Bingo. Vibrato is supposed to be a controlled effect to enhance long tones, not obscure them. At least she wasn't adding melismas on top of it. Nothing like ending a phrase that's written with a half note as the closing note and replacing it with thirty pitches, the vast majority of which fall out of the diatonic scale appropriate to the piece being performed (or even better, falling between semitones) and not once hitting the correct pitch during the whole run.

Happy Turtle Day. I too remember watching the game on ESPN. Here in PA it was rare for Wings games to be televised so if they were on I went out of my way to watch it. A couple friends came over and we were pigging out on steak, chicken spiedies, and bacon since we thought something big was going to happen, based on how the season series had gone up to that point. Hearing Clement and Thorne getting into the call fired us up, and once the brawl erupted, we got VERY loud. The landlord came up to see what was going on in time to see the replay and was surprisingly chill about things. I have the Wings DVD set that has the 1997-2002 cup wins and that game is also in it. I think that will be the pregame vid tonight. Thanks for the reminders of a great game.

Completely classless with the "let me hear you" during O Canada. I don't have a problem with opera singers doing the anthems, as I've heard many of them perform them well and with the respect and dignity the songs deserve. I've also heard far too many "vocalists" from all genres turn the national anthems into exercises in musical masturbation. This one's vibrato, however, was beyond obnoxious. If a soprano was to sing like that for any of the honors chorus auditions I've been involved with she wouldn't qualify for districts, let alone regions or all states. While being part of a chorus is different than being a soloist, vibrato wide enough to drive a semi truck through that detracts from the performance is never acceptable. /music teacher mode

It wasn't me. I agree Conklin wasn't good but no way were all four goals his fault. The LaRose goal was a huge defensive breakdown . TBH I didn't see 3 and 4 against since my feed went out. He did make some good saves though yo keep it from being worse. He got a win that he deserved against NYR. Your point about coming back from adversity is good, but the bigger lesson that was hopefully learned is that constanly pressuring with no letting up is the way to claw back, not just flipping the proverbial switch in the third.

That's what made me think of the Yzerman surgery. Lot of heart for him to tough that out.

I think it may be worse than people are thinking, maybe even like what Yzerman had to have.

I've got a feeling a lot of people are going to be surprised once the full extent of his injury is revealed. Welcome back Nick Lidstrom, congrats on breaking the losing streak to the whole team. Congrats to Conklin on a long overdue win. The team showed a lot of heart in staying the course and not letting Ward get in their collective heads. Zetterberg was a beast tonight, and Nyquist looked pretty good as well, IMHO.
