Could the injuries cause Detroit to miss the playoffs?

If they can hang in there for a couple guys to return, it'll certainly help them down the stretch. Lets just hope nobody else on the team goes down. I doubt we'll win the presidents trophy now. Let Sharks or Hawks have it. We'll eliminate them in the first or second round with (hopefully) a full, rejuvenated and healthy line up.

    Blackhawks vs. Oilers

You're team won back-to-back against a couple of bottom feeders and already rallying for a cup parade? Nice. I'll eat crow for predicting a win for a bottom feeding team if you are sure to come back to eat crow when Chicago get's knocked out of the playoffs. 1961

    Blackhawks vs. Oilers

I'm confused. How is my prediction already wrong when Chicago and Nucks don't even play til 10pm tonight? Little pre-mature to say my prediction is wrong when the Nucks/hawks haven't even played yet...

    Blackhawks vs. Oilers

Hawks are playing good hockey but they only have 2 more points than a injured AHL/Detroit Red Wings team. That's not saying much for the Hawks since the Wings (Griffins) are toe-2-toe with the hyped Hawks. Adding Hossa is going to help the team, but I also think it's going to crush their chemistry. Too many "stars/ego" on a team isn't always a good thing... so it could be a negative impact. It's yet to be seen. So far the Hawks seem like the Sharks Jr. in the aspect of 'over-hyped' only to be complete failure when it truly matters. I don't think Hawks are cup contenders. Especially if the Red Wings get healthy by playoffs, the Wings will expose them like they did last year. edit- Oops, Hawks got an extra 2 points against the weak Oilers team tonight. Btw, Wings got 3 out of a possible 4 points in back-to-back games. Not too shabby! (I doubt Hawks beat the Nucks tomorrow... and DON'T get any back-2-back points, just my prediction) I'm yet to be impressed by the Hawks.

Zetterberg is a BEAST with a beard

I remember we had this discussion in one of the GDT at the start of the season when Z wasn't performing like the Zetterberg we all know. He didn't have a beard. Now that he has his burly beard back, he's a beast. 5 point night against the Ducks and a total of 9 points in his last 3 games. Amazing! Also note that Zetterberg is already leading in points over Crosby and Malkin. If you were allowed to choose only one player on your team, the obvious would be Zetterberg (and his beard). The guy is a machine. Not only does he Penalty Kill 4 on 5's and 3 on 5's, he's up against the best players in the league game in and game out.... and scores clutch goals all in a days work. He's the type of player that can make any club the best. Get this... the guy was picked in the 7th round 210th overall. God I love this organization... They sure know how to pick them! Teams like Pittsburgh, Chicago, Capitals and etc. have to suck for a couple of decades to get caliber players. Detroit wins cups while aquiring players like Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Franzen, Lidstrom (even though he's been a part of every cup run), and so on and on.... It's a great century to be part of HockeyTown! Next up... Tatar!

Report: Toews, Kane and Keith close to extensions

What I don't understand is people like you and I, if on probation, cannot enter in to Canada under any circumstances.

Report: Toews, Kane and Keith close to extensions

Not a good day if you're a Chicago Blackhawk fan. I wonder who they're going to push in the firesale? Hossa, Sharp, Buf, Versteeg and Bolland. The one line wonder in chi-town Good news for Red Wings fans Chicago was almost becoming a threat.

Kane plead guilty. Nothing further needs to be made public.

Chicago chants "Detroit Sucks" when Hawks play other teams?

I agree. Though I never been to Chicago, but you can't judge an entire group on one clown who hates America. This person seems to have issues.

Chicago chants "Detroit Sucks" when Hawks play other teams?

Wow! You have hate for a city? What did Detroit do to you that was so bad to feel this strong of hate for a city in the United States? Kind of Anti-American to hate and enjoy suffering. Disgusting!

Chicago chants "Detroit Sucks" when Hawks play other teams?

So Hawks fans go to hockey games to chant "Detroit Sucks" even when they're not playing Detroit for a political statement? Is that what you are trying to sell? I don't know, but I find it a bit anti-American that people in America enjoy watching a city struggle and express joy when people in the U.S. are suffering. But that's just me. I think I could handle Red Wings haters over anti-Americans. Did Chicago people find great enjoyment over the 9/11 tragedy too? Just curious.

