17 and hiya!

I just meant on that particular save. 2 on 1 with a Hawk all alone on the doorstep? No problem. Why did they leave Cheli at home and put Lilja in there instead??? It's too late to "showcase" him for a trade. Dammit-anyway!! Where is Edi? edit: clarity

yah, Dom... who needs defensemen, anyway?
-
Welcome to Detroit, Kyle!! Know Khabi's flaws much?
-
ack, Devorski and Don Vancouver-Massenhoven.
-
I never thought Dom looked odd in a Wings jersey. Perfect! It did take me a while to get used to Hull and Lucky Luc, but they grew on me. I can't wait to see Bert in a Wings jersey.
-
Calder is wearing #17 and J Willee looks odd in a Hawks uni.

it's a playoff bonus, and most of it's tied to a Cup win, is my understanding. He's making $750,000 for the regular season.

Kenny gambles intelligently... he takes a risk and hopes for the best, like every other GM. Who's to say that Ryan Smyth won't break something his first shift out of the gate with his new team? It's all a crap-shoot, really. I support Kenny Holland, now and in the past. He does what he thinks is right for the team, and hopes like Hell that he doesn't get burned. With Bert, he's taking a calculated risk... but I have to believe he has researched and checked on every angle he can think of before committing to this deal. Good surprise, Kenny.... the only thing that would have pleased me more is seeing Jagr in a Wings jersey. -
wow, it's hard to get a word in edgewise around here today! I am happy with the pick-up of Bert, IF he can get healthy and play somewhere in the vicinity of his pre-2004 level. I worry about the back surgery, but if he can rehab and get back before the playoffs, this is a great addition. We need a player just like him, if not Bert himself. I just hope we don't wind up with a slightly less costly edition of Derian Hatcher, in terms of the injury and relative uselessness to the club. As for the incident with Moore, I believe Bertuzzi is sincerely sorry. He did his pennance and paid the fines required of him by the authorities... so we move on, now. I am more than willing to give the guy a chance as a Wing. I can't wait to watch other players bounce off that big body the way Cheli did, every time he flung himself on Bert in the 2002 playoffs! Kenny is a genius if this works out the way we hope. I, for one, won't second guess our GM -- he knows stuff we don't about this situation. and , Kenny!!

... you call us normal? Let's hope the Wings remember there is a game tonight, too. If we trade for Jagr at the deadline, can he get to Detroit fast enough to play tonight? ummm.. 4-1 Wings, J Willee with the single goal for Chicago.

Jagr for Lilja = Hasek for Stephane Beauregard. I would love to see Jagr in Detroit, but doubt that will happen...
-
Well, Guerin wasn't a force with Dallas, but San Jose is a different animal. I predict he will be great there, with Big Joe and Cheechoo. I am not giving up on our getting someone good yet. Go, Kenny! I am still holding out for a big surprise this afternoon!

http://www.buffalonews.com/editorial/20070225/1007837.asp If you are a Hasek fan, you will love this piece -- it's long, but very well done. If you are determined to dislike the Dominator, you will hate every word of it -- but you also might learn something, if you're willing. This article was written by sports editorialist, Bucky Gleason, from the Buffalo News. He may know Hasek better than pretty much anyone in professional sportswriting, having covered the Sabres' every move most of the near-decade that Dom was a Sabre. "He's really changed the style and influence of what goaltenders do," Coyotes coach Wayne Gretzky said. "It used to be that guy was just in the net. He changed all that. He made himself a part of a hockey club and a hockey team's success. He's a unique athlete, one of the best goaltenders to ever play the game." Dom is mellower than he was in the past, but thank goodness, hasn't lost his edge or unique approach to life and the game he loves. The vignettes on the changes in his style of play, the awesome thing he did for the kids' hockey team from Prague (oddly, not mentioned in the Detroit area news/sports outlets that Hasek arranged and paid for it), his honest appraisal of his own behavior, personal and professional... all revealing, or at least as much as you'll ever see revealed by the enigma that is still Hasek. Enjoy!

