forgetting xavier and backman as d prospects. they go along with smith, lashoff, and sproul as guys who will likely pan out very well. If you add big E and Kronner to that list you have too many dmen. I think at this point we should try to either: a) trade talented prospects for current talent under 30years old b) sign some stop gaps on short deals and let our talent develop for a couple years Option b means we won't be competing for another 2-3 years but we will likely be solid for the future. Option a means we get guaranteed talent for likely overpayment and can compete earlier but we run into having no nhl ready talent in the pipe for another 5 years.

Its called dumb luck. There was no reason to expect Big E's resurgence. Unless holland legit has a crystal ball then there is no way he could have predicted this.

I think the Joe could have a major overhaul of the seating and the washrooms a bit and it would be just fine. Replace all the seats with more comfortable ones with cup holders and everyone would be sound as a pound. They already did some work on the washrooms. Then upgrade the technology and id be happy for 10-20 more years.

Never liked Perron. I love standing up for yourself - but putting yourself in the dressing room isn't the way to do it. He should have challenged him to a fight and made Perron look like a puss for turning him down, then gone on the PP and scored a goal.

Tatar worked hard out there, drew a penalty, cycled decently. IMO he is a huge upgrade on Hudler because he has puck winning skills rather than needing more hard working players to give him the puck. Kid needs more than 1 game to show he is more than huds.

regardless of the hair dying, the man has been a great owner. we are lucky to have the opportunity to sign anyone each year and spend right to the cap without even flinching. many teams can't do that, and the fans must be frustrated. holland's ability to sign good talent with illitch money has been another story.

Z has played with more heart than anyone in the league at this point. So yeah, we have heart, its just not in everyone. I think Gus has sat long enough and could have healed a torn groin by now. White was back asap. Smith can't do much about his thing. Sammy could probably be back realistically (same boat as Gus). Helm seems to actually have a scary thing going on with his back. But ya, I've been frustrated too. Illitch should spring for new equipment for the team that fully protects them rather than allowing full range of motion - lol.

I think we need to re-assess when helm, smith get back. I want a trade if it makes sense, but I wouldn't overpay until we see these guys in action in a healthy lineup.

It was okay to be sentimental when you had the future of the team cemented in Z, Dats, Lids, but now we can't afford to let our young talent waste away to allow aging vets to retire in peace in the Red Wings country club locker room. holland needs to start seeing this.

So Jarnkrok has to wait for Z or Dats or Fil to move on and come in as a top 6 center or nothing? People say he will pull a Zetterberg and start right up with the big club when he comes over.

Bump. Wanted to see what you guys think at this point in the season about Jarnkrok for next season? He has: GP45 G11 A24 P35 in the SEL. Listed on eliteprospects as 6'0" and 176lbs. I think if he can put on 15 pounds he could be ready for the big show next season as our third line centre.

I think everyone is with you on this one. Looking back at every GDT you see Cleary getting trashed because he just can't cut it anymore physically and he doesn't have the size to go on like Bert. He needs to go now, we can't afford to be sentimental on this one.
