I think a lot of people have forgotten just how significant his surgery was. If I recall correctly, they had to cut a wedge shaped piece out of one of his leg bones to shift the weight bearing, and he was the first professional athlete to return and play after that surgery. Stevie Y bled for the Wings for a very long time, and owes nothing. That said, it's entirely possible that he just isn't physically able to skate anymore, and doesn't want to tarnish the memories many have of his career. I remember him having to use his stick to get up after going down several times. After years of not skating, he doesn't have the conditioning to do so most likely. He is also much older and wouldn't recover as easily. For all we know skating could be him jeopardizing walking if he goes down the wrong way. I'd love to see him skate as much as the next fan, but not if it is jeopardizing his health. Like Dabura said, DeKeyser made a helluva play to knock the puck off Stamkos's stick on the 2 on 1. For missing two of our top 6 forwards, and one of our top pair D (Ericsson), to only be down 1 to the conference leader is not too bad. They've had their chances, and the passing has been bad, but give TB some credit, they are a good team. The game is far from over. Let's Go Wings!

Is it possible that ten of the first seventeen games being against Western rather than Eastern opponents has anything to do with it? A lot of sources say the East is easier, so being near the top while playing tougher foes should be a good sign. Hiw many of the Eastern teams have as many of thie interconference games out of the way? Another positive is that travel is going to be much easier for the Wings as the season progresses. The Western Canada swing is already done. I think that actually bodes well for the team. I'm down on Quincey, Sammy, and Cleary as much as the next fan, but they aren't the only reasons for not having a 17-0-0 record at the moment.
