You're missing the point. Who cares about the game, it's the BIG picture that we're talking about here. It's becoming out of control how incompetent this league has become. This is the National Hockey League, not pond skating. This is suppose to be a professional sport yet their is no professionalism. I get infuriated when the league makes these kind of f*** ups, it should not happen with the technology we have. I'm still pissed off over May's no-goal, and now this.

As you know Holmstrom becomes an UFA after this year and will soon be turning 37 years old (end of this month), but he's putting up good numbers and is our leading goal scorer half way through the season. He currently earns $2.2 million which is a very good price for a 20-30 goal scorer (on pace for 32 goals this season). Despite Holmer's lack of defensive play, he is a career +43 and is a consistent plus +/- player. Do you think Holland should re-sign him? If so, how much?

Janik was our best defencemen not named Lidstrom, Rafalski, or Stuart. Meech and Lebda were brutal. Whenever they got the puck they looked like they didn't know what to do with it, so they would just pass it to a Kings player so Howard could make the save. Stuart passed the puck to Meech and Meech skated in circles and then tried to pass it out of the zone (all the forwards were waiting for the pass at the red line); Meech tried passing it and a Kings player picked it off for a break away. That created one of the best chances for the Kings with Howard flopping around like Hasek while red wings players were laying down on the ice trying to shot block... that's when Bertuzzi took the phantom hooking penalty trying to clear the puck. I cannot wait for Ericsson and Kronwall to come back. I really think this team will be 100x smoother with'em in the lineup.

Howard's quote before the Kings game: "Hey guys, go ahead and take the night off. I got this one..." (with evil grin)

It's never a complete story until the writer takes a stab at the city of Detroit in the closing statement. Classy.

Awesome fight, glad to see Perry get his ass beat!

Not to Holland. He knows what he's getting from Holmer, production wise. I'm sure they'll take into account his past/career injuries and average it out. I would think anyhow.

That's because Red Wings suck. The team can't even handle a little adversity. We all know if Hawks had 9 of their top players out (I would list Hawks 9 best players on their team, but I don't know who they are besides Hossa and Tavez), they'd easily have 90 points in 44 games. That's how good they are! Chicago should start planning for the cup parade now so it's all ready for June. Edit: Chicago won tonight? Marc Savard didn't play, did he? I guess these guys didn't play either. Mark Stuart Patrice Bergeron Andrew Ference Milan Lucic Byron Bitz Boy, can Chicago really stomp an injury riddled team or what. Hawks are the bestestesss to ever lace em up! Wouldn't it be kinda funny if Chicago gets the injury bug (top 9 players out 2-4 months each) just a week before playoffs begin. Lol. That would be EPIC and bad karma for Hawks trolling and bragging out good their team is against other injured teams. Oh, that would be too funny I believe in Karma, you should too.

Lol. Only on LGWs would people ***** after a HUGE much needed win, while blanking any points from the opposition team. Hilarious!

Miserable. Just got home from eating all you can eat chinese and read that Holmer is out 3-4 weeks, which is more likely to be 6-8 weeks.

Looks like it's from youtube.

You're welcome to use the "Report" button under my avatar. And if that doesn't get me banned, there is a "Ignore" feature on LetsGoWings that you are welcome to use. I'm sorry a post made January 3rd bothers you so much. Ignore me if you don't like the fact that I'm not sold on (or suck off) your team. Lol. I didn't realize this was the 'official' BLACKHAWKS thread. Really?

Does anyone remember how Leino looked with Filppula and Williams earlier in the season? Since the injuries, Leino couldn't handle the pressure. What a worthless rookie! Everyone know's any and all rookies should be the savior of the team when a majority of our top players are out. Leino is a bum for not proving he is the rookie of the year on a depleted Red Wings team.

Holland needs to keep Drew Miller. What he does with May, Lebda, Meech, Janik, I don't care... but Drew Miller should stay!

