I believe Murray is a draft/player development type guy. Exactly what they need for a rebuild. Ottawa never really shyed away from trades either, so he'll probably also be aggressive in moving the pieces they still have left. He was quoted as saying something like anyone on this team can be traded right now. I don't why they hired Patrick. Play management maybe?

Bingo I don't care so much about the Richards not batting for him stuff... As JJ I'd expect him to put a good word in for me... but when it comes down to it Richards has to help put the best team together, and if there's a better option than his own JJ, well, that's how the cookie crumbles.

I remember taking him specifically in 2011 because of all the "Russian Factor" talk, and about how we stole him by luring him over. Spleen removal is a major procedure, but you can easily recover 100% from it. He made a full recovery and the next year he was ranked 25th overall in Europe. Still went undrafted... that is until the wings took him with their last pick. My understanding was that the Wings approached him and he said he would come over if they drafted him. so they used their last pick on him, knowing no one else would draft him.

Marchenko? Is that the kid who in 2010 was ranked 12th overall among European skaters, but told teams he only wanted to play in Russia and went undrafted? The same kid who the very next year told the Wings he would play for them if they took him, and the Wings drafted him with their very last pick in the 9th round? He's probs just a plug. 9th round picks never pan out...

Karlsson, Tryamkin, Draisaitl, will all be relatively high draft picks this year. The other two I haven't heard of.

They traded a first round guy for him. A guy who's big, but hasn't progressed in their system. When it comes down to it they traded a first round pick for a ANOTHER pair of boxing gloves. This is a loss for the flames. Even if they were salvaging a poor first round pick, it's still a loss. Especially since Westgarth will not give them anything they don't already have. Not surprisingly, Burke is as dumb as Feaster.

Nothing will ever happen to Jerseys. That's brand suicide in NA (at least right now). The most we can expect is to have pretty much everything else turned into ads.

Did anyone pay attention to the part where Babs talks about the morning skate? He says that because he has "Kids" on the team he has to make morning skate mandatory, Implying that young players are not as good/ready blah blah blah. He says that if it was mostly vets he wouldn't have to make it mandatory. I for one always beleived Babs and Holland favored vets for a variety of reasons. But that exchange made, at least to me, it seem like to me that young players are just basically completely unappreciated here. thoughts?

Have fun proving both those claims IMO, with all the rule changes that have happened, enforcers that effectively prevent dirty plays and injury don't exist anymore. Nowadays cheap shots happen league wide, whether you have an enforcer or not. We aren't special. I believe we need an enforcer to spark the team after the dirty play or when the other team is outhitting and outskating us Types of enforcers have changed as well as the rules. No longer do you have guys like Probert who could play top line scoring minutes and police the ice the whole night. Now you have 4th line plugs with fists who who spend half the season scratched. They simply started teaching big guys who could score to fight less after the rule changes in the 90's.

I would give anything for a 43 Lidstrom right now. I hate that he will be a gordie howe in the minds of my children. We are so blessed to have even witnessed his greatness. Hopefully these kids carry the elite and classy legacy on.
