With RH shots we can at least put someone there for the option. I'm not trying to say one of these young guys or Brunner is the next Shanny or Hull. However, even having the option of the one timer presents a facet to the offense that has been lacking. It's one more thing that opposing defenses are going to have to worry about. Who knows, having RH on the off wing also can send it the other way for an LH one timer. Maybe Nyquist or Brunner will flourish there. In any case, it's a step up from the overall look the PP had last year.

The presence of multiple RH shots creating one-timer opportunities should do wonders for the offense, particularly on the PP. Z Winged Dangler hit it on the head. How many times last season during GDT threads were people complaining about not going for a one timer on the PP. I recall mentioning the lack of one-timer setups quite a few times myself. I think we will be pleasantly surprised by the PP improvement this season. Edit: Does anyone remember if we've had a legit one-timer threat up front since Hull and Shanny left?

I have a huge soft spot for the Yzerman 2OT goal against the Blues. That game was the same night as the first spring concert I conducted in my teaching career. I got home in time to see the start of the 2nd OT, and when Stevie scored I was flipping out while still wearing my tux. I also remember actually being able to pick up playoff games on WJR here in PA and occasionally using my car horn as a goal siren if there was no traffic near me.

If one side flat out refuses to bargain in good faith I have no problem calling them out on it. However, I also think neither side in this dispute is angelic. In some ways the initial league proposal is forcing the NHLPA to respond with an equally ridiculous offer to set the stage to eventually reach an equitable middle ground. Maybe Fehr's reputation from his MLB days pushed the league to offer such an outlying proposal, but I'm inclined to think Bettman is just that much of a f**ktard.

The forced socialism of the cap isn't working, other than to punish the franchises that can make money. If you are depending on revenue sharing to maintain your franchise, you have absolutely no frakking business offering mega deals to free agents then crying poverty in CBA negotiations. If you can't legitimately afford it, don't expect others to bail you out. Heck, I'd LOVE to drive a Lamborghini, but since I'm a teacher, not a doctor or lawyer, or professional athlete, it's not happening unless I get lucky with a powerball ticket or, like some of these owners, over extend myself or outright lie on the credit app. And when I can't make the payments, there isn't a bailout or revenue sharing. If that means certain well-run franchises have a better shot at the cup, so be it. Spending more is by no means a guarantee for a championship. Maybe a luxury tax/soft cap system would be better, but the owners like Mr. Ilitch who can actually run a franchise should speak up. Sadly, there are some owners who apparently need to be saved from themselves. The Wings sucked and sucked hard for a long time before the Ilitches bought the franchise. Good management paved the way for the rise to prominence and excellence.

I have an irrational need to terminate them stemming from an alleged encounter with a black widow when I was very young (I fell asleep on the porch of my dad's huntiing cabin and when I woke up there was a large black squish near me and my uncle said it had been a black widow that had crawled on me and if it had bitten me I'd have died). TPBM had a good amount of coffee this morning.

If I'm not violently ill or my wife isn't insisting I stay home because I'm sicker than I admit, I teach. I hate missing choir rehearsals, and for my music theory or music lit classes, it's a real pain since much more often than not a music certified sub isn't available. Plus, 99% of the time I love my job. TPBM has had to provide first aid of more than just a simple band-aid.

Carman makes a very good point about Quincey. Coming over at the deadline, he may have been feeling pressure to try to do too much, something that Lidstrom's injury could very easily have exacerbated. With the benefit of training camp and preseason with the Wings, I think a lot of people will be pleasantly surprised. As far as Bouwmeester, I would NOT give up Fil, Smith, Nyquist, or Mule. His salary is very high for what he brings, imho. I don't think he would suck here, but he isn't a player I'd trade a lot for and make a hole elsewhere to acquire. Emmerton, Mursak or Tatar, and a mid round pick I'd pull the trigger, but I highly doubt Feaster would take that, even if you don't consider the apparent Red Wings surcharge that almost every GM would add to any potential trade.
