Yes please! My background is always cut off because there's no size to make it fit. I have a RAZR Max with the like 5 screen thing. I got it half-ass working right now but beauty wallpapers like this should be seen how they truly appear. It rates that.

I would have to say intentional. He had different avenues to get to the bench, none the less his awareness is like a peewee if he honestly didn't see Stephan coasting through the neutral zone. Just doesn't make sense to me. The hit could've been avoided by all personal measures to me. I guess my biggest thing is just not even attempting to avoid him. It's like he was playing chicken with a guy blindside to him....

Ah but if it was that easy I had told her I would volunteer at the ticket stand that night. Yeah... my foot has a bullet hole in it right about now.

I still have tub's of unopened hockey cards from the 90s... I really should get to opening them someday. Oh well, they're at my parents anyways. Awesome collection you got there man and even better than you found them after originally thinking they were gone forever! Maybe we should open a hockey card thread to showcase different collections. I'm sure some of you guys here got some outstanding ones. As for the new cards with the sweaters in them. They're actually pretty cool but I was stunned when I saw my first one the other month.

Please, do not! I'm being selfish and i'm upset even more now. Me and the lady normally do the home-openers in GR but this year... after we bought the tickets... it had dawned on us that she had a show that night and we couldn't make it. Now not only am I not going to see that beautiful banner being raised... IM GOING TO MISS HELMERS FIRST GAME WITH THEM. The stuff you do for significant others!

While both have shown the capability of handling themselves, over the course of a few games and even a season, they would get worn out real fast. None the less, the league hasn't learned of their traits yet. Having to play against defense that knows your style and moves... makes it a lot harder to play against. More so, are they capable of surpassing higher levels of defensive play thrown their way? I would agree with you that there is absolutely no chance I personally would want that line to be our 2nd line. Weiss still is learning how to play structured systems such as Babcocks. His plan relies heavily on thinking without the puck, along with it. You can tell Weiss still is thinking in his head, "What should I be doing right now? Where should I be? Oh s***, I gotta be over here!" He's admitted that this is all new to him. Nyquist can handle the full 200-ft game but Tatar is still working on it. It's been one of the main reasons Goose had more playing time than Tats. Tats can score at the cyclic but if you aren't attending to a full 200-ft game, it's not good enough to Babs. The biggest thing besides the size of that line is their capacity of shutting down other top lines playing the full 200-ft game. From what i've been able to watch there's some good but there is also many unknowns. The first line, well, Pasha and Sasha just looking like the pure euro-twin connection we know them as. They're doing stupid good so far this season. I like Bert on there, he can hold his own and I do believe Babs is making the right decision by throwing Abby further down to spark other lines. Abby's honestly turned into more than just a plug. He's getting it done. He's an actual piece to the puzzle now. Alfie reminds me of a Brunner right now, not in the sense of playing styles but that he is going to benefit more from playing on the 3rd line and working the PP. I think his age is showing and Babs and himself know that it's probably the best interest to play him on the 3rd. It gives really good depth. Franzen.. he's always just pissing me off. Could be such a player but he doesn't want to exert the energy to showcase it. It's really sad. He reminds me of someone who is just simply too scared to try "too hard" or allow people to see them play "too hard" and not put up the points. They basically shut themselves down because they're too scared of showcasing that they're trying but not to the level of expectancy. I'm not sure if that makes complete sense, but hopefully it does. Eaves and Miller have always played the same role and I think Miller has shown that he wants to stay in the line up, It's been a pleasure to watch Glendening and Miller kill penalities. Eaves is more shooter-prone I believe, but I really see him getting released... (it's sad to see especially after the whole jaw thing..) All in all, I think the team's got the capacity of being a really good team this year.

Will young talent ever speak out against Wings philosophy?
evilzyme replied to Red Wings Addict's topic in General
I agree with you that you can be a team like the Oilers and not have enough veteran leadership to lead the way. There are also numerous other problems with the Edmonton franchise, though. The biggest key to the Wings philosophy was that having a handful of veterans on your roster would not only allow for them to teach current youngsters how to play the right way, but to also delay and allow for the prospects to develop properly in the A/College/Juniors. Numerous franchises were rushing their prospects straight to their big show rosters because they needed the help asap. It puts insane amounts of pressure on the prospects and can hinder the development depending on the personality and work ethic. What really irks me right now is that Nyquist and Tatar can't develop in the AHL anymore. They're too good for the league. They need to be playing stiffer competition so they can learn how to execute at the NHL level. -

