Wow, people getting pissy on these boards lately. I'm gonna say this: driving drunk isn't simply a lesson you learn and move on. You shouldn't have to learn a lesson by putting people in danger. I never learned not to drink and drive through screwing up and doing it. They preach this stuff to kids from an elementary school age and if you still do it you are dumb as f*** and it shows you have little foresight for the safety of others. This makes it seem as though the expense and inconvenience of calling a cab was not worth the risk of people's lives he put in danger. If all "dumbass kids" did this we would be in huge trouble. Not to mention he then provided false information to the authorities...

Damnit Fil! Oh well, we have so many forwards signed for this season that I think we will be okay for a month if the season starts soon.

There is no excuse for this. He knows better. It suck because he is a wings player and I want to defend him, but in this case I really can't. Its one thing to put yourself in danger while abusing substances (thats more of a personal choice) but drunk driving puts anyone and everyone on the streets around you in danger. We are all quick to rip on Pat Kane for getting too drunk with high school friends, this is a lot worse. This is the beginning of Riley's career, lets hope that this isn't a sign of things to come...

Fehr insists that they discuss non-core issues and find agreements. this is a waste if they can't form agreement over bigger issues. these peripheral issues can be negotiated on as part of the bigger issue as a give and take. Talk is cheap unless they work on the fundamental issue at hand.

i dont see why its 100% up to the NHLPA to come up with the next proposal. the nhl made it clear that all past offers were off the table so the ball isn't in anyones court really.

id say the nhl is worse off...

its funny how in the nfl you can freely rip on replacement refs in the media all you want if you are a player or coach or whatever, but if you question the integrity of the nhl or reffing in any way you get a massive fine in the nhl...

this is like telling somebody you would rather pie yourself in the face than let them do it. We will cancel it before they use it against us? first off, I cannot see how 30 owners would support this, also consider that 28 teams won't participate. i think the league anticipates the players waiting until the winter classic is close to make a deal and they want it to happen sooner so they are moving up the date. they are un-cleverly disguising it as "taking away leverage."

For some reason I can't kick this feeling that kindl could be a 4/5 dman if we gave him the chance. he has the size and skill. I watched almost every game last season and every game he played in and I think there is something there...

Just wondering what you guys think as to where our current players would play in the event of a lockout. Would it be the same destinations as last time? What would you like to see?

This would never happen, but what do you think would happen if the players agreed to the nhl's latest offer but included that Gary Bettman would have to be replaced as commissioner? Would the owners bite, and what would Bettman do, if anything to save his job?

Just for some light fun with the lockout looming. Hopefully this hasn't been done recently: If you could reset the career or one wings player and have them back in their youth who would it be? Would it be a young Lidstrom to shore up the D for another 20 years or would it be Stevie Y to bring that talent and leadership? For me I'd say Lidstrom only because of the situation our D is in right now, but I keep wanting to say Stevie anyways...

Exactly my thought. In fact I bet he doesn't know a large number of the nuances in hockey, like he wouldn't know how to suit up properly to play. When he gets booed that much at every event (draft, cup presentations, etc.) its pretty clear he isn't a likeable face for the nhl. So what if the nhl grew with him in charge? its preposterous to think that it couldn't grow under someone likeable as well.

considering a large majority of nhl players are canadian, you have to account for that when you do these sorts of comparisons. A lot of the people we consider divers are usually players who aren't soft in other aspects of their game and thus its obvious when they dive. Brown is very capable of physical domination so its pretty obvs to see him diving out there. Crosby is the "chosen one" and is impossible to bump off the puck so its pretty annoying to see him flop.

I'd like the following kids up for at least one full season with Z and Dats before they go: Jurco, Jarnkrok, Nyquist, Pulks. These kids are the future of our top 6 with many others certainly knocking on the door.
