Hanker with posts, almosts, and just missed, and it's not even 3 minutes in.

"Well, he doesn't stop talking and he's annoying," Draper began, laughing, "and those are two of his finer characteristics."

If Dom makes it through to the playoffs and continues the way he's playing, he should be a top contender for the Masterson, if not the Vezina (too political, he won't win). The fact that Dom's been injured in the past isn't unique. A lot of players get injured and can't continue -- they just don't become the center of controversy because of it. Being out injured seems to be somehow blameworthy, when it comes to Hasek. He's Hasek, and he's always been a lightening rod for the media. I find it interesting, therefore, that the media are ignoring the proverbial 800 pound gorilla this season. Bucci and a few others were high on Dom in the past, and have made predictions that turned out bad, so it appears they won't make that mistake again this season. That way, they can't be wrong in print. I heard Darren Pang say, after Dom was injured in Ottawa, that he would not make the mistake of "trusting" Hasek to stay healthy all season. As if it's a matter of integrity or personal worth that Hasek was not able to get back and play? Why wouldn't he play and win and make millions in bonuses, if he were physically capable of doing it? When Dom isn't mentioned or noticed when he's the NHL player of the month (December), breaking records for wins by a goalie over 40, or when his other contributions go unnoticed or are dismissed and/or diminished (he's number 1 in the NHL again in GAA), it makes sense to me. Sometimes, I think it's a way of reverse-jinxing the possibility that Hasek could get hurt and "let everyone down" again. PS - We all have to make up our own minds which players are valuable and which aren't. This is just my opinion... no need to try and contradict or chastise me for thinking what I think... OK?
-
yourself. How do you even know what I meant? I can't have an opinion? Guess not.
-
I obviously don't know what Dom thinks, and didn't say I did. I said I "guess" That means I don't know for sure, 'cause I am guessing, see? His body language sure says "get lost". I just thought someone ought to point out that the entire thread is imaginary, as far as I know. I am fairly certain if Hasek ever even thought about saying "boo" to one of these chicas, it would probably be front page news on sports pages across the US and Canada, don't you? Therefore, the topic of the thread didn't happen, to the best of my knowledge. Of course, I don't see the slush-shovelling activities during TV breaks, since I see commercials. I have seen Hasek do the stone-goalie, parked in his crease, in person, in Dallas. Not sure what they do in Detroit, but if they install cheerleaders, like the Canes, I will be very disappointed. Does Motown really have to worry about getting fans to show up at games? I thought every single one was sold out?

I am shocked. Not.

There was no confrontation and Dom never said a word to any of them, literally. He ignored them until they gave up and went away. As it should be! I saw Dom do the exact same thing in Dallas that he's doing to the Isles ice-hos. He doesn't like the distraction and interruption, I would guess. He stood just like that in the crease in Dallas and stared at the scoreboard, refusing to move... and why should he? I suspect Dom is sort of "old-school" and doesn't think the media/marketing ploy of having half-dressed bimbos on the ice every TV break serves any particular purpose. If they ever stooped to installing slush-shovellettes in Detroit, I would be shocked. Al the Octopus Man is classic, keep him! Just as a post-script to this, there was a young man sitting next to me in Dallas who was as disgusted/amused as I was (especially when one of them fell on her a** and the entire arena howled with laughter). Dom was gentlemanly enough to lean over and ask if she was OK. I think she was scared of him, she left real fast. I am with Dom on this one.

I don't see this happening. For one thing, the Buffalo News reported on Feb. 6, that Barnaby may be considering retirement after numerous concussions, the last of which in December rendered him temporarily blind in one eye. His wife reminded him that he might wish to survive for the sake of their two small children.... If he is worried about taking the ice in Dallas, why would we want to risk him coming to Detroit? No, thank ya.

did you miss me? One of my friends went to bed and the other one is snoring on my couch now. I taped the game so I can go back and enjoy Hank's exploits (and watch Wayne whine, as usual...) I also cannot believe J Willee missed the EN. I laughed out loud when he did that. are you a happy girl, Kira??

