Yea agreed, 95% of the time players will go to where ever pays the most but all I'm saying is its possible... Mostly wishful thinking but possible -

True, we don't overpay but the player could decide to take a little less money and go to a team that they have a better chance at a cup. Not saying it'll happen or it happens a lot but it's possible.. Depends on the player really. -
I would absolutely hate to get ott. as far as selanne goes, I don't think it would be worth trading anything for him as prices would be too high IMO. but if he does decide on another season and wants to win a cup before he retires, I wouldn't be surprised if we signed him for a year next off season. that I would be all for.

97.1 never knows what they're talking about..
-
Personally I think it's because the capitals have changed their style in the past couple years. They used to just try to score as many goals as possible and win high scoring games. but now they're trying to shut down other teams when theyre up and trying to win games that are close and low scoring. Their old style just complimented Ovis playing style perfectly. And as mentioned before, the league has adapted for sure. Ovi just needs to change and adapt to the way things are now.. In no way is he past his prime whatsoever.
-
Damn yea if Columbus could pull that off they'll make that trade in a heartbeat.. Obviously they're going to try to get as much as they can but that could be the core to rebuild their roster for sure. Especially if the prospect pans out well.
-
Huder is on the red wings. red wings are a great team. Nash on the other hand is on columbus. columbus is pretty awful. Not taking anything away from hudler, I like him too and hope he resigns here. Huds and Nash just aren't really comparable..
-
don't know how solid this is but i heard rumors of philly talking to the jackets for Nash. possibly something like Van Riemsdyk, another player, and Bobrovsky.
-
Nash would cost way too much.. Let's get real. He'll go somewhere that can give up a decent goalie and more or he'll stay put
-
exactly. I could however see us getting a decent pickup in hemsky or ruutu or someone because we have much more cap space than usual but under the radar trades/signings that turn out to be great deals are more kenny's style. Either way, with whatever happens at the deadline, we have a great chance at the cup. no doubt

Not sure if this was posted elsewhere or not but lets hope it's wrong.... http://aol.sportingnews.com/nhl/story/2012-02-04/jimmy-howard-injury-jimmy-howard-finger-red-wings-ty-conklin Also hopefully Joey Mac keeps up the solid play. Sure he hasn't been stellar but he's made some great saves and kept us in both games for the most part. Edit: this is a link a friend just texted to me..
-
I could totally see selanne coming here to try to win a cup before he retires. but not through trade. if anything he'll sign in the off season.. and im sure kenny would take him no problem.
-
Bobby Ryan!! *fingers crossed* yeahh i know its a long shot but that would be amazing. and its pretty safe to say the ducks aren't making the playoffs so they might be interested in trading away some players. mostly just wishful thinking but you never know i suppose.
-
agreed. trading away jurco (esspecially this early) would be dumb and it won't happen. the kid as a bright future, guarantee it. to be honest, I'm a little surprised no one took him before we had the chance. although there was a lot of talent in the draft..
-
" Datsyuk on wanting to play on the same line as Evgeni Malkin, “Of course I want to play with him. That way we can speak Russian and nobody can understand us.” " .... And he's got jokes! Haha
-
If we got bobby Ryan for 2 prospects and a pick that would be incredible.. I'm sure they're looking into as much as they feel is necessary. I'd love to get him.
-
How legit is this? It could be cool getting subban.. And the possible trades being talked about.. Ex. Something with Ericsson and a prospect/younger forward involved might make Montreal consider it.. If anything it's interesting, I wouldn't be upset if we got subban
-
I would love to see parise at the trade deadline.. if we can get him for a reasonable price, we'd win the cup no doubt. (not saying that hes the piece we need, i think we'll win if we don't do anything) but then lids could retire on top (if hes trying to retire after this season.) then that would free up space to try and get another big name d man and if we did we could legitimately win back to back cups. also, i hope we can trade for nabby cheap. nabokov would be a great 2nd goalie.. and howard could use a little rest when the playoff push comes.
-
jurcos probly my favorite prospect.. so this is good news i'm excited to see how he progresses in the near future
-
i'd take howard over price any day.
-
agreed. the only "dream team" worthy line would be lids and weber... (if i had to make my own dream team anyway)
-
agreed. mursak will be his old self sooner or later. the key is definitely making sure he's 100% before he plays. and with the amount of depth the wings have, this will obviously be no problem.... I look forward to mursak's play in the future.
-
agreed. there will be a lot of rivalry type first and second round matchups and it'll hype up the playoffs more..
