Maybe, like me, they forgot to change the clock and showed up an hour late.

Sounds like it's been a lacklustre game by the Wings, but I just turned it on 5 minutes ago and this looks like a nice push.

    Pulkkinen sent back to GR

If Helm and Mule were back, I think Babcock would run: Helm - Datsyuk - Tatar Abdelkader - Zetterberg - Cole Franzen - Sheahan - Nyquist Miller - Glendening - Weiss

Red Wings acquire Marek Zidlicky from NJ for Cond. 2016 3rd Round Pick

Well there's 0% chance he'll be the #7. That would make no sense - he's developing he needs to play. Our #7 spot is for under-performing players (Ian White, Kindl,...) or extras (Lashoff). Prospects with potential either get opportunity in the lineup due to injuries or develop their game in GR. He may be an extra player for the playoffs, but that's different. If you're basing your opinion on what Holand and Babcock say, the quote "We’re going to make sure he’s playing.” - no matter how you read it - negates him sitting in the stands as a #7. As for whether he'd be in the lineup, He would have to beat out Kindl and Smith. Kindl would have to be waived in either situation. Smith has played well this year and recently (though some people have chosen him as the resident whipping boy). You're not going to diss an established player on your team by replacing him with a prospect just because the prospect played good in his 12 games this year. I think Smith is definitely the better player right now. He would have had to vastly outplayed Smith for this to happen.

Red Wings acquire Marek Zidlicky from NJ for Cond. 2016 3rd Round Pick

I'm with you on this one. Marchenko's played really well, but we're not going with the inexperienced rookie over B. Smith or Quincey. I don't know why this is so much of a discussion on the board the last few days. Marchenko may be a real player for us in coming years, but (like with Mrazek) that time isn't now. Let him get used to becoming full time NHLer next year. Adding Zidlicky demonstrated we weren't comfortable going with him into the playoffs. The only way Marchenko stays in the lineup is if Quincey's foot injury gets worse and forces him out. Even if that happened I think Kindl would get the first call (he's been playing well since returning) and would have to show himself inept (like last year's playoffs). This is how it works with our prospects. Marchenko's been good, but not Dekeyser good where we are forced to treat him differently and clear a spot for him after a dozen games.

Paul Coffey wooden Sher-Woods all the way! Still have a bunch. Don't think they make them any more. The perfect wrister flies off almost automatically with that curve.

Red Wings acquire Marek Zidlicky from NJ for Cond. 2016 3rd Round Pick

You can't send a player down while he's on IR. They said they would send him down when he's healthy. They sent Jurco down (only on paper) to make him eligible for the AHL playoffs. They had to do that because Jurco hasn't played in the AHL this year, but the paper transaction I guess makes him technically an AHL player. They wouldn't have to do that for Marchenko since he's played substantial time with the Griffins. I think he'll be sent down to keep him playing. There's no sense in keeping him as the #7 and allowing his game to get rusty.

It seems to me that a player as big as Green should be able to just approach the company and get them to make more. They could use it as advertising and maybe rename it the Green Machine or something.

Red Wings acquire Erik Cole, conditional 3rd from Stars

Not me. At the time Yzerman had not proven that he could be a competent GM and we had one with a great history of success. I would not have chosen Yzerman just because he was an amazing hockey player.

Red Wings acquire Erik Cole, conditional 3rd from Stars

Holland is and was considered the best GM around by a lot of the media. He's done a lot for the organization. It would be disrespectful to him to make him give up his job just because a former player wanted the spot. As for "the wishes of the owner and the fans." don;t assume your opinion it that of all Red Wings fans. I see all he's done and I'm glad he the man at the Helm. Edit: And I know Yzerman wasn't just a former player, but you know what mean.

http://www.nhl.com/ice/player.htm?id=8467396 He's only been in the playoff 4 years (02,05,09,14) so that's an exaggerate way of looking at it. He only play 3 games in the playoffs last year and 2 in 05.

That's one way of putting it. You could also say that Pulkkinen in has the same number of points (2) in 12 games as Daniel Cleary has in 13 games. I really like Pulkkinen and I think he could be a real player, but I just think for him to be in the lineup come playoff time, he'll have to put up more points in the rest of the season. He does give us a different dimension, but it's a scoring dimension and he has to prove himself effective. He's not a player that would work in a 4th line role. Jurco can pull that off so I think he'd get in the lineup over Pulkkinen because of that.

Andersson won't be on the team come playoffs. He hasn't played badly, but I'm not sure why you want him in our lineup. Pulkinen probably won't be in the playoff lineup either unless he really starts contributing. That's fine. He needs more time to get used to the NHL. Anyway, it's very possible that Mule won't be here for playoffs so that would allow 1 back in. Nyquist-Z-Cole TT-D-Helm Franzen-Shea-Abby Miller-Glen-Jurco Andersson/Cleary Our D is not a disaster. Needs 1 upgrade, but it's working out for us.

That's just wrong. Adding 2 players (Pulks, Cole) means you have to get rid of 3/4 players (Cleary, Andersson, Weiss/Miller)??????????

He has more goals than anyone our team except Dats, Goose, and Tats. He'll fit in nicely beside either Z or D. He was playing on Spezza's wing on their top line.

Backman has upside, but Marchenko, XO, Sproul, Jensen are all ahead of him in depth. We couldn't even find a spot in GR and he went back to Sweden. Definitely expendible. He now has a place to play in AHL for Dallas's AHL affiliate.
