This team has been a rush team the past 2 years. Puck possession kind of fell apart after 2009. On another note, Howard is getting ample time to get back into game shape.

Huh? I thought stats were different because in the previous game ratings were based on player type (e.g. enforcer, sniper, etc..) but now it's a position basis, forwards and defense. So players that were particularly good at their role like an enforcer are now rated a lot lower because they are, overall, below average forwards.

Seriously, how is this suppose to happen when pending FAs are almost always signing extensions with their teams? Should we have offer sheeted 150million to Weber? Should we have thrown the bank at Suter for 120 million? That's how basketball teams are built but it doesn't work so well in the NHL. You can't have 3 great players and a bunch of AHLers.

Good luck with that. Any team with a proven young talent is not going to let them go. There were, what, 3 good young FAs this year? People make it sound like the NHL is saturated with 19-25 year old studs and Holland refuses to acquire any of them.

If a guy puts up 100-120pts every season, but has concussion problems, you take that chance. He played 22 games and still put up 37 pts.

Ericsson looked great at the end of the year. His D looked better than Kronwall's most of the time. There was that 1 game where Lids was out and E played on the top pair and Detroit got their asses handed to them. He looked bad, but so did the rest of the team, so I don't know if it was a good example or not.

The draft order would be something like this: 1. OEL 2. Yandle 3. Smith 4. Vrbatta Detroit would probably have pick 20 or so.

People forget about Joakim Andersson. He didn't look terrible in the NHL last year and he's a big body.

Ericsson was our 2nd best D man in the playoffs this year. E has made great strides. He will never be a point producing defenseman, but when it comes to PK or shutting down the opposition he has improved a ton.

I think it's time to start fast tracking these prospects. A youth movement might be a good thing. Unfortunately, it seems, the only way to build your franchise back up is either albatross contracts, or drafting.

Maybe we should just ice this current lineup and see what happens. Defense by committee. I think Babs is going to have to go to a different playing style. I'm not sure our backend can support the puck-possession system.

The Wild were elite last year for half the season before running out of steam. I think they might be in the top 3 in the West this year.
