Very close call. As much as I like seeing them open up a lead, sometimes it feels like when they do they back off. I just hope they got woken up by the ringing of the post.

You're hitting the nail on the head. I was flipping initially as well until I saw the white paint. They've called back goals for much less which is why I think so many folks a frustrated but the call was by the letter of the rulebook whether we like it or not.

My wife borrowed the iPod to check something online but what an effort by Helm for that shorthander. The Yotes had a lot of pressure during the second but the Wings have opened it up despite being shorthanded repeatedly. PHX feed just said Derek Morris out for the rest of the game with a lower body injury.

It's just so frustrating because the letter of the rule seems to be chronically ignored by the refs. Is it so wrong to want consistent fair officiating (as opposed to consistently crappy officiating) It's done, gotta put it behind us and bear down for the second. Game on. Hopefully the boys have a mad-on.

Glad to see them overcome the bs no goal call. I'm guessing the ice must be one heck of a lot better than in Anaheim since they banged in 2 on 1 PP

Glad to see an early lead. A win will ease the anger of getting screwed over by battle.net hard earlier (friggin Diablo II) Crazy that the PP didn't click in the first, especially with the 5-3. I just hope that it doesn't encourage the Ducks to play dirtier than usual.
