I think partly it's been held over from when all the teams sang the Canadian Anthem at their games after the Ottawa shootings. Lots of Ontario folks are season ticket holders for the Sabres also. Just guesses on my part, however.

Best Hasek memory was definitely the Gaborik launching. Hopefully they show it during the tribute video and it inspires Mrazek. I'm stuck with the Buffalo feed due to it being local to the Binghamton Time Warner Cable, but at least I will be able to see the ceremony. Here's hoping the Wings light it up on the Sabres in a big way. As in Oprah picks up the Wings scoresheet and starts playing "Hank gets a point! Pavel gets a point! EVERYBODY GETS A POINT!!!!!111!" for them on the scoreboard.

I agree that Holland wouldn't have signed him if he knew there were concussion issues. What was the other issue either last season or the previous season, social anxiety or something like that? That could also be a factor.

When Smith and Kronwall were paired last season they seemed to click well together. I'd be fine with it. I also like the balanced pairs idea, if it is done wisely. If you are going offensively minded with a stay at home pair, I don't think Kindl/Lashoff is a good idea unless it is in very sheltered minutes, and that is pushing it.

What about something along the lines of Franzen: switched to a$$ mode from Mule mode after signing the contract? (Note to mods, the $'s were to emphasize the pay day, not to intentionally circumvent the swear filter). The frustrating thing is, every so often he shows flashes of how good he could be, but can't sustain it then disappears for a lengthy time. I still hope he can get back into playoff beast mode, but I don't expect it.

Mrazek will be fine, IMHO. I have a feeling he is going to step up like Fedorov did when Yzerman was hurt and had to be "the man". If they can muster some goals so Mrazek doesn't have to wear his backpack and carry them by stealing every game, they should be just fine.

I'm going to hope for positive (at least as positive as possible) news. He has had a great season thus far, and the team is going to need him for the playoff push. As much as I like Mrazek, I'd prefer Jimmy back at 100% regardless. Plus, he needs a certain percentage of the games played as far as league stats leaders recognition at the end of the year, right.

Average Jimmy is average. In all seriousness, it's nice to see him get recognition as opposed to some other Wings goalies who played well but got no credit for it due to the team in front of them.

I'm at the Dinosaur in Syracuse again, top notch BBQ has been a good luck charm for the boys. Let's Go Wings! I'd love to see Pulks light it up as well.
