Confirmed now that Lid's "bone bruise" on his ankle was actually a hairline fracture... Just goes to prove that he wasn't the perfect human. He was superhuman.
-
I say bring Homer back for one more year, give him the C, & watch hilarity ensue as refs across the NHL have to translate his Swenglish.

1. Zetterberg 2. Datysuk 3. Kronwall 4. 20. Franzen Or maybe... 1. Zetterberg 2. Datysuk 3. Kronwall 20. Al Sobotka 4. 21. Franzen

I believe he was picked to wear the "A" a number of times in pre-season action, so it's not too far fetched. And as far as I'm concerned, if Nick vouches for a guy, that's good enough for me.
-
Personally, I think Nick is doing well enough speaking for himself.
-
Parise-Weber-Suter hands down. Just wonder if the urgency of replacing Nick would be the trigger for Kenny to finally float an offer sheet out to an RFA.

Parity exists in standings but not with club profits according to Forbes: http://www.forbes.com/sites/maurybrown/2012/05/30/lack-of-economic-parity-could-kill-nhl/

It's been obvious for years that Z is the guy. The question is whether they rotate Parise and/or Suter in as an A if they sign.
-
If it is retirement, I have a feeling most of the Ilitch family will be there actually as will a whole list of current & former teammates.
-
Hard to not think when the Homer presser is going to be now too
-
Can't see that being the case. I'm sure the last thing Nick would want is a season long farewell tour.
-
Hopefully the first thing out of Kenny's mouth after Nick speaks is that he's traded for Suter's rights from Nashville & is pleased to announce a signing. Too much to ask?
-
That's what he's said all along right? Either way, I think it will be time to say the hell with worksite dress codes & pull on the #5 sweater tomorrow.

I know, right? I'm just waiting for this place's eventual turn into letsgowild.com Still think Schultz would be a good pick-up but even if Lids retires, we don't get Suter, & Stewie leaves for Cali, I still don't see him in the lineup for the Wings right away. If NHL ice time is going to be the key to his signing, don't think it will be Detroit.

How do we view it? Those of us in the US will view it on the networks of NBC I think it just goes to prove that once you make the postseason in the NHL these days, anything can happen with the parity where it's at.
-
Yeah, that's exactly why I wouldn't want an Evgeni Malkin or Zdeno Chara on the team. Clearly they're just coasting now that they've won a Cup. Give me a whole team of Phil Kessel's instead. I'm sure he's hungry for a Cup...or maybe a cheeseburger. So no, Parise winning a Cup this year would have absolutely zero chance of reducing my interest in the Wings signing him. If anything, wouldn't grabbing a team captain of a Stanley Cup winning team who is entering the prime of his career raise your interest level? No? Really?
-
That has to do with the fact that Suter is still the property of the Nashville Predators until 7/1 or if/when they trade his negotiation rights before then. If Holland were to come out now & say that he's pursuing any pending free agent by name prior to July 1st, the NHL considers that tampering. Teams have been fined and/or had draft picks taken away for that in the past.
-
If it ends up being the Rangers in the east, the Quick/Lundqvist match-up has the chance of being epic.
-
Whoa, hang on there...Edmonton? That's like saying Parise and/or Suter could wind up in the KHL next year.
-
As much as I would prefer no corporate naming rights on a new arena, sadly it's inevitable. Too bad they couldn't go with something like the New Olympia Arena.
-
All depends on the team's financial stability I think. The long playoff run will probably help, but at one point they were on track to lose around $20 million this season. Plus the owner might be forced to sell the team next season if they can't lock in financing to cover their $80m in debt they defaulted on. If Parise really wants long-term stability & a chance at The Cup every year, New Jersey doesn't sound like the place to me.
-
I think you're underestimating a bit. You would be able to afford the Wings, Leafs, or Rangers by now.
-
So what happens when Holland's pick-ups are Brunner & Justin Schultz instead of Parise & Suter? Human sacrifice, dogs & cats living together...mass hysteria?
-
I wonder if the NHLPA pushes for raising the salary floor for teams too.
