Totally agree but we aren't good enough to take 20 minutes off.

We lost, thats all that matters. But it was a high level game, tight checking, some grit. We can play with these guys. I would suggest that those lines aren't going to stay together for very long. I would put Abby out against Drouin all night long and be in his face all game.

Tell me why Larkin deserves more ice time? He hasn't done anything for 25-30 games, teams figured out they need to slow him down in the neutral zone and he has done nothing to adjust. WHy all the panic? It's total amateur bandwagon fan hour around here. The series is 1-0 and it obvioiusly clear we can play with these guys. Mix up the lines a bit and bury our chances.

Mantha is in the minors, those lines are terrible. Why put Larkin with Z, I can keep up to Z right now. Larkin should be with Sheahan and Gus.

That was definitely the Green we paid for. He was excellent. Richards had another gear tonight too. Howard got outplayed but that was not the difference in the game. We have to find ways to get the puck in the net because I think for the majority of the game tonight we were the better team. On to game 2.

Everyone will blame Jimmy because thats what people do and I do think Bishop was the better goalie but the only factor in this game is our inability to put the puck in the net. Good hockey game, series has a little stink to it which is good.

We are really letting a guy who played most of the season in the AHL dictate the game? Cmon.

Tatar and Gus can not be on the ice at the same time at this time of the game. That shift is a prime example why.

Lines at practice today : Abby-Pasha-Z Goose-Sheahan-Tatar Helm-Richards-Larkin AA-Glendening-Andersson I like these lines. The only way to get Z going is to play him with Pav. I think we will see Glendening moved up to play with Helm and Larkin at some point. If Goose and Tatar can't find a way to play defensively they can move Helm up to that line. LETS PLAY !! Only team that has made the playoffs 25 years in a row and won 4 cups in that time.....

I love how you make it sound so easy to pawn off a 7.5 million dollar contract. No one is going to take it. You can't bury money anymore with nothing to show for it even if you need to get to the floor. Life changes, Pav for personal or professional reasons is going home 1 year short of fulfilling his contract. Being the class act that he is he already admitted he should've signed 1 year deals instead of a 3 year contract. His 7.5 million was already allocated for next year so it has no bearing on what we could/would be able to afford but i'm not naive not to admit that extra 7.5 would basically give us unlimited Stamkos money. Fire Holland? Cmon man. Attempt to be semi rational.

One of the classiest guys ever to lace em up for the Wings. He doesn't owe this franchise a thing. Worked his ass off every night and never complained. I think if Pavel played in the late 80's/early 90's he may be up there with the all time point leaders. We will pay the Pavel tax for one year but he's obviously leaving for strong personal reasons. I think he's pretty banged up beyond what we know. One more run with the Magic Man, lets make it count.

The thing you get with Andersson is that he is good defensively and he can fill in killing penalties. The margin for error narrows this time of year and I think he definitely narrows the gap over anyone else that may play in his place. If Jurco, AA , Mantha are our healthy scratches it gives us some piss and vinegar coming off the bench if needed.

Well the fact that he doesn't touch the ice in close games would pretty much answer your question. It's the same reason Gus doesn't touch the ice in close games. Too much stickhandling and being on the wrong side of the puck too much of the time. AA has a bright future but if he is in the lineup he will be used very sparingly.

THere is absolutely no way AA and Mantha will play in the same game in the playoffs unless we are seriously desperate. Neither of them are even close to where they need to be defensively and when line matching gets really greasy in the playoffs they will get exposed. Z - D - Abs Larkin - Sheahan - Gus Helm - Glen - Tats Andy - Richards - Mantha/AA Sheahan and Glendening have been very good lately. The only way to get Z going is to play him with Pavel.
