In case anyone is unsure, I like Drew Miller. I think the kid will be in the NHL for many years to come. He has a great positive attitude and works his butt off.

In all fairness to both teams and to the Blackhawk fans, even with the Red Wings $30-million-dollar-roster, the Blackhawks are still beatable. So making excuses for our injuries isn't really fair, because had we shown up and played Red Wings hockey and showed an ounce of intensity, Wings would be walking away with 2-points and Hawks would be left with 0-points. Nothing jumped out to me that made me think Hawks are a superior team this year, Wings just didn't show up. Call it back-2-back road games or just taking the night off, I don't know.. but Wings could have beat the Hawks last night had our boys bothered to show up. No excuses, Wings were not the better team and it showed on the scoreboard. Congrats to the Hawks for stealing two points from us and taking 1st place. Hopefully Wings bring a better game on Wednesday.

If Chicago Blackhawk fans want use this game to measure their team's overall talent then lets use it to measure the St.Louis Blues talent too. Blues are better against the Wings than the Blackhawks. So when healthy, Blues are worthy contenders, Blackhawks are not. Here's why: Blackhawks shutout Wings without our best shutdown foward and one of the best players in the League, Zetterberg. They beat us after back-2-back road games on the road. And the beat us with our coldest goaltender who hasn't played very many games this year. and they beat us without our top rookie defencemen in Ericsson. The Blues, however, shut us out on home ice after we had 3 days rest. The Blues shut us out with Zetterberg and Ericsson both in the lineup and they beat us with our hottest goalie in net. Clearly the Blues are going to be worthy rivals for the Red Wings when healthy, not the Blackhawks. This is using the Chicago Blackhawks mentality, of course.

Tell Kane that Abdelkader says hi and he'll be looking forward to seeing him again on Wednesday
-
For sure the Hawks were the better team tonight. I hope Wings bring their A game on Wednesday. It'll be nice having the schedule favor us. Hawks are playing 3 games in 4 nights? Wings finally get a little breather with their schedule.

After the game today Larry was talking about the Hawks. I agree with Larry when he said expect Black Hawks to bring their "A" game - best of the season - against us, because with Wings depleted line up, this is the best opportunity for the Hawks to (try) to take advantage... considering how we're still only lingering a few points back on them. Hawks are going to want to reinforce the lead against us because they know once Detroit gets some players back, we're going to start gaining (and probably surpass them) in the standings. So that makes these next 2 games even more important for the Hawks. So expect Hawks to bring their best game against Detroit's $33 million dollar roster (Griffins AHL Hockey). I was hoping Black Hawks would take us for granted, but we all know they need these wins as much as we do, due to how tight the standings are between us. We play them 5 more times this season and Wings (should be somewhat healthy) by the last few games where we can take some more points from them. That said, I'm starting to think that it may not be the BlackHawks to be as concerned about, Preds seem to be the hottest team in our division right now, and could easily sneak by to take 1st place while Hawks / Wings beat the s*** out of each other. Glad we just recently beat the Preds. Now lets beat those Hawks. I think we can still beat them despite our $33 million dollar roster and depleted line up. Wings are the best organization in the league, and we're showing everyone why; we're still kicking ass. -- I smell a Chicago upset, btw - They're quickly going to learn what Red Wings hockey really is; gutsy, resilient, determination, hard working guys despite having only a $33 mil roster Go Wings Griffins!

I doubt Howard would have stopped that first goal as it looked like it deflected off another player then in. The last two were weak. That said, that first goal was all on the refs, since when is bumping someone's elbow with the tip of your stick a 'hooking'? If that was a hooking, then Hawks had about 63 hooking infractions that game, to the refs standards. It was a BS call.

That was a thing of beauty. In another play Malby decimated some Hawky... after the hit the Hawky p*ssy flopped around like a rag doll. Their team is f'in soft! Glad to see Griffins made of fool of them physically. It caused me to revisit some Vladi, Kocur, McCarty memories.

That's the game Franzen scored on Hawks with a torn ACL, Zetterberg was nursing a pulled groin and we didn't have THE HELMster or Lilja (our best stay at home defencemen). I'd say it was pretty much a wash if you want to calculate what team was worse off.... and we still came up with a "W". Just proves Franzen can't be stopped even on one leg. The guy is a f'cking BEAST! One thing is for certain, 1961

This tea is built on a foundation of a system. With many of our injuries, our players who excel in this system are out and we are depending on rookies and AHL players to 'learn' this system, and get skilled in part of a system they are not programmed for. So Babcock has no choice but to throw players in a position they are not built for. That weakens the entire system as a whole. Osgood was rusty his 40 minutes was solid after he warmed up in the 3rd. Dats has been great Leino is forced into place he's not built for. The guy hasn't even been groomed for the NHL, and now we are trying to depend on him. He was good with Flip and Williams, both of whom are out injured. Leino should be on the 3rd line with Flip and Williams and slowly given more responsibility. I feel bad for the guy, actually. I for one am not going to hit the 'panic' button. This team has been amazing. We lost 2 road games back to back., it can happen to the best of teams, let alone to an injured Red Wings team. I know we are known (and expected) to be the "best", but it's hard to be the "best" when your best players are out.

