    Alexander Semin Resigned 1yr/$6M

That's just too much cash for Semin.

    My wife really likes Semin.

Hank, Ericsson back on road trip?

Ken and Mickey said January 2nd against the Coyotes. We need all the fire power we can get to beat the yotes. They are a solid team this year.

No doubt Red Wings have a bright future with defensemen prospects. I think they have quite a few diamonds that will surprise a lot of people.

It's a 2 week road trip. So hopefully they play sooner than later.

With All These Injuries; Here Comes Howard!

I'm hearing that name a lot this year. Is he the real deal?

    Chicago vs Dallas 12-29-09

Coyotes look like the real deal this year. I would not be surprised if they don't finish first in the west or 2nd behind the Sharks. We're going to play them January 2nd and I'm looking forward to it. Dan Cleary is suppose to make his debut back for that game. Anyone else think the presidents trophy is going to the East this year. Devils are on FIRE! They are quietly winning a lot games. They keep it up, they are going to be a favorite to win the cup. The thought of the cup going to the east two years in a row kills me. Hopefully Wings get healthy in time to start rolling... so we can stop them in the finals!

With All These Injuries; Here Comes Howard!

Are there any other rookie goaltenders playing as many games as Howard and doing this well (this season)?

So glad Ducks beat Minny. Really blows that Yotes and Vancuver went into OT. 3-point games do not help the cause.

    Mathieu Schneider on waivers

Glad Holland didn't take him. Shew!

    Patrick Eaves Watch Thread.

To put things into perspective. Holland was looking at a couple of other UFAs before signing Eaves. There was: Taylor Pyatt - Salary $600,000 * Left Wing * Height: 6-4 * Weight: 230 * Shoots: Left * Born: Aug 19, 1981 - Thunder Bay, Ontario * Draft: 1999 - 1st round (8th overall) by the New York Islanders Stats this year: 33 games / 6-goal / 4-assists / 10-points / +12 Next up is: Manny Malhotra - Salary $700,000 * Height: 6-2 * Weight: 217 * Shoots: Left * Born: May 18, 1980 - Mississauga, Ontario * Draft: 1998 - 1st round (7th overall) by the New York Rangers Stats this year: 39 games / 7-goal / 7-assists / 14-points / +7 And our guy: Patrick Eaves - Salary $500,000 * Height: 6-0 * Weight: 188 * Shoots: Right * Born: May 1, 1984 - Calgary, Alberta * Draft: 2003 - 1st round (29th overall) by the Ottawa Senators Stats this year: 29 games / 4-goal / 6-assists / 10-points / +5 The first two guys are UFA after this year while Eaves is a RFA, which means Holland should get a draft pick in return for Eaves if he leaves to another team. I think Kenny made the right choice.
  13. There's a chance Lidstrom may want to retire. If so, that's $7.5 to play with. Would spending it on Ilya Kovalchuk be the way to go and have Kronwall/Stuart as the top pair? If Holland did that he'd have to find another D-man. I guess with Maltby, Williams, Bert and Homstrom's contracts coming off the books, Holland will have some funds for a 4th defenceman. I hope he keeps Eaves, Miller and Bert. The thought of Lidstrom retiring makes me sad, but it's going to happen sooner than later. I'm not liking Ralfi's contract anymore.
  14. **Mathieu Schneider** Injury note Day-to-Day as of Dec 23, 2009 (Personal reasons) http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/players/448 No thank you.

I wouldn't expect to see Tatar on the roster anytime soon.

I've read this kid is physical. Is he Stuart physical? He's got some size that's for sure.

    Chicago vs Dallas 12-29-09

As much as it pains me to say this, Dallas Stars looks very impressive. They completely exposed Hawks. And Crawford(?) completely out coached Quinnville. I'm so glad this was not a 3-point game.

    Chicago vs Dallas 12-29-09

Can anyone tell me why Ott got the penalty for, what looked like to me, a clean hit? He got 2 minutes for playing hockey. Guess refs decided that nobody shall touch the poor little hawky players. What p*ssies!

    Chicago vs Dallas 12-29-09

Dallas scored an easy goal. That's why Huet won't take Chicago deep into the playoffs.
  20. Miller Brew

    Chicago vs Dallas 12-29-09

As much as I want Chicago to lose, I really don't want Dallas to win. I don't really care too much about the game other than I DO NOT want to see a 3-point game. Don't really care who wins, really. **NO 3-POINT GAME PLEASE**

Would you take Ilya Kovalchuk if Lidstrom retires?

If Holland and Co. didn't think so they probably wouldn't have invested so much into Howard, they'd likely had shipped him out and resigned Conkin... or even signed Cloutier or Craig Anderson. Holland decided Howard was the way to go.

Would you take Ilya Kovalchuk if Lidstrom retires?

Williams and Lilja will be gone and Holmstrom's contract is set to expire. That should give the Wings over $3 million boost. I doubt Kovy will ever be a Wing either... but having that cap space sure makes things look good.

    Lijia needs a which doctor!

I think you are right. Sad to see his career end like that.

    Howard deserved a better fate

Clearly I'm on a downward spiral. The ship is sinking...

That's what he said in post #81 in this thread. .........