good morning! Just my 2 pesos on the game - which I watched after midnight here in Dallas on the re-broadcast in HD on my friend's big screen -- oh, my, yes!! 1. This game was not Ozzie's fault, IMO. One goal was soft, the others he didn't have much chance on. He didn't lose this game for the Wings any more than Dom lost the previous game for them. Like Dom, he was great when he was needed, but stuff happens and it's usually at least in part due to bad decisions on the parts of their team mates. As is the case with most games. Poor goalies... neither of them ever play well enough to suit us all, despite evidence to the contrary that they are both just fine! 2. Lang needs to go away, if he doesn't want to play. I love the guy, but he is not an asset at the moment. Play hard or sit down, Robert. 3. Forberg is in Nashville. Good. He spent half the game whining about his skate (was anyone surprised?) and the rest whining to a ref. At least every time I looked for him, he was whining or not on the bench. He didn't look good, until Kariya fed him a puck in front of Ozzie that even Lang would have had the energy to tip in. Related comment: Tkatchuk is not a Wing. Also good. Guerin, anyone? I haven't checked the main sites for what else happened in trades this weekend... OK, off for more coffee. Have a great day, all!

I am sorry Freddie is sick and pray he is able to recover, soon. Good luck, Freddie, you left me with great memories of 2002 Cup and season.

OMG, you're right! And you got the last word in. Wait.... no you didn't! But you probably will, 'cause I am going to breakfast now!

Read my comments. I said Dom made a mistake or at least from what I read here, he did, so I assume it's so. I didn't see the game and don't doubt he let in a goal he wishes he hadn't. I am pretty sure he didn't mean to, that's why it was a mistake or misplay. I just don't think it is necessary to start a thread to question his competence or his character or his abilities. It was a one goal decision, not an 8 goal blowout. If Hasek hasn't "caused" the goal, someone else would have. And we would have all complained about that, too. However, it usually doesn't degenerate into "yeah, Dom's undeniably a great player (said simply because, it's undeniable) but he is a degenerate, too." Enough of that, unless we start bringing out human mistakes in every other player here as the reason we occasionally lose a game and tie them to whatever whiffed goal chance or missed SO attempt. Cleary's drunk driving arrest when he was 19 is most certainly why he isn't scoring the GWG every game. RIght? No? It has no relation to an error in a game that cost the team? Then why does it apply to Hasek? Just because you generally try to get the last word in doesn't mean people agree with you (not all of us) or that you're right about Hasek... but I will say, I hope Ozzie doesn't make a mistake tonight.
-
Seriously, when anyone here can do anything, including play hockey as well as Hasek, then you can second guess him. Probably not until then, however. But opinions are fine, have fun if it makes you feel better to complain. The Wings players apparently don't question his motives or his talent, nor does Babcock or anyone else in the Wings organization. So, he made a misjudgement while trying to help his team. It's nothing every other player hasn't done at one point or another. Every player makes mistakes, it's just when it's Dom that it becomes a panic-driven crisis, worthy of its own thread. What I love is the fact that the complainers have apparently forgotten totally that Hasek was stellar just two days ago. The response to that effort was ho-hum, no big deal. But let him mis-step and the dogs are out. Wait til the playoffs and Hasek will be the difference maker, just as he was in 2002.

what Crymson said. Amen to you, brother...
-
I missed the game tonight, but anyone who wants to try to make a run for the Cup without Hasek in net, be my guest. It was one game, and a one goal loss. Get over it.
-
hey, ya'll.... no GDT tonight for me (yeah, I know... like you care!!) But I will be watching that NHL scoreboard at the Stars game tonight. Anaheim ought to hand them a loss tonight, Stars have five guys out injured, including Morrow and Lindros. Wish it was Wings and Stars but hockey is hockey, eh? You guys look out for our Wings tonight, OK? I really hope they can a) win and b) more importantly, have no injuries. I don't understand why Babs is going with Dom tonight and Ozzie vs. Nashvile tomorrow... but, oh, well. Wishing both of them luck and a BIG win! see you later!

Hasek is lazy and he sucks. Poor ol' Dom, taken for granted by even HR40, I reckon. j/k
