is the game on? We have hold music on Center Ice. Oh, no... wait we have Stars highlights all over the place. Oh good.
-
really? I started to say earlier today that I bet Dallas chickens out and doesn't play Turco. Why is Center Ice playing stupid music with a sign that says "We'll be right back"? This does not bode well for this broadcast. What's going on??
-
Ralph and Razor are OK, a bit homerish at times. I don't understand why we don't have Ken and Mick, though.
-
dunno. I read that Dom's taking his 16 year old son to the event in Detroit on April 1.
-
the Donald, once his head is shaved, could try out for goalie in Nashville.

Wings-Stars preview Doesn't say Bouch is out. Sydor, Robidas, Lindros, Stefan and Barnaby are out. Wings Have Stars' Number - Heika DMN edit: Philippe Boucher met the Stars in Detroit on Thursday, and Tippett said the defenseman, who returned from his father's funeral in Quebec, is expected to be in the lineup tonight.

yes, to the first one. As for the fans who trash obviously great teams with signs that make no sense and razzing great players when they're beating your team... sometimes hockey kharma is a harsh mistress. Remember the "Red Wings Suck" t-shirts the Avs handed out in the '02 WCF to Avs fans sitting behind the Wings' bench? What a farce! How stupid did THAT look on TV, given what happened? That, and Hartley's stick-measuring antics, and Patty dropping the puck in his own goal, along with the 7-0 drubbing game 7. All hilarious - makes me laugh, still, to think of all that. Razzing Wahhh in that situation made perfect sense. Even his own fans were razzing him when he made simple stops.
-
I love Scotland, been there twice. But no hockey would indeed suck. Come join us in the gameday thread tonight (or early tomorrow, to you).

Some of us Wings fans are smart enough to live in Texas... or Nashville.
-
no worries. Some people criticize us for picking on our players, too. They can always be better.
-
I find that hard to believe. Even the best players can play better, let's face it. I do think it's funny to hear fans taunt players who are beating them consistently. It just looks silly for fans to razz Ozzie when he once again handled the nets beautifully and came away with the "W". I understand goalie-chants when a 'tender has let in a handful of stinkers. Then, it sort of makes sense, see? Not trying to argue. Lots of fans enjoy the insults, taunts, and razzing, and it's part of the game, I guess. Context makes a big difference!

not so, L11. You are respected here. Read my post. You can't control the behavior of some fans, and no one thinks you and tons of other Preds fans are included in the author's piece cited.
-
Did the author of that article lose his job yet? What makes Nashville fans look silly is their indiscriminant boo'ing and moaning and razzing of players who quite simply don't "deserve" it. It's ridiculous, and it makes the fans there look really dumb, taken as a whole. I am sure there are good, knowledgeable fans there who are embarrassed by the behavior of the rest of the herd, however. Too bad they get tarred with one brush. It's enough that we can laugh at them, and local journalists recognize it and call them out for it. Maybe in time, the Preds' fanbase will grow out of this immature phase, eh?

The lack of consistency and assuredness that we can score when needed is a worry, to me. Every 6-8 games, they pull out 5 or 6 or 7 goals, a couple of times. There was that ridiculous 9-2 game in early October vs. Phoenix - but that was a fluke, obviously. The majority of the Wings' wins and losses are by a goal or two. When the Wings simply don't generate more than one, it obviously requires the goalie to pull off a shut out to win. If things don't change, that ought to make for an interesting playoff.
-
it is, but as someone pointed out, the Nashville media picked the stars, so go figure.
-
Fixed it. jinx, jinx!! Hasek is number one in GAA in the NHL today again, at 2.09. Just sayin', I won't go start a new thread to announce it.
-
I think he wants to see Donald Trump get his head shaved.
-
back on topic: Ozzie shut the fans up in Nashville the best way possible. He won. The razz-chant probably didn't even phase him.

I see Dallas more than any other NHL team, living where I do. I wouldn't mind seeing them in the first round, I guarantee it would be a highly entertaining matchup. The Stars are not to be taken lightly, so I hope everyone on the Wings' bench shows up tonight and don't play soft. Dallas won't. Their last few games I've watched were nail-biter/thrillers in OT and shoot outs, and Dallas won them convincingly. They are also very capable of scoring more than 2 goals per game, trust me on this one. Dom will do his best, but everyone has to pitch in tonight, no excuses. I look for Bert to have another huge night, in all senses of that word. Calder will be a contributor, and Mule will be the man, again. Pavel will be his usual self with at least 1G/1A. Expect Turco to bring his "A" game. He's a fierce competitor and probably won't give it up the way Vokoun does. We can hope, though. 4-1 Wings. Show me the scoring, Wings!!

Preds are upset they didn't play better against their rival. Even banged up, they're a capable team against all comers. We would be mad at ourselves, too, if we failed to show up for a big game like last night's, so they're frustrated. I'm willing to bet that if the tables were turned and we had four or five key guys out, there would be some 'excuses' from our side, as well, just to be fair. That said, we own the Preds regardless of who they put on the ice. Thanks, Ozzie! From a Wings' fan perspective, aside from the win, I saw a lot of things I liked last night. 1. Ozzie can be trusted to stand up if needed in the playoffs. That was never not so in my mind, but doubters might believe it now, in the event Dom goes down injured. Better hope that doesn't happen, but some people are secretly hoping for it, I swear. I'll never understand that attitude. 2. Bertuzzi is a force to reckoned with. Again. And he's ours. I love his attitude. He doesn't just want to be a big body out there, he wants to contribute. Love him... always did, do even more now that he's a Wing. 3. Calder is solid, Kenny's a genius. Best pick up of the trade season... forget Smythe and the Isles. We got Calder. 4. Pavel Datsyuk is a bona fide superstar. And he's ours, and he'd better stay ours. He will also be a force to be feared in the playoffs, if he keeps the same momentum he's got going into the post-season. Phenomenal efforts on his part. 5. Mule is back in gear, and he's going to get even better now that he's back. I didn't realize until last night how much I missed him out there. He's the man! Scary things: I don't think Zetterberg is coming back for the playoffs. Maybe by the WCF, but not before. The upside of this is that the Wings seem to manage to win without him. But barely. We need scoring. Duh. Despite Dats' best efforts, he can't do it alone. So I am worried, as you all are, too, I imagine. Games like last night's could be the playoff "norm." I may die of a heart attack, if that's what happens. Along that line, where the heck did Cleary go? Come back, son, we need you. Onward and upward. Let's shoot down the Stars tonight!
-
their cheerleaders tell them to cheer for offsides and icing, Edi... it's not the fans' fault.
-
Ozzie was outstanding, he's definitely in the Pred's heads. hey, I'm a poet!! And as BlueMonk said, they found a way to play themselves out of trouble, and they went to the net a lot. I was very pleased with them. I still worry that they can't score more than two goals a game. Not good...
-
what's he saying? I am SO mad I don't get post game on Center Ice.
-
undoubtedly, my friend. See you tomorrow, maybe? If you can stay awake again?