Hi, kids... I watched the game, but have company from outta town, so I waited til they fell asleep to post! But I made them watch the game with me. Even my non-hockey-fan friends were impressed with Hank. Amazing effort, great win, congrats on the hattie, Z! Dom was Dom, quietly efficient, and hr saved the game with the pad-stack move, they could have tied it up. He didn't get a star, but he should have. Oh, well. He got a great, solid win with his son there with him on the trip, that's pretty special. Congrats, Hank!! Your papa must be so proud.

I am amazed this season at the way the Wings can play ho-hum hockey for the first 40 minutes (and make me want to throw things at them!) and then apparently say to themselves, "Well, hmmm... let's go out in the third and just embarrass the crap out of [fill in team here] and win... what'dya say, guys?" They are just sick with skills and don't exploit it half the time. I just want to say, aside from that one goal, which I know Ozzie wants back, he was great last night. I am taking into consideration how little he's played and the long stretch before this game when he has had no game action, just practices where he couldn't even take shots most of the time. Veteran performance, under the circumstances. I am really glad to have him back. Thank you, Wings, for not making me have to hide at work today from my Stars' fan colleagues. I shake my head at them and smile slightly with pity in my eyes, and say, "Well, what could the Stars do, when Z and Dats decided to make magic?" ~snicker~ BTW, am I the only one who thinks Zetterberg is channelling Stevie Y, at times? He reminds me of Stevie, when he does those patient, dangling passes, or comes out of nowhere with a pass like last night, where the goalie never saw it coming. It's lovely to see. I almost fell out of my chair last night when Z passed that puck to Dats.

Totally agree. Some players give their salary back to their clubs when injury leads to a disappointing season. Some don't. Oh, well. I don't want him back here, but I am sure Hatcher would be thrilled with such an appointment!
-
I think he may have meant Homer. Typing too fast... But Zetterberg is good enough to be two people. He was amazing tonight. Stars fans saw greatness tonight on their ice, and it was wearing a winged wheel. His daddy must be incredibly proud right now.
-
lovely!! Thank you, Dats!!
-
of course, that's it.

So they're gonna see how many they can go without scoring a goal? ah, well... maybe they will surprise us in the third. They should have scored on Smith when he was without his stick, but they couldn't beat him. Turco would have spazzed out and we'd have had a goal.
-
Oh, honey, I wouldn't even say Ozzie and Mac in the same breath. Ozzie looks determined, even if the rest of them are not there yet. Ozzie was out of position on the lone goal... but it happens, eh? He's doing well for having been out so long. This is a good game for him to work back in. I just wish the Wings would go the other way, and put some decent chances on Smith... cannot win with no goals. Unless we're going on a scoreless, winless streak? Say it isn't so...
-
he's a miracle worker, trust me. I pay enough for "sassy", too.
-
very sassy... my *** hairdresser says that a lot.
-
nice save on that little rush, Oz. Hold the fort, so we can maybe get our average of 2 goals in the third. After that embarrassment by Philly, I expected the Wings to come out a little more determined than this.
-
Announcers refer to yapping at the blue line as "detestation." They also say the 1 goal lead is likely to be the game winner. um... well, perhaps so.
-
these Dallas color guys kill me. Ozzie makes a nice glove save. Their comment: "Sassy glove, there!"
-
these looney Dallas announcers are in love with Williams... maybe we could get them to trade us Stu Barnes for him or something. At least Stuey knows what to do with a gimme pass like Lang just sent Willee, and he flat out missed it with Smith completely out of the play. augh...
-
you're right, even the library buzz that passes for crowd noise at AA is better than the announcers, sometimes. I have center ice, but it's FSN SW feed and the audio is fine. Maybe your local cable co. is having problems. If it's Comcast Dallas, I believe that's your problem.

Wide open net... wow. I cannot believe Kronner is hurt again.
