Whether this trade is good or bad pretty much just depends on how Larsson pans out.

An offer sheet on kucherov does sound like a decent idea if we can be sure 1. He'll sign one at all, 2. We have the necessary draft picks, & 3. We can guarantee Tampa can't match. Him and Larkin on the same line for the foreseeable future would be awesome. Kucherov-Larkin-Abby/physical UFA I like the look of that line a lot.

There have been reports that staal wouldn't mind a short term contract. Which is pretty much the only reason I suggested him over Nielsen. Not sure what he'd cost.. But there will certainly be less interested teams than for Nielsen so probably less than him. I'm still not sure if it's worth it but it seems like a move the wings would make.. I voted Ladd because he'll chip in offensively and provide some physical play while he's at it. Also, combine his disappointing playoff with the stronger free agent market and he should end up signing cheaper than most of that list.

I feel like I'd prefer staal as a center backup plan for stamkos over Nielsen.. Not that I'm really fond of staal or anything but I heard he's not expecting a long term deal; as long as he gets a top 6 center spot. Staal for a year or two sounds better than 5+ years of Nielsen to me.. Maybe I'm wrong in thinking that; I haven't watched much of the islanders but he might even be a cheaper cap hit than Nielsen too. Thoughts?

i agree he could help us be tougher to play against.. which would be nice. I just don't like the guy.... He has been slowly improving on LA as far as I could tell though so maybe he could change my mind.

Hmm good to know, thanks. Heard term was the reason his deal with LA fell through.. With the Kings only wanting to go 4 years and that its less about the cap hit than it is term. Maybe he can be had for a cheap cap hit but I see his game declining after a few years.

Agree on Boedker.. Eriksson and Backes interest me on the right deal. I have a bad feeling whoever signs Okposo will be disappointed.. A lot of his success may be due to Tavares. But maybe I'm wrong; I haven't watched a lot of the isles

Dreger: RedWings keenly interested in Stamkos. If they don't land, probably look at Eriksson, or Boedker, or Okposo, or maybe Backes.