When does Ritola have to play in the NHL full time before lose him? Is this his last year in GR or does he have 1 more to go?

I could have sworn the title had the word "Blues" in it. Who did the Blues play last night? Why start a new thread to talk about the Blues and Sharks, and my ultimate observation of the game which resulted in my impression of the Sharks, since they (Heatley) won the game? Why are you here demanding Wings' fans to start a new thread on a Red Wings forum, and telling people what they can and cannot talk about in this Blues thread? Why do you post in our GDT when we play Blackhawks? Why don't Blackhawks have their own fan forum? Why do you cry so gawdamn much? You can start a message forum on the internet for about $20 bucks.. do you need money? Maybe you can get donations from other BH fans to start a Blackhawk message forum...

I think the point is to a lot of peoples' argument is why play Osgood to get "in groove" for the playoffs if Wings are not going to make the playoffs. So I think the first goal of the season is to make the playoffs then deal with the post season after we make it. It's a double edge sword for Babs. If he plays Howie, he's a bad coach because he's not allowing Osgood to get in groove. However, if he plays Osgood and Ozzy can't win games like red-hot howie, then Babcock is a bad coach for not playing the hot-hand. Then I'm sure all the pro-Osgood members here will say it's Babcock's fault for not making the playoffs... I say we should deal with the regular season now and worry about the post season if we make it. Play Howie

So let me get this straight, nobody is allowed to talk about any other team on a Red Wings Hockey discussion forum (in the general discussion area, no less), unless it is to praise the Blackhawks (a team that I don't see as a true contender).... because it hurts blackhawks fan's (your) feelings. You come to a Red Wings Hockey message forum and demand everyone to stroke blackhawk fan's ego because (you) think you have the worldzzz bestestestestss team to ever lace'em up? You must be pretty ignorant to think regular season is the same as post-season. Post-season is when hockey really starts, right now is just exhibition. Playoffs is when the men separate from the boys. Also Chicago is 2-1 against Detroit, that doesn't mean Chicago is a the better team than Red Wings, in fact, it's the complete opposite. Trust me, you do not want to face a healthy Red Wings early in the playoffs, they'll prove Blackhawks are EPIC FAIL. I watched the Sharks and Hawks game. Sharks came off back to back games and had to fly to Chicago to play that night. They beat Chicago in true fashion and Huet let in like 4 goals on 9 shots. Your coach was out matched and Sharks won. Stop you goddamn crying. Sharks are a better playoff team, deal with it. Nabokov > Huet (by a long shot) Sharks 1st line > Haws 1st line Sharks D / Hawks D (I might give the edge to the Hawks, but Sharks have experience and leadership in Rob Blake) McLellan > Quenneville (especially if Hawks play Wings in the post season - Wings have Q's number) Get some goaltending, a little more experience, a better brass and a new head coach and get back to me... Oh, by then it'll be too late because your team is going to need to shed A LOT of salary next year to make up your brass's f#ckups. 1961

I disagree, but carry on.

Blues at Sharks tonight. Sharks with a gutsy comeback and Heatley scored on the break-away in OT (that guy is amazing). Wow, are those Sharks unstoppable or what! They have all the elements that other teams don't have and virtually have the best chance in the West to win the cup this year (if Detroit doesn't get injured players back and pull it back together in time). *Goaltending *Best offense in the entire NHL (best top-line in the NHL) *Good D *Solid coaching staff As much as it hurts me to say this, I've also been very impressed with the Kings this year. West coast is very solid this year. Needless to say, Blues are such a disappointment, they can't even help the Wings out by beating the Sharks (not that they'd ever have a chance anyhow) Lol.
-
I wonder if they should give Osgood a few games to help him get into his groove.
-
Ritola reminds me of a more physical Filppula 2.0.

Exaggerate much?

I hope Holmer stays here for a couple more years. I can't imagine the Red Wings team without a Holmer pissing off goaltenders and defensemen.
