LA was 2 points shy of 3rd in the West because they played in a weak division. This is what I see: Anaheim hasn't gotten any worse and two of their top 3 forwards are going to be in contract years. Expect them to make a harder push. Dallas got better Columbus...well...it's Columbus. Calgary got Hudler Edmonton is young but could surprise people. Minnesota got way better Colorado stayed mostly the same Phoenix will get worse if they lose Doan Nashville will probably be fine enough to get into the playoffs without Suter Last year, the Central Division was mostly strong, with 4 out of 5 teams making the playoffs, all of which attaining over 100 points. Meaning we had to beat a lot of other teams in our conference and win a good portion of our non-conference games to make that 102 point total. Breaking it down: 24 games played against division (6 games against each division team, 48 possible points) 40 games played against conference (4 games against each non-division team in the West, 80 possible points) 18 games played against East (at least 1 game against each team, three teams will be played twice, 36 possible points) Since we got weaker and Chicago and St. Louis mostly stayed the same, we could expect to hopefully get around 20-30 points realistically within our division. Meaning at least 80 points need to come from our remaining 58 games in order to probably safely make the playoffs. We'd need to get 1.379 points per game against the rest of the West, which as a whole probably got better, and the East, which balanced itself out a bit. I think it's going to be a little tougher than you think. Especially when you consider teams like Edmonton that might not necessarily have a shot at the playoffs next season (unless they surprise some people like I said), but they sure have a fun time spoiling our point-getting fun year after year. I just hope it doesn't come in abundance from teams that were mostly irrelevant last year.

Since LGW is likely to be pretty slow until the end of June, I figured I'd throw together a little idea I had for what I thought our WC jerseys could look like. A couple pieces of history here and there (inverted logo, Detroit Cougars "D" on the shoulder), as well as a little deeper red trim for a vintage-ish look. Anyway, let me know what you think. I have the PSD file, so I can edit it as much as I want, so suggestions are welcome and I'd be willing to attempt any other mock-ups anyone might like to see (within my abilities).

Yeah, it wouldn't really stop anyone from making a simple change, removing the copyright and then claiming it as their own. However, since I only made these a few days ago, and from the sound of the email I got, the actual designs have been in the works for a while, so I doubt it would have really mattered. Plus, if someone did make it public they used my design without my permission, I have the original photoshop .psd files, which I never distributed, so I could definitely make a claim that they were my original works. Either way, I'm just excited to see what they're going to end up going with and if I got anywhere close to it. Unfortunately, judging by last year's reveal, that didn't happen until November if I recall correctly, so we've got a while.

All I did was google a jersey template and then manipulate the colors and whatnot in Photoshop. I downloaded a NHL fonts package and all the numbers/letters match those used on the jerseys. Then a little copy/paste of some logos and voila!

UPDATE: After filling out an email form briefly detailing that I had an idea for the design (not sending any pictures or anything), I got a reply from the VP of Marketing Rob Mattina: So, that ends that. I was halfway tempted to send him what I had anyway just so he could take a look, but I doubt anything would really come of it in the long run anyway. So, I'll just leave it as a hobby. However, he did say they were almost complete with the designs, so maybe we'll see something similar to what I, or some of the other LGW members have designed in the recent past. Should be interesting to find out!

Yeah, just imagine they are the same color...the angle of my computer screen made them look the same as the rest of the off-whites.

I can't even begin to thank you for everything in this post. You're awesome. I appreciate you taking the time to pass your knowledge of this kind of stuff to me. All in all, like I said, obviously it would be cool to get paid, but if the organization essentially said "hey dude, sorry, you used our logo, so if you expect any money, tough. But...ehhh...is it cool if we still use it? No? Tough," then they did use it, I frankly don't give a damn. Potentially seeing my design on the ice would be more than enough for me. But yeah, the money thing, I'll try that first

Yeah, thanks for the heads up. I actually thought of that too. I would obviously see what they could do for me before I sent them anything, but if they wouldn't budge on that then I wouldn't be too disappointed to send them something anyway because the recognition would be mind blowingly cool.
