Bring her with you! I'm a girl, so we can gang up on you, two against one! j/k

I called Legends, and Anthony, the bar manager, said he will show any and all Red Wings playoff games and would "love" to have us Wings fans. He was very excited that we wanted to come there and watch the playoffs. Who's interested? I'll be able to come to at least some of the games, for sure. April 15th, anyone?? It's a really nice place, lots of parking, and 30 plasma screens. And the food is good, besides.

Legends in N. Austin (Arboretum area) might be good, it's in the Holiday Inn at 360/183. I would call them and see if they have Center Ice and if they will be showing the NHL playoffs, though. I am surprised at how many Wings fans there are in Austin who frequent this forum.

they've re-signed Forsberg. Sorry to see Gentleman Joe go, if that's what it's about. Classy guy, Joe Sakic.

Going through childhood with names like those, it's no wonder they are anti-social. Refs are human and make mistakes. All I want is timely whistles from them, and proper reviews of game-changing decisions, if there is any doubt. Over the years, I have seen one too many devastating mistakes made which cost a team a game, or in one case, the Cup. Use the technology and use it wisely when needed, NHL.

wrong again. You pick a really poor time to be precious about this topic. You ought to be supporting a player who will be a key factor in the Cup win, not dredging up "news" that was never news. Shame on you.

Sadly, there are plenty of people who won't get that, Mac. Trust me.

We got a bargain in our 42 year old goalie, all around. Eddie will be 42 next week (4/21). Dom's in the playoffs. Eddie's in custody. Anyone who ever thought Belfour was the better choice over Dom is long gone from this forum, or won't admit they ever said it, at this point. Dom wasn't playing for the Wings, wasn't drunk and disorderly.... and the charges were never filed, no evidence. No comparison, but thanks for playing.

oh, Eddie... the cops in Dallas are shaking their heads right now. What a sad state for one of the game's greats. I never liked Crazy Eddie, but he was a hell of a goalie in his day.

Gleason's predictions, Buffalo News here's an "expert" opinion on awardees for the post-season hardware. Excerpt: "Goalies play the most important position. Hasek’s value wasn’t just in the opportunities he stopped but the ones he created. The Sabres took more chances with him in net, and they gained confidence knowing he was back there . And that’s how Vancouver thrived this season with goalie Roberto Luongo." bolded portion of excerpt ^^^ still true! He doesn't pick Nick for Norris, other than that, Bucky has some good points. Interesting read, anyway.

should we split up datsyuk and zetterberg ?
puckloo39 replied to zetterbergfuturemvp's topic in General
I agree... I want Z back, and hope to see the chemistry that he and Datsyuk had earlier in the season, but I don't expect Hank to make the difference. Hank at 100% will help, but I have thought all along, we may not get him back before 2nd round. 50 SOG with one or two goals will be a problem, I fear. -
You're as bad as I am. Or I am as bad as you are... take your pick. I have a mini-vacation planned from May 5-12 when I know I will have no computer, and limited TV, probably no hockey coverage... will be lucky to find a source to see what scores are, even. My thought: "It might not matter as much to me by then, anyway." Banished thought immediately!! Bad looo... but I am worried, when it comes to offense and ability to answer, I am not sure we've got what it takes. Defense and goaltending don't worry me one bit, but 50 SOG with 2 goals just won't cut it in the playoffs. If the Wings can't score, they won't win. Plain and simple. I wnt them to win, I think they can, but at the same time.... Calgary can win, simply by scoring one more than the Wings, regardless of how many pucks the D and Dom stop. Someone, please reassure me, if you can. Even getting Zetterberg back concerns me, if he's not 100%. It's Monday, maybe I just need coffee... PS - Edit: just checked the user list, online members. Good afternoon, European Wings fans!!

Article on Crosby and his achievements... at 19 years of age. wow!

I am watching the game, and yes, yes, it is! Go, Stars!!!! Anyone who thinks the Stars are not scary should be watching this game. I don't care if it is "just" Chicago. Modano is a force. Khabibulin could do nothing with the GWG. Wow.

It just freaks me out how some folks go out of their way to find reasons to not trust and support Dom and Ozzie, when they've both been great this season. They are ours and we ought to be on their side, not Brodeur's. Not right now for sure, we have a Cup to win!
-
here is a shot of someone scoring on Lalime, take your pick which Wing it was... We were talking about helmets the other day in another thread and I looked all over for a pic of Lalime's "Marvin the Martin" helmet customization for Chicago. Marvin has on a war-bonnet. Lalime's a great guy, too bad he's not a better goalie... if you're a Hawks fan, that is.

