so far, my center ice is working, at least I can see the other two games that are on currently. Avs/Bruins 0-0, NJ/Phillie, 1-0. Watch, the feed will die just as Detroit comes on.
-
will do, Drake. I hope I can figure out who everyone is, with all the familiar numbers sitting tonight. Edi's here, he's better at commentary than I am, anyway.
-
OK, that made me laugh. B. Muffin, where are you when we need you? I'll entertain you, Edi. you got some good ones! Thanks for sharing!!
-
I was in such shock over what was happening to Jiri, I don't recall anyone boo'ing. We need to win this game tonight. That's all.
-
you think? They're saying he'll be back "this weekend" as in Sunday vs. the Bruins? But you could also be correct. I also wouldn't be too surprised that this is a precaution and rest period for more than one Wing, as has been suggested by others here. Some of the guys probably could play, but it's better if they don't right now. Get well, Wings!!
-
tie that jersey down, Booter!
-
Booter has nothing to lose and a lot to gain from coming up to the big club, IMO. That said, hurry back, Homer, I miss you already!!
-
thanks, buddy!!
-
I love how Time Warner says, we'll give you credit for the game. Like money can replace a live hockey game that can't be recaptured? I guess it's better to lose the feed now than the playoffs, but I don't have much confidence they will get it fixed before then, since they don't seem to know what's wrong.
-
That is sucky news on Homer, he is so tough, what ever it is must really be hurting. Better news on Dom. Hope my Center Ice is working tomorrow. It is apparently suffering from some undisclosed illness.

I'm jealous of you guys in the Detroit area, who might stumble across a Wing out in public. The closest I've come to meeting a Red Wing other than at a meet and greet at their hotel at an away game one time, was running into Mac and Sean Avery coming out of a Starbucks in San Jose. They were very polite and held the door open, and Mac said, "you're welcome, doll," when I thanked him for holding the door. And Luc Robitaille held the door open for me and my friend at a restaurant in San Jose once, too, but he was an LA King then. I seem to be always going into places they are leaving. Oh, yeah, and I parked next to Sergei Zubov at a mall in Dallas earlier this year. I was chicken and didn't say anything to him, even though he's my favorite Star and I am sure he's a nice guy. Rats.

true in Buffalo, San Jose, and Dallas, too. Once in a while someone sneaks through, but not very often. People should know better.

It's fine by me that it got taken down. No one was listening to each other by the end, and some of the comments got personal and emotional, from what I witnessed. If we can't say what we think, within reason, without eliciting a personal attack from another poster, there's no point in expressing an opinion at all. Two trends in general bother me (Note: these comments are not aimed at any particular poster): one is the idea that you cannot root for one player without somehow inherently hating another player in a similar role. The second is that you can't dislike a player on this team without others assuming you're not a "fan." Homerism has it's place but it's no reason to spend the energy trying to discredit another person's opinion. Some discussions make you think (and some have actually swayed my opinion on certain matters) and some just make you want to leave and never come back. I hope no one has ever left the site over a disagreement, since I think the vast majority of regular posters here have very valid and sustainable viewpoints, and solid hockey sense. This forum is head and shoulders above pretty much every other one out there, if you ask me. And that is in large part because the mods take their roles seriously. This just just my opinion, by the way.
-
If that thread got taken down because the arguements got too heated or idiotic, then there are several more on this board that need to go, too. We do tend to be a bit polarized, when it comes to our favorite players, and it's not fun to have people posting "facts" that we "know" are not true. We're all fans here, right? Too bad that the simple posting an opposing view probably will never change anyone's mind, one way or the other.

http://www.nhl.com/nhl/app?service=page&am...ge=FrozenMoment today's pic is good, too (Boston/Montreal). Gorges is doing a "Homer" move, suspended a foot off the ice. I have pics from the playoffs where Homer scored a goal on a deflection right in front of Wahhh (where else?), and the only part of him touching the ice is the heel of his stick! Amazing.

I think SOG totals can be misleading. There is no measure indicating whether a 20 shot game comprised 2 actual scoring chances or 15. It's just a number used in game stats. I've seen 50-shot games which were easier for the goalie to win than games with 20 or less. For most goalies who routinely stop 100's of pucks in practice, a whole bunch of weak shots in a game are not exactly a challenge, but the numbers look good. As subjective as hockey is, there's no real way around that... it isn't particularly logical. OK, we're cool, yes?

Seriously, you need to read my posts for what they are. I didn't say anything bad about Ozzie. I explained what I said, so that you would understand... Hasek gets his share of negativism, in general and in this forum. You're the one making up the creative, over-the-top put downs on Oz (I actually like the evolutionary scale comparison), even though I know you're being sarcastic. I was going to say hyperbolic, but you make fun of me when I use big words. Peace, Offsides...
-
Clearly, sarcasm is a fine weapon. Whatever floats your boat. I never said Ozzie had no impact or a negative impact on the Wings. You decided that's what I said. I said Hasek had a big impact on the Wings win in 2002. That's a fact which has nothing to do with Ozzie. I didn't mention the GWG as a knock on Ozzie -- just saying that that is what some people remember, rather than his accomplishments. Which is too bad. You need to step back and not assume that I am zinging Ozzie everytime I mention anything, it's your interpretation that made it negative. It's Saturday and Ozzie's not in goal. Wait, there's no game today. For the record, I know Sabre fans who still just remember Dom letting in the GWG vs the Pens in 2001... that's all they remember. Not Hasek carrying the team to playoff after playoff, including the finals in 1999. They forget the fact that Hasek was the franchise in the 90's. So, it goes both ways. You don't need to get all wound up because it's me saying whatever I have to say. I am clearly not the only Hasek fan here.

Far be it from me to put words in the mouth of someone as eloquent as Crymson, but I think he objects to any notion that blithely dismissing Hasek as a factor in winning the Cup is a mistake. Numbers only tell so much of the story, and he posed a convincing counterpoint to the initial post. I suspect Crymson shares my dismay that there are folks in Wingland who believe Hasek had no impact on winning the Cup in 2002. That is ludicrous, but that is the way it is. I am sure some fans remember Ozzie letting in the GWG in the playoffs where we were ousted, which doesn't take away any contributions he made to the Cup win. It's just a matter of perception and personal opinion. I think we are lucky to have 2 Stanley Cup winners in goal. And you are correct, Offsides, what happens in regular season is (usually) no indication of what the playoffs will bring... 2002 being the exception.

Beautiful post, my friend. I couldn't possibly agree more with every point you made. Bravo. edit: if I could make it fit, I would make your post my signature!

http://www.nhl.com/nhl/app?service=page&am...ge=FrozenMoment click on the Frozen Moment header and check out the fan reactions Bobbert Lang was NHL.com's third star yesterday.

Without being overly dramatic about it, do we seriously think if Hasek is healthy (i.e., breathing) that Ozzie will see any more action in a playoff game than Legace did in 2002?
-
well, you may have to settle for a black one, or else go talk Ozzie out of his cap.
-
Officials make mistakes. This was a big one. And you are exactly correct. It was the quicky rule change that told me all I needed to know... aside from the fact that I was watching the game and saw it for myself. I can still see it...

I have seen this asked before. I am not sure, but I believe it's a Detroit Tiger's baseball cap. Are you talking about the red one with the white "D" in a sort of Gothic text? http://sportsfanoutlet.com/cat.cgi?k2q=DET...p;Submit=Submit I found it in black, but not red...