Chicago chants "Detroit Sucks" when Hawks play other teams?

Are you sure it's not because you're a dork? Lol. All kidding aside, that is entirely new level of classless. I don't know anyone in my circle of friends that would ever humiliate or assault someone wearing an opposition jersey / sport wear. When I was working in Denver I'd go to the sports bar to watch the Wings/Avs playoffs and never had a problem. I even sat at a table (and drank beer) with Colorado natives. Good times.

Chicago chants "Detroit Sucks" when Hawks play other teams?

Jason Williams is our PP quarterback and our right hand shooter/sniper. Certainly a player we would like to have back to solidify our 2nd PP unit. Don't forget our #1 goalie has been out, our #2 dman had some time out, our top rookie defensemen had spent some time out, Helm had some time out. Zetterberg suffered from a groin injury early on. Franzen is our 38-goals, which basically washes out Hossa on your team. We can split hairs to determine who is suffering worse... but the bottom line is Red Wings are successful because of their superior depth.

TKK is probably around $16 million combined Seabrook is $3.5 Campbell $7.2 Huet $5.6 That is $32 million tied up in only 6 players. That leaves only about $24 million for the remaining 18 players? Wow!

Chicago chants "Detroit Sucks" when Hawks play other teams?

Me, I am extremely butthurt because Chicago (and other teams) chant "_____ SUCKS". BTW, butthurt is an outdated form of expression. It's funny to see people still use it. I'd bet the people who say it wear bleached jeans, high-tops and have a mullet hair style.

    Afinigenov

It's really hard to say "Holland should have done this" or "Holland should have done that". I'm sure there is more method to and reasoning behind signing J.willy over "insert.players.name here". Personally, I think Holland grooms more than players talents, I think he looks into personality, work ethics, and playing style among other things. I'm not suggesting that Afinigenov has personality issues or baggage... but I do think Holland looks deeper into things than what just appears on the surface. Red Wings pride themselves as a leadership team without the ego-issues. The locker room, from what I understand, is probably one of the most respectful environments in the league.... no "bad apples" that can spread diseases. Again, I'm not suggesting Afinigenov is a 'bad apple', but I am suggesting that Holland digs much deeper than how many goals a player scored 3-4 years ago. We can speculate all day long why Holland does this and that, but I do believe without a doubt, Holland has method behind his madness. That said, Williams looked great early on. But as time wore on (mainly after Flip went down) Willy's confidence and 'drive' flew out the window. But we could also point out other players that were sub-par during some of the stretch too... So I don't think it's fair to point a finger at one individual player when the team had bigger issues at the time. I'm not going to question Holland's decision, instead, I'm going to enjoy watching Red Wing hockey as they rally for a long winning streak.

Zetterberg is a BEAST with a beard

To be fair, Zetterberg didn't have the luxury of training camp either due to an injury... which clearly resulted in a very slow start for him. Ovechkin suffers from injuries this season too. Ovie should be the post-lockout "Gretzky" right now. But I'll take Zetterberg any day of the week. Z plays both ends of the ice with the best of them... all the while putting up big numbers. That is, imo, why Zetterberg is the world's best player in the new-age NHL! Crosby, Malkin and Ovechkin should take lessons.

    Patrick Eaves Watch Thread.

I was very excited when Holland picked up Eaves, I felt he would be the perfect success story... and so far my feelings have been warranted. I have the same feeling about Drew Miller. I think he's going to be another Success story. Where's the "Drew Miller Watch Thread"?

    Giguere wants out of Anaheim

If Chicago somehow managed to pickup Giguere... they'd be lethal. I don't don't consider Hawks a 'big' threat right now because they have Huet.

    Penguins win again.

Penguins aren't doing so well as of late, are they? I kind of figured they'd fizzle out. Sabres, Caps and Devils are the teams to watch in the east this year imo.

11/12 GDT: Canucks 1 at Red Wings 3

Zetterberg's goal was a thing of beauty. Howard was solid... Wow! I hope he keeps it up. Drew Miller had a solid game and got some SOG. He showed he is a solid PKer and Babcock has faith in him obviously, he was out there on Datsyuk's line near the end of the game to help hold the lead. That means Babcock has faith in this kid. Miller is also a guy that can put the puck in net even though he didn't break out yet, I have a feeling he will.
