I just want out of this stanza without another goal against.
-
aside from paying homage to Our Lady of Perpetual Penalties? They're being outskated and outshot and out-hustled, at least this period. They'll get better in the second. So, how was your day? j/k They will get better.
-
good try by Dats. The Flames still have the puck too much for my taste. Oh, good. Another pk. Hang in there, Dom, you're in for a long night.
-
hit looked a little late to me, but maybe that's just me. I hope we get out of this one without any more injuries.
-
um... is this a replay of the Canucks game? Wings can't get out of their end and Hasek is saving their butts for them.
-
I had to look twice to make sure it wasn't Sammy... We no lookie so good, so far.
-
ain't it great? Kipper loves it. Calder is trying, hope he gets rewarded. Soon.
-
the famous words, "Lilja turns over the puck..." are uttered yet again.
-
well, that didn't take long. poor coverage by Detroit, and the Flames want this one more.
-
shhh, Edi... Maltby in the box. Hasek save x 2
-
sorry, I don't know. I will bump your question so someone who does can answer you, though.
-
oy, I agree... it makes my tummy hurt to think about this right now. That's said, I would love to see Buffalo/Detroit SCF. What a ride that would be!
-
not gonna happen. I'd love to see Lang play to his potential and while you're at it, stop it with the turnovers, Bobbert! I'd love to see Lilja play consistently with the same (very) occasional flash of brilliance he shows, just enough to make me think he's worthy of Babcock's apparent fascination with him. And Sammy, cut it out with the 50 footers, go to the danged net!

I don't understand why Osgood wouldn't be considered at starter in the Fall, if Dom doesn't come back. The problem is that the Wings' management doesn't seem to be like-minded about it. If Dom doesn't return, I won't be surprised to see Detroit go for another stop-gap veteran, before they offer the job to Ozzie. They could surprise us, though, especially if no other cost-effective (less than $800K ballpark) UFA goalies are in the mix as starter material. Personally, I expect to see Hasek back for one more campaign, barring injury. He may be old, but he's still getting the job done.

The Gretzky gambling ring will love it. What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas?
-
Gretzky was on the bench during the Olympic shootout, crying (as usual). Fleury was actually the first shooter, then Bourque, Nieuwendyk, Lindros, and Shanny, in order, all were shut down. Hasek was brilliant in that tourney, posting a 0.98 GAA. Reichel scored for the CZs on the first shot. Another coat of red paint on the post and that one wouldn't have gotten by Roy, BTW. He was also incredible in that Olympics. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/olympics/.../kelley_column/ sidenote: I love that Kelley called Shanny, "Mike" Shanahan in this piece. Hassock, anyone? I think the poster said that Hasek was carrying the Wings as a joke. Hedid carry the Sabres a great deal of the time. Ask any Buffalo fan, if you don't think so. Anyway, as far as Marty Brodeur being overrated, he isn't. Neither is Roy. Neither is Hasek, since you can't really compare him to anyone else. Hockey isn't just numbers, at least in my opinion.

great news, made my day, hope it happens... I just want to see Bert on the ice on March 29th, and savor the look on Tutu's face when he sees his doom approaching. Edit: borrowing from Navywing, Bert+Franzen+Draper = the Wrecking Crew!

Nice recap, jp. Thanks!
-
very good, PM! Enjoy Austin and have a great time, OK? And just talk hockey, don't respond to, feed into or initiate any off-topic stuff, and you will be more than welcome here.

http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/recap?gid=2007031405&prov=ap Detroit, 5-1-1 in the series. Fried catfish, anyone?
-
we get one more crack at the Preds March 29th in Nashville. Raise your hand if you will be watching Tootoo trying to pull his wussie act on Bert. I can't wait for that!
-
Hey, Austin is the Live Music Capitol of the World. Come here, jwo. It's South by Southwest SXSW this week. We'll edumacate you, PM, lighten up a little. Everyone is civil here, in general. Just talk hockey and it's all good. OK?
-
thanks, guys!

I don't feel bad at all. I am happy the Wings won, although not shocked they played up to a contender. They always do, it's the bottomfeeders they lose to, not Nashville. I don't know if that is good or bad. Flip? Am I going to have to wait til tomorrow to find out what's going on?? OT: Pens shut out Brodeur and NJ, 3-0. Ruutu with 1G1A, and Thibault with 1st star for stopping 24 shots.
-
precisely. I stop just short of saying, taken for granted, because I don't believe he is. But is he expected to perform like he did tonight? Yes. Just expected of him, no biggie. Hudler, Lang, Calder... wow. Where's Flip and what's the story?? Remember, CI doesn't think we subscribers want to see post games.
