I have that feeling too. But honestly, I'd rather them than Toronto But they're a close second. It'd be kind of cool to see Matthews play in Arizona with all their young guys.

If the Sabres won the lottery and got Matthews then signed stamkos, they could be a goalie and a top two d man away from being a playoff team. Maybe closer; I don't know how their prospect pool looks. Probably good?

Beating philly would be ideal, yeah. But those scenarios are also if Boston wins against Ottawa. There's still a chance we make it losing to both philly and Boston but obviously we'd much rather be in control and a reg/OT win tonight would make us very much in control of our playoff hopes no matter what happens in Boston.

No doubt those two moves would make us contenders.. I'm high on Trouba too. If we only added him, it'd be a great off season. What did you trade for him in this scenario? Howard, Nyq, maybe a pick and/or prospect? Or would Howard be a separate deal?

So you're saying stamkos is coming here?! kidding of course. Great post though. I for one think he'll re-sign in Tampa (I probably would if I were him) but it'd make the off season a lot more interesting to at least see him test free agency first.

Agree 100%. We really should be playing playoff caliber hockey already.. You want to hit the ground running right when the puck drops game one. I'd much rather stumble in than miss obviously, but both options are less than ideal.. We need to turn it around and fast.