Dallas is tough this year, for sure, there is no "quit" in any of them, they just won't give up! All their fans have grey hairs and chewed down fingernails. Buffalo is fantastic, I'd love to see them go far this playoffs. Ottawa is not a problem... Murray is an idiot, but you already know that. I harbor a secret wish (not so secret now) that Detroit and Buffalo wind up in the SC Final. What a blast that would be. Sorry, I believe the Wings would win it all, but it would be a show, wouldn't it?

Here's an article on Dom's role in the playoffs this season, and what Babcock, Yzerman and other Wings think about his presence in goal. I live for the day that fans in Motown feel the same confidence in Dom. I do. Wings have confidence in goal

I'm going to be sorry to see your bunny-ears avatar go, OS. It makes me laugh everytime I see it. What do you have up your grpahical-genius sleeve for the playoff avatat? I can't wait.

Dominik Hasek: $750,000 Chris Osgood: $900,000 The Red Wings managing to score more than two goals per game in the playoffs: priceless For everyone else, there's www.newjerseydevils.com I support the Red Wings and their goalies. Brodeur may be over-rated, but he can't score goals in the playoffs, any more than Dom can. Dom does has several assists to his credit, however, along with unheralded contributions to other victories. Not to say Brodeur doesn't, but I think it's time to start supporting the Wings' goalies at this point, not New Jersey's. Of course, the team supports Hasek. They play with the guy every day and know better than anyone what an asset they have in him. We should enjoy the team we have now. Brodeur will be a Devil for life, and it is unlikely that Luongo will ever come to Detroit -- although I certainly never thought Dom would, either, so never say never! So maybe try to appreciate the fact that Hasek is back, he's in great shape, and we have Ozzie at the ready, if we need him. Before anyone flies off the handle and supposes I am saying you're not a Wings' fan because you *heart* Brodeur, that's not what I am saying. Brodeur not your goalie, Hasek and Ozzie are. edit: spelling

that pic of Bert on page 1 of this thread made me laugh out loud. My gosh, I am glad he's a Wing. Cheli had to look at that every game in Round 1, '02?
-
Ooops, you're right about the Ross. Richard is most goals, right? Yeah. Vinny, then. BTW, I think Dom's limited workload did effect a Vezina bid. Dom played 22 fewer games than Brodeur this season and 19 fewer than Luongo. Proportionately, Hasek won more games, 67.8% (won 38 of 56). Brodeur and Luongo each won 61.5 and 61.3 respectively. Had Hasek played more games, it's hard to say what would have happened - just speculation at this point. I've never subscribed to the idea that he couldn't carry the workload, but that's water under the bridge, too. Both top contenders have higher GAAs than Dom, and the "league leader" Backstrom, won just over 50% of the games he played. I like win percentage as an indicator, myself. Too bad Dom won't be considered for Vezina, since 7 would have tied him with the great Jacques Plante. Edit: Dom only needed three more wins to match his own career high, 41 wins, with the Wings in 2002.

I don't think it's complaining, so much as willingness to believe the worst and anticipating a bad result this season, or every game for some fans. It didn't happen. Hasek and Babs made sure it didn't, as much as was humanly possible. The big show is about to begin and the hardest stretch is coming up. I hope everyone takes a cue from the Red Wings themselves, and looks forward to the playoffs with confidence.

Hart Memorial Trophy: Sidney Crosby James Norris Memorial Trophy: Nicklas Lidstrom Calder Memorial Trophy: Evgeni Malkin Vezina Trophy: Roberto Luongo Lady Byng Memorial Trophy: Teemu Selanne Frank J.Selke Trophy: Henrik Zetterberg Jack Adams Trophy: Lindy Ruff again, or Dave Tippett, maybe? I have a hard time picking coaches... Art Ross: Vinny Lecavalier Dom won't win the Vezina since he hasn't played every game this season, but he will win the Conn Smythe this time.

I have become a fan this season. I've always liked Ozzie, but he has really impressed me with his play and his great attitude. I don't know how we could ask for anyone better in his role. Dom's my man, but without Ozzie, there's no "sexy tandem" in Detroit. great job, Ozzie!!
