Considering his last performance in the Pepsi Center, I think it bodes well and the rest of the team is clicking. Conkblocker stands tall and only lets in two, one which he has no chance whatsoever on, the other not so much to allow for the requisite LGW complaining. Offensively, Franzen mule kicks with a three point night, Conner is a sparkplug and scores one, Pavel dazzles daringly with a devastating Datsyukian deke, and Kronwall and Lidstrom get into the giving spirit of the holidays and give the fans a goal and an assist each. 5-2 Wings final score.

Just saw the hit on dvr playback. The Buffalo feed showed a different angle from behind and to the right of McNabb as it cut to commercial and it looked like shoulder to visor but it may have been a result of initial contact to the chest. Like the head came forward after the first contact. I don't have a better angle. Do tell for those of us who aren't able to see it, please.

I'm at the halfway point on the DVR of it (Buffalo feed unfortunately) and he's looked extremely good thus far.

Good. Seemed like he was playing well for the Griffs. After spending most of last year in the bigs, I bet he's pretty hungry and raring to make the most of this opportunity.

Just got home. Glad I dvr'd both the Sabres feed and the NHL network feed. I was happy to see NHL net had the FSD feed.... For about 5 minutes then they cut to NHL live doing a lengthy live look-in of a different game, likely since I'm on the Binghamton, NY cable system which is considered Sabres territory. Thanks for the GDT as always, the frozen moment is a nce touch btw. Rockin the Zetterberg winter classic jersey up in Bing while running a few errands and it was cool to see the Wings score three goals in the time it took me to do about 1/3 of my grocery shopping. Shared that with a couple of folks wearing Sabres jerseys (Miller and Ray) while in line at the deli counter. Had a nice chat - they HATE Leino like many folks here hate on Ericsson and Hudler, which amused my wife anf daughter. Anyone got a short summary of how Zetterberg, Pavs, and Conner looked? I'm at 11:00 of the 1st on the dvr playback.

From a purely hockey ability standpoint I can grudgingly agree, but his extracurricular shenanigans like the pill punch and the gratuitous whining and diving early in his career nullify that to a large degree. Yzerman had far more class, imho. If the media didn't force feed him to us so much I think folks might be a bit less critical of him, and while it isn't necessarily his fault, it still is a factor.

Howie was friggin amazing, I don't think anyone is disputing that. I guess we COULD put a certain points vs. win pct. obsessed poster onto the task of save pct. as a stat instead of a save pct. against quality shots with a degree of difficulty multiplier to count among the stat reconciliation. If someone only read the box score they wouldn't be able to apreciate the awesomeness Top Jimmy displayed in the net tonight.

I've noticed that. If I wasn't on an ipod i'd + ya. Keep them going. How bad is it though that Jimmy's save pct went down tonight? He was .930 and he was 21/23 tonight and a lot of them were quality chances as opposed to weak perimeter shots? Pavs was great again, I think he's back. And while I've called Ericsson on the carpet in the past I've gotta give some props for his multipoint game.

Just caught up to the live feed with the dvr. Great goals by pavs and homer. Helmer might have some hands after all. The 4 min PP seemed like a bj's PP rather than detroit. Holy crap Howie has been good. And edzo and milbury STILL suck.

I saw the Zednik on highlights and it was scary. I didn't include it in my list since I didn't see the actual game. I'm surprised more of those incidents haven't happened but I'm also very glad they haven't.

I haven't watched the game on my DVR yet since I just got back in but I'm glad to see them stand tall after a tense game yesterday. Seems like Fil is having his long awaited breakout season thus far and that Hank is getting back on track from what I've been reading. Time for our foes to "Fear the Zetterbeard" since Hank is back.

It was from a Dimitri Mironov slapshot if I recall correctly. Pronger dropped in a way that you just knew something was wrong. The only things scarier that I saw on the ice were the Jiri Fischer incident and Clint Malarchuk getting sliced in the throat by a skate.

Hrm... so merely invoking the Zetterbeard has restorative powers? Awesome, I hope they blow it open and keep the pedal to the medal until the final horn.

This was absolutely a great game to watch. The league couldn't have asked for more for a showcase game like this. Hopefully the ratings were through the roof. I think people complain when the Wings don't steamroll opponents because they've been so good for so long. They won ugly today. I think that this shows that Jimmy is capable of stealing a game when they get outplayed. This is a good thing. It is a combination of arrogant and naive to expect the boys to outplay opponents every single game of the season. While I root for it, as fans we need to be realistic. Plus, there is another team on the ice that is attempting to impose their will each night. The Bruins were the hottest team in the league as well as defending Stanley Cup Champs. I don't think ANYONE should have expected them to not come out hard.

I think Cleary is finally getting over the upper body injury he had at the start of the season. He looked better today imho as well. Homer has a huge pair. When he retires, transplanting them on Franzen would yield amazing results. Z had a great play to set up Fil but that giveaway for the 2nd Boston goal was the worst play I can recall him making in ages. Still there were other sweet plays he made like the Bert chance. I wonder if he isn't 100% healthy. Or maybe it's a Samson effect since he isn't rocking the full beard ATM.
