No. If the Wings had a healthy roster, Leino wouldn't have so much pressure, which would give him more time to adapt to the big league (on the 3rd line). When the season started I thought Leino-Flip-Williams looked dynamite together. Leino showed nice flashes with Zetterberg after Flip went down, but I think matching up against 2nd liners and top defenders took what little confidence Leino had. I'm sure Holland is not giving up on Leino.

Report: Jeff Carter has affair w/ Scott Hartnell's wife

I never even heard of BleacherReport until today, so I don't know how reliable it was. I just thought it fit this thread which is why I posted it. Its anyone's guess to how accurate the rumor is. -
Would you take Ilya Kovalchuk if Lidstrom retires?

Don't kill the messenger. Obviously, I know as much as you about the Kovalchuk / Atlanta negotiations, which is little to nothing. -

An article came out today that Kovalchuk is looking to cash in for the max allowed for an individual player $11.36 million per. http://slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Columnists/Steve...262836-qmi.html Whoever is willing to pay that salary will destroy their hockey club. -
Just as I said back on pg. 2 or 3. It was a lateral 4th line move. Nothing was expected from either player and neither player would have been the savior. I guess some posters here wanted Wings to goon it up, so I guess if this is what Babcock wanted to do, his best option would have been Newbury... if that were the case.

He's an UFA in July. No trade necessary if he makes free agency. From what I've read Atlanta and Kovy negotiations aren't going so well, in fact Alanta's GM is talking about trading him before deadline. I'm hoping for a Hossa scenario, trade to any team that can't afford him next year (like Hossa was to the Pens) then during FA Holland snags him to a 10-year deal. There were talks that Boston and Atlanta were negotiation a trade yesterday (I can't find the link). Today there's talks of Kovy going to the Flyers for Carter http://bleacherreport.com/articles/313870-...chuk-for-carter -
Did you know Chicago chants "DETROIT SUCKS" when the Hawks are playing other teams? The Detroit Red Wings are not even in the building, why would they do this? Source: s***cagonow Personally, I think it's really classless to chance "insert.name.here sucks" chants no matter what teams are playing. I would never participate in this *if* it sparked at the Joe. Though I can't recollect "sucks" chants happening at the Joe....

You sig is annoying.

Sharp may be on the block next year when Hawks are forced to have a fire sale.

Don't forget Pittsburgh. -
While Brodeur has very respectable stats, numbers and career, if you watch games with Hasek in his prime compared to Brodeur in his prime, you'll see Hasek was light years ahead of Brodeur. Hasek started his career in the NHL too late to out-do a lot stats & numbers.

I don't like that hit but if Alfredsson did, indeed, touch the puck, then was a clean hit.

No he was out with the flu. Kindl played. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/injuries/

Abdelkader. He has a bright future with the Red Wings.

*If* Wings had healthy players Wings would be in 1st place. *If* Wings stopped one goal against Dallas the other night, they'd be in 8th place right now. *If* Nabokov plays like that in the playoffs, they'll sweep Chicago (if they meet).

GOT ROBOCOP? -
Not having Zetterberg is really steep for this team. I think with Zetterberg in the line-up Wings would have took a couple of wins from Chicago. I haven't seen anything from Chicago that impressed me. I have a feeling the cup is going back to the east again if Wings aren't 100% by playoff time.

I don't think it's going to be that difficult for the team to click. Team chemistry? Filppula returns Saturday and Ritola/Newbury are no longer and Wings just got that deeper at center. Our PK and PP just that much better.' Ralfi should be back on Saturday as well. He'll eat up more minutes and spreads out the D options. Early January, Kronwall returns and Janik is sent back down. That's HUGE! He was one of our best d-men this year, even if he's 75% back to form, he's 70% than we had and will eat up more minutes, and our PP just got that much better (and relieves pressure of Lidstrom). Early January, Cleary returns. That gives Babcock the option to sit Leino. Our PP just got better and we're going to have a clutch player back in the line-up. 1 week after Cleary returns, Zetterberg comes back. His presence alone will lift this team to new heights. Our PP and PK just got that much better and we got a guy who will make things happen whenever he's out on the ice. This will relieve so much pressure off Dats and Bert. Plus we can send sit one of Malby or May or whoever isn't contributing 110% every night. By that time Ericsson will be back, our PK just got that much better and now our D is back to full power and that's going to relieve so many minutes off Stuart, Lidstrom and Lebda. And Meech gets bumped out. Ericsson or Meech? You decide. Perhaps Williams will return before Ericsson or about the same time. But he should be back around the time Zetterberg returns any how. He's the missing element to make our PP lethal. His goal scoring will be appreciated. After break Franzen should be back. I agree he might not be the Franzen he was before he went down, but his presence alone is a HUGE boost. And a player like Franzen is still going to score goals, the guy has hands. I think that looks pretty good, really. Just getting our defencemen back and Flip, Zetterberg, and Cleary is HUGE. This is much better than we're icing now. -

Yes and no. The players are professional and are doing what they can to stay in shape (take Franzen for example). Then look at the long break in February. All teams are going to need to get back into form. So will Wings be that far behind after break? I don't think so. I think it'll be like a fresh season, except our players are going to be extremely hungry. -
That's it, Wings aren't winning the Presidents trophy, dammit.

My wife wants to see Holmstrom's dangle, mainly because she has the hots for him. True story.
-
Guess Stuart, Kronwall and Abdelkader didn't get that memo.

Red Wings hockey is heart, resilient, never-say-die unmerciful hockey. Think Steve Yzerman; he never gave up and never knew the word "quit" or "give up", instead he elevated his game and the rest of the team followed. That, my friend, is true Red Wings hockey. And it still very much exists in this locker room - killer instincts. That's one thing Chicago can't 'copy' from the Red Wings.
