Well he was in charge of the PP, so changes coming there...thank god...

Can the NHL just merge the Jackets & Islanders into one team and do the same with Howson & Snow? The New Columbus Jackanders, GMed by Garth Snowson. Could they then be slightly better than either team separately or would they just suck twice as bad?

Being older than 25, he is not subject to an ELC. Haven't seen any rumors on contract terms but my best guess would be a 1 or 2 years at no more than $1-1.5m.

Take a look at the cap situation in Edmonton as an example. Cap hits of $3.775 & $3.75 for RJH & Hall respectively. Schultz, given the year he was drafted, could come in no higher than a $3.8125m cap hit.

And it wasn't a slap to the Wing organization when Sergei left for Anaheim the way he did? He could have gone down of one of the greatest Red Wings of all time & had his number put in the rafters, but it was his choice not to. There are very few numbers not in rotation for the Wings & #91 doesn't deserve to be one of them imo. Anyway, that's years down the road for Frk depending on whether he ever makes the big club. I would hope the debate on wearing #91 hits a little closer than that when Parise signs & wants to wear it.

Jordan Staal traded to Carolina, signs 10-yr, $60m extension

Until Glen Sather trades his entire roster over so they can all play with Marc in NY. -
Top Swiss-leaguer Brunner to sign with Wings, Babcock has big plans

Blue, blue, blue... You've done enough of these, it's like you live on capgeek, that it should be instinctual by now that all entry level contracts are capped. Have to give you a finger wag on the slip up. Come on blue, you're better than that!- 139 replies

1. Hot BBQ 2. Wild 3. Spicy Garlic 4. Asian Zing 5. Hot Of the current Red Wings though, a combination of Hank, Pavs, Kronner, Helm, & Howie.

That is unless they're one of those vaunted Minnesota Wild prospects. They would be insane to leave that organ-i-zation with all of the world class young talent they have ready to hit the bigs, right? Right?

Those rank up there with Progressive adds as some of the worst ever imo, especially the Kane one. I don't think they got him drunk enough on his.

Moen is expected to reach a deal to say in Montreal soon. From Renaud Lavoie of RDS: https://twitter.com/...579701022523394 And Gausted basically did jack for Nashville in the playoffs other then win faceoffs. If some other team wants to match the $3m a year he wants, more power to 'em.

Have to wonder if this is clearing the way for Bobby Ryan to Philly & Justin Schultz to Toronto.
-
They already got Staal's replacement as their 3rd line center in Brandon Sutter. Staal ultimately was over qualified to be stuck in the 3rd line imo & Sutter will be a serviceable replacement. IF they do get Parise, Shero just pulled a major upgrade as he'll have another legitimate, top-line winger to pair with either Cindy or Geno.

Wonder if that means Nyquist would end up in GR again given he isn't out of options yet & doesn't have to go through waivers.- 139 replies

To me, the most intriguing pick is Athanasiou given what's been said of the kid's speed & skill. Discipline & hard work can be taught, natural speed & skill can't. If there's a player the Wings drafted this year that will be known as the steal of his draft class, I think he could be it. Teams that are below the current salary floor. From all reports, it appears there are a few teams in that spot that are interested.

Because while he can negotiate with teams right now, he can't officially sign until July 1st.- 139 replies

I'm sure he learned from the Fabian Brunnstrom ordeal & wants to earn his way onto an NHL roster instead of being handed a spot immediately, which he easily could have done signing just about anywhere else. For Kenny's next step: Now paging Justin Schultz. Paging Justin Schultz. Please pick up the nearest red courtesy telephone...- 139 replies

Looks like it's down to 3 teams & the Wings might lead the pack if Kenny hasn't locked him up already: http://www.blick.ch/sport/eishockey/landet-brunner-in-detroit-id1934770.html?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter

They probably did. The 7 second censor at NBCSN wasn't quick enough to get it live though.
-
This whole Jagr business is feeling very Brett Farve-esque. I hope Kenny stays far away from him. Don't hold me to this, but I'm leaning towards being in favor of keeping Hudler over having Jagr anywhere near the team.
-
If the owners are thinking about locking anyone out next season, it should be Nickelhack.
-
I expect that Will Arnett will soon be suspended from appearing in next year's awards show.

The highlight of the show for me, and the only one for that matter, was Lundqvist dropping an f-bomb under his breath while excepting the Vezina. Goes to prove there's still only one perfect Swede in the world. Other than that, the show was absolute cheese, but it always is.