Wiz spoke against Detroit when he hit free agency. Basically stating that Detroit low-balls everyone and he would never sign with them. Then he signed with CBJ. Tatar spoke up against it stating that he wasn't going to go back to the AHL; he would rather go to the KHL. I'm sure numerous prospects have had words, or their agents speaking for them but it doesn't need to be public. Leagues, celebrities, athletes, businesses all put on a dog and pony show. It's how you look to the rest of the world. That's why we get so fascinated when we actually get a behind the scene look to see how things actually operate. I'm sure 24/7 will most likely feature some segments/episodes that will change your opinion of a few of our players. -
Calder cup but we got the memo! Its a shame what's happening right now. Wish we could see goose and tats with the roster right now.

Don't see how Tatar didn't earn a chance to be slotted in opening night. Busted his ass the past 4 seasons and even rocked out training camp and preseason. Everything the management throws at this kid he just takes it and keeps pushing. I can see how 'veterans' play until they screw up but my lord, what does this kid need to do for Babs to see him as the lethal threat he is?

GDT 9/27 Pre-Season GDT : Maple Leafs 2 at Red Wings 5

They said Weiss is just precautionary groin. Teammates would rather have him for the season opener so they told em to sit the period out. Good stuff -

Of course I have the day off and it won't be on fsd! Luckily we get CBS here and can watch it in its SD glory. -
He needs more poise for sure, you could see that last season. I haven't been able to see anything besides the almqvist goal in which smith just looked frazzled with the puck trying to do anything. Friday will be the first game I can catch if they air it.

I mean the locker room cancer things didn't just magically appear over night. He's been written about in books stating how much of a doucher he was. He thought he was the king bee and would talk down to other teammates, didn't think he had to show up on time, etc etc. Now, as always, these things can change over time as a person matures or just generally as they see fit. It seems like White wasn't up to his old antics during his time with the Wings franchise, but I think it's wrong to dismiss his previous incidents. As for him talking about getting sat, IIRC, he went off pretty bad at first but then re-buttled to make it sound like he was just simply frustrated. Ofcourse I can understand that he is frustrated that he wasn't playing and obviously felt like he deserved to be, anyone can agree with that motion. My problem, ofcourse, was the fact that he wanted to go to the media and talk about it. All he simply needed to say was, "i'll prove myself next time i'm in the lineup that I should remain there." Simple as that. Don't give the fans and media something to talk about, especially as a professional athlete. As towards conflicts between Babcock and White, that's simply speculative. In the end, I always thought he was a servicable defensemen and didn't deserve the slack he got from time to time. It's hard playing hockey as a smaller figure, and even more harder while trying to play defense. Wasn't the best defender, but he could contribute from time to time. Unfortuantely, he just never got back on his feet after #5 left, IMHO.
-
He was awfully loud about Babcock's decisions to not play him. If you search about him, you'll find articles about White being a complete locker room cancer with previous teams also. It just seems like he doesn't know how to just shut up and earn what you want. Some people just want the past to dictate the future in their lives. [Doing things previously and getting things done currently are not the same]

gdt 9/21 Pre-Season GDT : Boston Bruins at Red Wings, 7:00 EST
evilzyme replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Like 55, first day that there's a game and I don't have to work during it.... naturally it wouldn't be televised. -
They use the flat-blocky letters for development camp/training camp/preseason. It's just more cost-efficient than using the authentic lettering that is individually sown on. Those blocky-straight fonts are basically just name-plates that can be thrown on there at a moments notice.

I could see it being about the new arena or something along those lines also
-
I heard Holland said it was nothing serious just them being cautious. I hope so...
-
I had caught 2 goals (Andersson and Pasha) while at work. If anyone could supply some highlights... much appreciated.
-
I hope it's that Stevie or Feddy are going to participate in it. I think you nailed it on the head though; they would never do something like that to the outgoing player(s)
-
Ansar Khan @AnsarKhanMLive5m Wings skating with these lines: Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Abdelkader, Franzen-Weiss-Tatar, Cleary-Andersson-Nyquist, McIntyre-Glendening-Tootoo.

Thanks for the clarification. Twitter was telling another story; I believe it was Malik that said that Smitty challenged him, but it may have been Ken Kal.

I was wondering what the hell it was because like Crymson, I was searching for more elaboration on it. You basically hit the nail on the head with the new version of Oil Change.
