I wish kessel were ever on a team I liked.... drafted by Boston, traded to Toronto, then to Pittsburgh. He’s going to end his career in Chicago, guaranteed.

Those similarities are pretty crazy. It would be amazing if both could turn into top 6 power forwards, retrieving pucks in the corners/behind the net for their lines, while also chipping in with goals. They both seem like they're tough to play against/won't give opponents much time to set up a breakout, and I love having players like that. If even one of them ends up being a legit top 6 power forward, I'll call that a success. Bertuzzi seems like he's improving faster that I expected.. hope he keeps that up.

Smith is going to be a fun one to watch continue to develop. Glad to hear he’s doing well. Hopefully he develops into a productive power forward at the NHL level.

Enticing Karlsson to stay will be as simple as paying him what he deserves.. and if they don’t want to do that, there’s no way they’re also adding JT. So far it sounds like the sharks and flyers will both make a big push for Tavares. New Jersey’s GM was recently approved to spend to the cap.. him and Hall would be a deadly combo. I’m sure plenty others will join in as well.. sorry, I’m getting too off track. But he’ll get to pick his next team out of a pretty decent chunk of the league. I highly doubt an internal budget team like Ottawa is one of them though. I don’t think whoever Ottawa takes will impact Karlsson at all. But Karlsson leaving, seems like it would almost guarantee they take a defenseman in the first imo.

Sulak and Hronek are joining Czech Republic at worlds. Should be some good experience for them.

Damn, i was really hoping to see Ras get a couple AHL games too. Or at the very least a couple weeks of AHL practice. Ah well, more time to bulk up this summer I guess.

Would you do that if that’s what Tampa wanted? I’d be pretty on the fence, I think. I agree with your prospect assessment. Pretty excited to see where Cholowski and Rasmussen are come preseason.

Has Hughes going right before us to the Coyotes, and us taking Bouchard. Boqvist at 10 to the Oilers. I haven’t seen enough of Dobson personally so I’m not sure how i feel about him. Boqvist, Bouchard, & Hughes are my top 3 at #6 and I keep shuffling around which of them I like most; I’d be happy with any of them. Also, I don’t think Hughes being at Michigan gives him any sort of edge other than he was easier to watch play for scouts (not like that really matters as much these days). Being at Michigan doesn’t boost his likelyhood to end up being picked by Detroit, but his skating ability does. I’m excited to see how he does at worlds.

Yeah we’d definitely have to add to it. I was just saying maybe someone they really like starting to fall could get talks started. Also factoring into my thought is that they don’t have a first round pick this year. It was traded to NYR in the McDonagh trade. How much more do you guys think it would take? I agree it’d probably be more than I’d be comfortable with in the end too but I like talking about this kind of stuff.

Wonder if someone the Lightning like starts falling toward us at the vegas pick if they’d trade Foote for it? Seems like it probably wouldn’t be enough if he’s really doing as well as it sounds, but could be a starting point at least?

Last year they revealed the teams in order from 15th pick to 1st on a televised draft lottery show type thing. Which was funny/upsetting to watch the reactions when they didn’t announce Philly in their season ending spot in the standings

Wonder how high we could move up in the first if we traded two of 29, 33, and 36 (maybe add in 81). If someone we really like starts sliding, it seems like something we’d at least have to consider.

I hope our eventual return to the playoffs comes with a series win over Tampa for sure. They’re who I’d most like the beat in the playoffs. But, on a game to game basis, I really enjoy beating the Leafs and Hawks the most I think.
