Why are you talking about the past. I am talking about right now, and going forward. The Toews and Kane contracts are not good for Chicago, especially the Toews contract. And Toews most definitely is not a top 3 center lol.

I never said they were slowing down until now, simply because there cap hits on those contracts are now kicking in. It will handicap that team for the future.

If Stamkos wants 11+ million are people still ok with that? I know I'm not, he's not the same player he was before his leg injury and won't be a 50 goal scorer again. I look at the Toews and Kane contracts and what that is going to do to that team and want nothing to do with that. Our younger guys will need raises and might become very good players looking for 6-7 million dollar deals which could hinder us signing our young guys in 2-3 years. Only way I want Stamkos is if he is willing to sign at 9 million. We need defense more then anything right now, year after year it's the same issue.

I don't see how anyone can bring up last year and justify it holding any weight. The entire team under performed offensively last year. He is still very good defensively, let's see how he does before writing this deal off...
