Get up 3 early, buckle into the roller coaster ride, get out played terribly for stretches, hold on, regulation win. 2 points. In all seriousness it was a good win. We are still so bad in our own end for stretches but actually scoring some goals alleviates so much pressure. Congrats to Coreau on the shutout

I don't understand how it's hard to get a viewing, you can watch anywhere anytime for free ( illegal streams) or not with NHL.tv. I admit I don't watch as much as I used to anymore but that has nothing to do with my love for the team ( Kids, Kids sports, kids lives etc...) but in my opinion part of being a fan is being there in the same capacity you were when they were winning. I have never been to the Joe and I am going there in March, I don't care if they are out the playoffs or not at that point. This team has given me 20+ years of enjoyable competitive hockey and 4 stanley cups, they don't owe me a thing. I will pay for NHL.tv, I will buy merchandise. But hey thats just me. Call me old school.

Here is the way I would do the lines. I am taking no consideration of position into this because at this point who cares Vanek - Z - Neilsen - The veterans line Gus - Shaehan - Tatar - The underachievers line AA - Larkin - Mantha - We might eff up a bunch of times but hell we will be exciting line Ott - Glen - Miller - Work hard and get nothing done line. As for the D I have nothing to say. Ericcson is on the golden ticket , he will never get benched. Without Green it's probably the worst collection of d men in the league. With Green we are still bad. So the Wings have been a competitive franchise for 25 years and if they have a couple of down years you're just going to stop watching? You know there is a name for that kind of fan right?

Anyway you look at it .500 hockey doesn't do it for us anymore. We need to go on a heater in the next 20 games no matter who we play. We need to win 75% of the games.

Agreed, Green has been very good this year. This team is not as good without him out there. I agree, this team can't play in its own end as much as it does. It's so glaring. Only way to get out of your own end is to have people who can move the puck. There isn't even a C+ passer on our D right now. Green is a B when he's playing but.............he's hurt.

You can use those stats anyway you want. Mantha was great today and I hope it continues for 10 years but he's not Matthews. When Matthews is 22 he will be miles above where Mantha is right now.

Fun comeback but we can't live 1 point at a time. We need to reel off a win streak. We need to win 15 of 20 just to get back into it and it needs to start now.

Mantha and Larkin are as good as who? Matthews? Are you serious? Larkin and Mantha are good players but not even in the same level as Matthews. Kid has 20 goals. Larking and Mantha don't have 20 combined.

If we have to overpay to get a couple of guys I'm fine with it. I watched Fowler make more good passes in one period the other night against the Canucks than our D combined today. NOt having Green is tough too. He was playing good hockey and he's a great passer.

I don't care what they have to do to get a puck moving d man or two but make it happen. This is pathetic, we spend wayyyyy too much time in our own end. Our forwards never break out with speed because we have no one who can pass it to them. We have to start from the back end.

This team and organization is stale. It's needs a refresh, and no that doesn't mean tanking. We need some fresh blood and we've already seen some of that with Mantha, AA, Sproul etc.. but we need a trade. A good ole hockey trade or a couple of them where we move 3-4 guys out and get 3-4 new guys in. This organization was getting stale in the last few year of Lids career and as much as I love Pavel he looked indifferent alot of nights where it seemed he would turn it on only when he had to ( which still made him better than 80% of the players in the league). This organization has been loyal to a fault and in the good times it's amazing but in the bad times it can look really bad on you. I love Holland but it's no time to be complacent and loyal. Get off your hands, pick up the phone and change the culture.
