Agreed. How is it that Q, Sammy, and Cleary escape injuries?? I guess Sammy doesn't play much but Cleary and Q go every night and are never out with injuries this season. The only way babs will see how terribad they are is for them to be out of the lineup with injury and a young kid steps in and elevates play.

I'd be fine with that - as long as he doesn't re-sign bert, cleary, sammy, quincey... I would take Alfie back in a second though.

It would be a 1st + B level propect. Hamilton is going nowhere. Unlikely he is traded due to re-location as stated.

I think they are clearly attention seeking. No reason to dress like that in that setting unless they were hoping to go up on the big screen and have Ovi check them out or something. The fact that they are wearing head gear for warmth makes it ironic lol.

Honestly this felt like a completely different team tonight. Despite missing some HUGE pieces out there we were steady and in control with Howie really settling in. This is what I expect from a healthy roster but it is great to see them look confident out there for once. Lets hope this continues with the cameras off!

I saw him make some really nice outlet passes - one was really nice off the boards cross ice. He also did well retreating behind the net and making the dump pass to his partner on a few occasions I saw. If he can be a steady bottom pairing guy for the future I'll be happy - he has potential to be more but I would be good with 5/6 considering Sproul, Ouellet, Backman are also in the pipeline with Smith, Dekeyser being young ones too.

Meh, even without Helm tonight the boys looked like they were over worrying about injuries and just played. They can't wait around psychologically for everyone to get healthy because it ain't going to happen in all likelihood. If everyone just plays their best we get results like tonight (and Howie chipped in a lot).

Agreed. Z can make Drew Miller look like a top 6 forward at times. I think Z adjusts his style more to fit his linemates. So if he is paired with grinders he cycles deep and grinds it out whereas when he plays with Dats he plays much more cerebral out there. He can switch it on and off every shift. Datsyuk pretty much plays the same no matter what is line mates are. At least this is what I see. Its open to interpretation.

We will see if this play translates to NHL ice. It is a much different game out there and he will have less time on the puck playing on smaller ice and among men. He is fairly small in stature. He will have to prove it to me in the NHL before I call him a sure thing.

How did Marchenko look tonight? I missed most of the action but from what I saw he looked pretty steady out there. He was holding back offensively from what I saw (to be expected first game).

On regulation ice i see this team doing much better. Too bad they wont get that chance together. It was annoying that the class was so low to me.

I agree they earned it with some help from Canada and a bit of puck luck from the boards. And they shut the game down for 20min. I wasnt implying they didnt deserve it.

Nice job refs. Canada shouldnt have put themselves in these situations though. Agreed. These refs have no clue. People will do and say anything to win.

Finland is investing 100% of energy in the D zone to win puck battles, block shots, and clear the zone and its working. Canada must work much harder to even make a dent.

Pouliot and Dumba have had poor games by their standards and it really shows. We cant give up the puck on the point on the pp like we have been. Pouliot has been beat time and again tonight. Seems like in international play the refs like to let the first roughing/incident go and then take the retaliator which is bad for a Canada team that likes to stick up for itself. They have missed loads of hooks/trips throughout the tourny but always go overboard on roughing etc. which must be policy. True and he almost got another 10 i guess. That puts even more hate on the refs i guess. It was hardly a headshot to start with considering the kid ducked like child.

Problem is: drouin is a huge part of the pp and he is stupidly sitting on his ass for running his mouth.

Sutter needs to pull back on the boys a bit here and calm them the f*** down.

These refs have been so soft. You cant duck like that and draw a call. Drouin is stupid for arguing to the point of a 10min. The first period the refs let the fins get away with loads. Also can we get some regulation glass height?! Jesus.
