    Because management obviously didn't feel he was that great of a prospect. Disagree with their assessment all you will, but they usually know what they're doing. Dats and Z made the NHL roster at 22 and produced. Jarnkrok is all ready 22 and has yet to see an NHL game. Just because he's our supposed best center prospect doesn't make him an elite prospect.

    None of this makes any sense at all. You're telling me that the defense corps is worse than having Andersson as the 1C? You would rather roll with Andersson as our number 1 center than have Dekeyser, and Quincy as the #3/4 dmen? You're whole theory is banking on Jarnkrok becoming a stud. You want to bank the season on Jarnkrok becoming a star?

    NHL players are harder to come by than AHL players.

    Filpula was a better prospect than ironhook. Jarnkrok was still 2 years away, and is all ready 22. I really can't understand what all the fuss is about.

    WHY???!!! Because he had a bad 22 games? That's less than 4% of his NHL career. People assessing his worth on those 22 games are not seeing a clear picture.

    Thank you! Hudler produced better than Jarnkrok at 18 years old in the AHL. Did Hudler ever make it to top prospect? Did he make it to franchise player? Losing Jarnkrok sucks, but he isn't the next Zetterberg. Zetterberg didn't touch the AHL. Jarnkrok's projections was 2nd line at best.

    I made a quick spreadsheet of all the transactions KH has orchestrated since 2009. It is insanely unimpressive. It's just trades/signings. I didn't add drafting, because who knows how that will turn out.

    You have to hedge your bets. What's more likely, Legwand helps fill a void and improve the team, or Andersson becomes a serviceable 1C and Jarnkrok is a superstar? EDIT Instead of superstar let's say better than Legwand.

    There's time to get more center prospects. There isn't time to find a patch for the Wings. This trade makes sense from almost all risk management perspectives.

    I went to the Caps game in Feb and was sad that Dats wasn't playing. Then Nyquist hat trick'd, so I was happy. Maybe Franzen will roid rage and score 5 goals.

    Well lets look at it objectively. Jarnkrok is 22 and done f*** all in North America.

    Babcock is gonig to have to run a defense by committee. Not a lot of scoring, just log down play it safe hockey.

    OR....OR... Of those players you listed 2 are in the NHL. Now there's no doubt a lot of those guys may become something great, but who knows? On the flip side, how many of those trades/FA signings have panned out?
