Is it wrong to want a d-man to "accidentally" send a slapper near his head like I seem to recall Chelios doing a few seasons ago? Still, the Wings just plain got outplayed in the second and that was the difference. Conklin only had a chance on 1 goal against and in all honesty, he really hoovered it hard. This loss wasn't Conklin's fault. The whole team blew it. If they didn't have the breakdowns that led to the goals, O'Halloran couldn't have been a factor. I'm more worried about the loss of Filppula than I am the loss of the two points.

TSN has a final shot count for the 2nd as 19-4 Colorado. Maybe this will be like the TB game and they'll blow it open in the 4rd. That was a terrible period, they got seriously outplayed. One goal Conklin didn't really have a chance on, the second was just... well I'm sure Mickey would have had a colorful comment if he was in the booth. Regroup for the third, come out with the pedal to the metal and tie it early then blow it open.

Shots are 16-3 Colorado with 2:20 left according to tsn.ca. That isn't Conklin's fault. They need to tighten up big time. I'd forgotten that. This. Yes, the second goal was egregiously bad, but it isn't exactly fair to expect Vezina-level play when the guy gasn't played in forever. (Though NHL-level would be nice... ). Conkblocker has got to be rusty as hell.

That's not a good sign. O'Halloran has never been a ref to call it down the middle in a Wings game. Hopefully the team steps it up to blow it open far enough to make it a non-factor. Yes I'm still bitter about the '07 playoffs.

It would have made an awesome youtube moment if Miller went old school NWA wrestling and channeled Magnum T.A. and caught the leaping Tootoo and gave him a belly to belly suplex. Of course I say this because Tootoo is a ****** who I'd enjoy seeing get destroyed since more often than not, IMHO, he seems to skate around looking for the cheap shot oblivious to the presence of a puck on the ice. That said, in fairness to Tootoo, It did look like Ehrhoff helped guide him into Miller, though I do think he could have done a heck of a lot more to avoid the goalie, despite the shove.
