not anymore). Kipper's doing his job, keeping his club from being completely overwhelmed in the face of some pretty stiff odds. Speaking of players whose contributions do go unnoticed, I saw this today about Nick and thought it was interesting: "But speaking of Lidstrom, nobody seems to be doing that [waxing poetic about Pavel Datsyuk and Valtteri Filppula after the first two games]. Why? Because we have come to expect him to play 30 minutes a game, against the opponent's top players, on the penalty kill, on the power play, and score goals while doing so. He, like Datsyuk, like Filppula, has a goal in each of the first two games of the series. Ho-hum. So what else is new? It's not new, but it should be appreciated. Lidstrom turns 37 later this month (April 28) and shows no signs of aging whatsoever. I'm thinking they probably already sent out the Norris Trophy to engrave his name on it for the fifth time. My Concerns for Game 3

^^^ what HC said. How'd you get so smart, gal?

    Flames pollute Motown...

it is amazing we don't see more Kronner-style rhinoplasties. Or Marlichuk type accidents, what with guys crashing and sliding into the crease and running goalies more and more often lately.

we give credit where it is due, Jiggy. Most of the time, anyway.

    Kiprusoff

not worried, so long as the Wings don't wear out.

    Kiprusoff

Kipper has been just as good as I expected him to be. The scores would have been much worse for the Flames without him. I think he will just wear out if the Wings keep throwing pucks at him, regardless of the quality of shots. I am much more interested in the number of pucks behind him than the ones Kipper stops. And the fact that in two games, only 1 per game got behind our goalie, and one at least was deflected. But, that's just me.

    LGW Late Night Team: Assemble!

ah, poor Dallas. Marty had no chance on that. These 1 goal wins tell you nothing about dominance, the game could literally have gone either way and so could have game 1. Even the shut out was closer than it looks (2-0) Quite a match up, I'd say...
