I could be wrong here but, the way I interpreted that lebrun tweet I posted a few posts or so ago, the way he says "first and second year pros would be exempt" makes it sound like players coming off of year one or two in a pro league at the time of the expansion draft would be exempt from being drafted to an expansion team.I'm sure we'll get more clarification sometime soon but if that's the case, Russo would be fine. I'm not sure Vegas would draft him anyway.. I guess it depends on how his next season goes.

If the expansion draft is next summer, they can play and not have to be protected. Hopefully it is, because then Larkin wouldn't have to be protected.. Although Mantha and Athanasaiou would have to be.

Who trained dubnyk a few years back? Any chance we could get them here? Probably not but I feel like he went from a nobody backup to a solid starter pretty quickly?

Sean Day sounds like someone I'd be really happy for us to draft. I was thinking that even before the story (thanks for that btw). After reading that story.. It'd be really cool if we could get him and Max Jones together. They sound like they'd help each other continue to develop too.

I agree with your point on Michigan born players but I felt the need to point it out due to management. They seem to like having them.. Could be a coincidence. But I agree, it shouldn't make a difference in why we go after them.

Agreed. I read today that the NHL and NHLPA agreed on an expansion draft format and what to do about NTC/NMC but they didn't state what the agreement was.. But I remember something about the nhlpa wanting one or both of the clauses protected and in which case the jets may have too many to protect Trouba or something along those lines Yeah a looming expansion draft should do wonders for trades and speculation. I'm pretty excited to see how free agency/the draft unfolds across the league this year and next

Trouba = both of these things. He's 22. Plus he's good size, a Michigan boy, and right handed in addition to his good play and high ceiling. He's a no brainer trade target imo
