Ozzie!! beauty stick save!
-
atta boy, Lids. Scramble in front of Vokoun... keep up the pressure, guys!
-
that's "Chelios is a sissy," I believe. Let's hear them chant that with Cheli's new bestest friend, Bert, glaring at them. We need to get one on Vokoun early. He's got Wings in his noggin!!
-
go Lilja! Dumont and Foresbooger are going to be trying to score, so is Timmonen. He's just back off injured list.
-
oh, well, OK... I missed the "humor" in that.
-
me, too... we will just have to make the best of it. Maybe they will re-name of our players, like the Rex Hudler situation? Did they just miss the puck drop while yakking about nothing? I think they did!!
-
you don't enjoy those announcers? They are so bad, they're almost fun.
-
c'mon CI! I am psyched... me want hockey! Go, Red Wings!!!!!!!!!

I emailed John Niyo yesterday and thanked him for this article. He answered me, and said couldn't agree with me more, that Dom may be the most misunderstood athlete/celebrity in hockey, or possibly any sport. Dom has never been anything other than what was portrayed in the Det News article. If some folks realized that because of John's words, I imagine he would be pleased by that fact. This is when HC will put Dom in her screen name. HC is fair, but her love for Ozzie eclipses her affections for all others!

Driven to Dominate Here's a nice article in the Detroit News today on Dom, with topics ranging from why he came back to what he wants to accomplish for the Wings and for himself. It's an honest appraisal of a complicated man -- if you're a fan, you'll enjoy this.

I believe the person who posted this about Belfour and Hasek (amongst other gems) is purposely throwing out idiotic statements to see if he can get a response. If that's not the case, we can ignore him completely, since he knows nothing about hockey - or more specifically, NHL goaltending and Hasek in particular.
-
I would expect Dom to be with the team and dress as backup. It didn't say, did it? Dom won't be needed, Ozzie owns the Preds!

5-3 Wings win. You all realize Tutu is not playing, right? And Erat is out, which also works for me. Nashville is banged up pretty badly (Sullivan, Hartnell, Nichol...). We're "only" missing Zetterburg if Lebda plays, which sounds probable at the moment. I don't see much of a contest tonight, if the same Wings who played vs. the Ducks on Monday show up in Nashville. A convincing win would go a long way tonight. And a win tomorrow night at home would be great, too, it being a dreaded back to back. I won't be surprised if they don't win, though. Playoffs are here. Time to act like it, boyz. Oh, yeah, we will win... we have an aflac GDT for good luck! PS - I know Kopecky's out. He's been gone so long, I don't even consider him as part of the line up anymore. Poor guy.

goalie linky Here's a liitle blurb from Detriot News this morning about Ozzie and Dom, and how the games remaining will be sorted out.
-
I honestly like all the Wings, including Lilja, who is just good enough, just often enough, to give me hope. you made me laugh, thanks!

I'm not going to quote your whole post, Eva... but very good job!

Bottom line, Babcock made the decision about who plays when. One reason Dom and Ozzie can work together and be a great tandem is both of them play when they are tapped and sit when they're told to sit. They are each capable of winning either of the next two games, and neither one deserves to play in one game more than the other. As far as the playoffs, I will be surprised to see Ozzie start any games as long as Hasek is healthy and especially if they're winning. That is probably just how it's going to be... and it's not a knock on Ozzie. 2002 playoffs, Legace saw almost no action. At this point neither Dom nor Ozzie will benefit from any sort of preparation. If they're not ready now (and I believe they are), no extra game or back to back is going to help. I am much more concerned that I won't see the determination and 60 minute effort again that I saw on Monday vs. the Ducks. And for God's sake, someone besides Datsyuk -- find the back of the net!! Lang, I do not mean the back of our net... put the puck in the other team's net, please? Edit: I can't resist... Ozzie is not mediocre. The Wings have two quality goalies. The end.

If we stop responding and encouraging this poster's nonsense, he will go away. It is your attention he craves. I won't validate him anymore by trying to refute obvious attempts to bait forum members. right, HoH. He may well be Jamie, since Stevie Y is gone, he's picked another target.

Save Dom for the Dallas game at home, and avoid back to backs. Stars are a determined team, and have been tough lately, scrapping out OT and SO wins. No pushovers, those Stars. Ozzie can handle the Preds (or the Stars), especially if the same Wings show up tomorrow who were on the ice Monday. I hope that happens. We need to see a team effort and have confidence in both goalies down the stretch. What SWF said about rotation. Babcock, Ozzie and Dom have already made schedule as to who starts which game, so all is going according to plan, one would assume.
-
for the moment. It depends on when you look at the stats and who's played a game since Dom has. Big deal. He's still one of the top goalies in the NHL and should be appreciated for what he's doing for the team. the person starting this thread is either woefully misinformed or trying to start a goalie war. Or both.
-
Teemu should know, it's nice of him to mention how great Flip is. I am a big fan of Selanne's, just happy to see him shut down everytime he plays vs. the Wings.
-
I'm OK with it. Bert is usually pretty good at shootouts and came really close on both attempts so far with the Wings. Just the size of that body headed for the goal would put the fear of God into some goalies... it's worth a try!

I heard that comment, when Schneids was talking to a player on the Ducks during the warmup - sorry, I don't recall who it was. It sounded like "we got Duck ice tonight..." What I think Schneids meant was that it was unseasonably warm in Detroit and the ice wasn't as crisp as usual. The commentators said the AC and cooling units were working overtime in Motown, to keep the ice from going mushy but apparently it was soft last night in comparison to what the Wings were used to at home. I took his comment about Duck ice to mean the ice was soft, as in a California-type playing surface. edit, spelling

the fans are loving it, too. Nice to see some passion and "grit" out there last night. Go, Wings!!

that's a shame, he's been great for the Isles... hope he's OK.