Then the first game after the Blues we played and beat the Blackhawks. Lol
-
Hawks beat the Wings Griffins 3-0 after playing a back-2-back road trip. Hawks fans are probably planning the cup parade as I type this.
-
Can't down this team for a loss, bro. They played just yesterday, and, needless to say they played a lot the past couple weeks. Osgood looked rusty, unfortunately but was solid in the third -- too little, too late. Hopefully he starts in the next game. After next game we have 3 more games (when we have a nearly a full healthy roster) to take these points back. Don't be all bitter about a loss with an AHL roster playing back-2-back... Replay Abby's pwnage on 88. It'll make you smile, I promise

I said in another post if Wings lose I want to see Hawks' get physically pounded. We lost and, yet, Wings decimated some Hawky p*ssies, it was a pure thing of beauty! Seeing Kane cry like a little girl made me smile. Sorry that I'm not sorry for being sadistic like that. I'm sure Vladi, D-mac and Kocur were smiling too.

Wow, Abdelkader completely decimated Kane. :D That was a beautiful hit! I bet that hit made that (old man) taxi driver happy!. Did you guys see the Maltby hit just behind the camera? Who did he level? All I saw was a Hawks' player fling across like a rag doll. Hawks got f'ing punished tonight! Lol. I didn't expect Wings to win without Zetterberg plus another $20-something million roster out of the game going back-2-back, but I'll take the beating the boys put on their top guys! Anyone else see Lidstrom school Toews one-on-one in our defensive zone? That was a play of beauty... and those sick moves Datsyuk put on Seabroke and Keith, they didn't know how to handle the Dangler and got embarrassed on a few plays. Dats is so much freaking fun to watch! I am disappointed that Bert let up on a hit against Madden (or maybe it was Ladd?), he had him in his sights and could have destroyed him at the blue line, but he let off the gas at the last second. That would have been the hit of the year if Bert had followed through with his size and speed. Maybe even put that player out for the rest of the year. He should have nailed him. What's up with Toews getting all sour with Abdelkader after his clean hit on 88? He strattled on top of Abby like he wanted to have sex with him.. haha! And we get the penalty? Refs sure wanted to send a message to protect BlackHawks stars... what p*ssies! After Abby's hit, Kane skated back to the bench and stood at the doorway while Buffugilain (sp) ran his fingers through Kane's hair, it look like he was saying "It'll be okay sweaty, the ref is taking of it right now, he's making that meanie Red Wings' player go to the penalty box now, ok hunny." Hawks are really that big of p*ssies? Dude, this is hockey, it's a contact sport... if you can't take the physical game, then maybe you should find a new career, like maybe nitting with Martha Stewart. Oh well, Wings used up all their gas against Dallas... the next two days off will be good for the boys. They've played their asses off for the past 3 weeks straight.

You are correct, Franzen scored a goal against the Hawks with a torn ACL. Thanks for refreshing my memory. Helm and Lilja was out. Zetterberg was also having groin issues. That said, why make excuses? We won! Just like we did last year in the playoffs against the Hawks when we had a bunch of key injuries. I wouldn't be surprised if Wings win again with their current AHL lineup, after all we did last year in the playoffs. I would certainly be very happy if we win with our $33 million dollar roster I'm so f'ing proud of my team. They are playing through the impossible, and winning more times than not. No team in the NHL could endure what this team has endured.
-
I'm giving us a 40% chance if Hawks play their best game. And a 50% chance if Hawks take us for granted. If Zetterberg was in the lineup, I would expect a win and anything less would be disappointing. I'm not going to cry over spilled milk if we walk away with a point tonight, considering the circumstances. Losing Z was a huge blow, I was confident (by the we were playing with him in the line-up - w/ our kick-ass winning streak) Wings' would beat the Hawks. Losing Zetter is huge because we lost his complete shut-down presence. I'm not as confident that Abdelkader can shut down Toews or Hossa entirely. That said, I think he would destroy Kane with a blazing hit if Babcock get's the opportunity to putting him against Kane's line. I want to see May, Abdelkader, Helm, Newbury, Stuart, Bert, Janik, Maltby to dominate the Hawks physically. I want them to destroy every top Hawk player like Kronwall did against Havlat last year. Have no mercy, show no doubt
-
I sure hope the entire Hawk team think like you do. Take us for granted, I dare ya
-
Grand Rapids Griffins / Hawks game sell out in Chicago? I'm okay with that. Glad to see our AHL team help generate some revenue.
-
Haha, nice one. I waiting for a left field report from Wings org announcing Leino sits out Filppula is in. I would rather have Filppula with his stiff wrist than Leino right now. I mean, if Flips wrist is strong enough to where no damage can happen and they are only keeping him out because his wrist is stiff, why not play him over Leino?
-
I was reading their message forum and their fans are saying a Hawks win tonight will shift the momentum. Another fan says a Hawks win tonight will be huge because it'll get into Osgood's head. Lol.
-
If Wings win (and I think we still have a chance despite playing with a $33 million-dollar roster), I doubt any Hawks' fans will show face to troll. If Wings do win it will be one of the biggest embarrassments of the year for Chicago. That said, if we lose, I'm sure this forum will be overwhelmed with trolling Hawks' fans. Go Wings Griffins!
-
I think we had injuries back then. Franzen and Helm come to mind. I think Zetterberg was nursing a nagging groin if my memory serves me correctly.
-
Imagine if we were playing with a $56 million dollar roster like everyone else, we'd be pushing 52+ points in 34 games and leading the entire league in the standings. Blackhawks should be ecstatic they're going to be playing a $33 million dollar Red Wings roster, they may feel like they *might* have a *possible*chance* to win against us. Sure do hope they take us for granted. I'm f'ing proud of this team. And congrats to Howard for being considered for team USA.
