This. As bad as Ericsson was on two plays where he got burned, he wasn't the only one who could have been MUCH better. Most noticeably bad due to the two goals? Heck yes. But others were bad as well. Sadly the Cleary whiff on the open net, even with a rolling puck, also stands out as a significant missed chance. Blowing those against a goalie as hot as Elliot has been, like I said, more often than not, will do just that. Howie played pretty well, the goals against he was hung out to dry or a defender was tripped on the faceoff and no call.

I'd have to agree there seems to be a recent trend of the Wings' level of play dropping off in the 2nd. No idea why, and I don't think it's the longer distance to the bench from the d zone. Still if the "normal" pick it up for the 4rd happens, we should be happy after the final horn.

For the Wings to not be playing well and to still be tied up I'll take it, though grudingly. I just hope Cleary's whiff on the empty net doesn't come back to bite them.
