Thanks for the pics, I was just about to go hunting for some. Love the one of Calder looking "fierce." Bert looks very happy. I hope this is a new beginning for him, and that it turns out well for the team.

I guess I don't think of Bertuzzi as a goon. He's big and tough, and obviously doesn't know his own strength, although he may have learned about it the hard way. If nothing else, the vision of a glowering, unhappy Bert might make players with evil intentions think twice about roughing up one of our guys or running the goalie. I certainly don't expect a repeat of the Moore incident. I believe it was an accident, one which Bertuzzi sincerely regrets. I like the concept of other teams recognizing the fact that we now have a player who won't back down from a fight and who will stand up for his team mates. We'll need that to survive, especially in the playoffs.

What is the greatest defenseman in red wings history doing today?

He's only mostly dead. Just kidding, he's coaching in Germany, last I heard... -
I was just going to say that. Fedorov. Afinogenov, I could understand messing up... It really lends credibility to any comment made about a player, if one can actually spell his name correctly. It also drives me nuts that announcers cannot pronounce names correctly or don't try. Last night the Det announcers were arguing over FILppula vs. FilpPUla. Help me? And Hasek is Hah-Shek, not some weird alteration of a simple name. Lordy... Larionov is one most people (non-Wings fans) can't spell right. Slightly OT: I don't know that people get the spelling wrong, but what was Ron Tugnutt thinking, becoming a goalie!!??

Wrist. That's it for Dom so far, and one game missed due to flu, which more than half the room caught. You're being reasonable. It won't work around here, but nice try! j/k

so far, the rule hasn't been needed, if you're a Red Wing. They don't fight. That's maybe why they forget to tie down their fight straps? That call on Lebda was just a technicality... the Hawk player effectively neutralized any chance Bret had of actually fighting by simply undressing him and pulling his jersey over his head so he couldn't see... Oh well, we won anyway.

Like you said, no one has a crystal ball. Hasek could be back. And that would be a great thing, if so. Hasek is like a fine sports car or a masterpiece of art. One of a kind, uniquely designed and special. He's the Wings' #1 goalie, and a large part of the equation that has the Wings where they are right now. What's not to like, if you're being reasonable about the situation? My tea leaves say Kenny will offer Dom the job again next season, if he wants to play again. I think he could come back again, health permitting, whether the Wings win a Cup or not this season. The drive is still there, and the desire, not to mention the skills. I will take a motivated, unpredictable Hasek over predictable and adequate goaltending, any old day. As for Bert, back on topic, let's see how he does... if he turns out to be another Hatcher-type mistake, then we can complain.

get 'em, HC! Very few people in this forum didn't want Hasek back, by the way. Worried about his health, perhaps, but willing to see what happened. That gamble has paid off nicely thus far. Bert could be more of the same. And as Vincanni said, let's give the guy a chance. I am more than willing to give him that chance, since I don't for a moment believe he intended to any permanent damage to Moore - it just happened. I hope Bert finds his game again in Detroit, and make a fresh start.

Hasek is worth more than any amount of money can convey to this team. He's underpaid for what he's doing for them this season. But he doesn't seem to care, so why should we?

I am happy Nolan is staying in the desert with Whine, and happier that he is not a Wing.

NHL.com Stars of the Game: 1. Homer 2. Mule 3. Dom* *who had nothing to do all night except stop breakaways and wraparounds and PK and get an assist on a goal, while killing 5-3s, but still somehow got a star. Gorsh, he's lucky (**sarcasm**) Wish Homer had gotten a hattie.
-
me, too... Homer's a fine fellow! I wish Center Ice didn't dump the feed the instant the game is over. Bummer.
-
sorry, I forgot to put in a giant sarcasm smilie on my comment. I am so sick of Detroit announcers not giving Dom any credit. You'd think they were calling for the other team. Oh, well, Dom did well even if it was just the Hawks.
-
me, too.
-
no, no, he didn't. The announcers have spent the entire game saying how Hasek's had nothing to do, despite stopping more than Khabi and winning. But, whatever...
-
Hasek stones the Hawks on a breakaway. And then loses his shut out. Bad line change, leaving Dom with no chance. Nice.
-
Calder is very lucky to be in one piece. Blackhawk player should have gotten more than 2 for boarding on that hit. Wow.
-
I sometimes wish Mule was a little more physical, in terms of being an intimidator. He's scary looking, sometimes.
-
you did. Think the Hawks want Hasek back in their goal? Announcers were just pontificating on the fact that Hasek has not been busy, stopping all 21 shots. Khabibulin has stopped 21, too, but let the other 4 in. I'll take that bored, lazy Hasek any day.
-
he's also done a pretty good job of "unassisting" the Hawks, too.
-
either that, or pass out from too much flu medicine. Nice puck handling from Dom... hey, it happens!! The crowd is chanting, Let's Go, Red Wings!!
-
that one was for Lebda!! Good on ya, Homer!! God, I love this guy! Get another hat trick, since the sucky Preds didn't appreciate the one you got the other night!! Neither will the sucky Hawks fans, but it would be fun to see, anyway.
-
well, here we go again... Wisniewski for roughing Hudler. That's all. Lilja managed to avoid getting involved in the "fight" that saw Lebda sent off for the night.
-
Ledba got a game misconduct? For what? He barely touched Holmqvist.
