10/13 GDT : at Tampa Bay Lighting 6, Red Wings 4
puckbags replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in 2016-17
We are a product of our defense.............and they suck. Can't make a pass. Can't stop anyone in our own end. Out of position all night. I'm not a Holland hater but this defense is on him. At least try and change the culture back there. If Mrazed hadn't have made 10 good saves this would be a 5 goal game. -
It's like finding junk in your house that isn't worth anything and trying to decide whether it's worth even trying to fix up and use or having a garage sale and selling it for .50 cents to someone who may find minimal usage for it. All those guys mentioned are underachievers...hard to get something for them when they aren't worth much. Redwings blunder? Lol. I would be willing to wager with anyone on this site that regardless of what line " Pookie" plays on this year he won't score more than 15 goals.

Should any of #91, #13, #40, #30 be retired? Poll/Discussion

You mean we will add Joe Morrow so we can have another d man who is exactly like 4 of the other pluggers we have on D? -

You don't have to answer this but I would be interested to know how old you are just so I can legitimize your points. Yzerman played in the Gretzky/Lemieux era, 2 of the top 5 forwards ever. The DUDE as you call him is 7th in all time scoring and managed to carve his own path and then humbly adjusted his game for the benefit of the team late in his career. I'm 37 and if I had to list the generational talents of my youth Yzerman would 100% be on that list. -

I love how people say Z is done. He had 50 points last year. His role needs to change and I think he needs to fit more into Stevie's role late in his career. He isn't even close to done. That being said none of those guys listed belong in the rafters. -
In ranking based on " holy s*** I've never seen a guy do that before " Dats would be #1 for me. In the 80's Datsyuk would've been absolutely scary. I digress. I'm going to base mine on guys i've seen play ( Im 37) : 1. Lidstrom 2. Yzerman 3. Fedorov 4. Datsyuk 5. Shanny

Official 2016 Detroit Red Wings Offseason Thread
puckbags replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
I think it's all about that right there. He's been close in T Bay and I really find it hard to believe that he will want to go way backwards to teams that have no chance of contending. I hope that he will see with the Wings that with him and a couple of other moves we have a chance to contend. Larkin and Stamkos going forward makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. -
The thing is they aren't just clearing cap space for one year, if they can clear this contract and get the space they have a really legit chance at getting Stamkos which is a generational type player. To the topic at hand though. Farewell to #13. Top 5 favorite Wings all time. He did things on the ice that no other players could do past or present. Good luck in the future Pav.

Silliest thing I have heard in a long time but it's Bettman so what do we expect. People who live in Vegas don't like to go anywhere near the strip so why would you expect them to come to the strip to watch a sport they have no interest in watching? The novelty of guys like me going to a Wing's game once a year or every couple of years will wear off pretty quick. Over/under on this lasting more than 7 years?
-
What does that have to do with anything that happened today? It's a day to celebrate the life of a legend, not to compare him to other great players. But for the record putting Feds above Mr. Hockey is comicial.
-
Just watched a tribute on sportsnet. When Lidstrom came to Detroit he asked to wear # 9. They pointed to the rafters and told him he couldn't wear that number. #5 looks pretty good up there too. RIP Mr Hockey.

Alexander Radulov: Wings on short-list of desired teams
puckbags replied to TheDetroitRedWings's topic in General
If Radulov is honestly looking for 7.5 million/yr for 2 years as the rumors are floating around he and his agent are out of their minds. -

Unplug the PS4/Xbox, put down the controller and walk away slowly. -

Richards was never coming back for another year so that one is whatever. Quincey has value but not enough value to warrant the kind of money he will probably get on the open market. I was always indifferent on Q but he had a pretty good year. -
@ 25 years of being a Wings fan and the last 2 games of that series are still tough. Would've been our second back to back in a 11 year span. Hurts.

You are so blinded by your hatred of a guy who coaches a hockey team you enjoy watching that if you tripped right now and fell on your face and Blashill was 1000 miles away from where you are you would find a way to blame him.
-
In the playoffs Holland would/should be way less involved but during the regular season he would have to be involved because of cap implications, roster size, roster restrictions, waivers etc...
-
Haha, now there are rumors abound that Z was overruling Blashill's lineup decisions. Drama at its finest. Do consider that one of the sources is some guy who has a hatred for Detroit sports @JeffMossDSR
-
Blashill himself doesn't make the decision on who to send down or call up. You honestly think that Holland after all his time with this organization isn't providing some feedback to Blashill about roster moves? You are so misinformed. I agree with some of your other comments and like I said he made some glaring mistakes but blaming him for everything that went wrong is ignorant and incorrect.

gdt ECQF Game 5 Post-GDT: at Tampa Bay 1, Red Wings 0 (TB Wins, 4-1)
puckbags replied to vladdy16's topic in General
Bill Simmons talks about this all the time with the NBA, we are in no mans land. Good enough to make the playoffs but not good enough to contend. -
Hate ? Cmon man, are you like 12? The guy is a hockey coach. He got out coached big time and has a lot to learn at this level but at the end of the day he's just a dude and dudes make mistakes.

That series was a synopsis of our whole season. Couldn't score. Special teams sucked. Clearly were out coached and Ericsson was on the ice for a big goal against. To the people who think a move at the deadline would've helped should be happy now that we saved the picks and prospects because without some proactive thinking this team was going nowhere. Tough last game for Pav, hope he stays but I think thats it. I would sell the house, farm, cars and even the kids to get Stamkos. Once in a 10 year type span to get a player like him. Show him everything he wants to see and at the end of the day if he wants to go somewhere else so be it...but please put in some effort. This organization is stale and needs a hockey trade or two. There are many servicable guys on this team still but roles need to be redefined. -

It's one of the weirdest things ever to watch them make the same plays on the PP over and over again. -

I don't care so much about the forward lines, 5 on 5 we have been fine but the D has to be juggled around and the PP needs a total face lift. I would literally put anyone on the PP at this point if they will shoot the damn puck.
