    Day to Day Practice thread

Slight over reaction perhaps? One of the classiest organizations in sports......ever. It's a little dust up, who cares. 10 years ago we wouldn't have even heard about this. These guys spend a lot of time together, stuff like this is bound to happen. That makes my day right there !!

Nice Lids Article on ESPN (I know)

It was a pleasure being a fan from the time Lids laced them up as a rookie until the day he played his last game. It's really cool to watch a whole career play out.

    All purpose Mike Babcock thread

It's a big adjustment for Babs, in Detroit he was always trying to get the most out of a talented group. In Toronto he's trying to get the most out of the exact opposite. You can work your ass off every night but if you don't have much talent you won't win alot of nights. There were so many nights when he was the coach that we would play like garbage for 40 mins and then in the 3rd crank it up and get a win. He can't get that in Toronto. My favorite thing about how this has played out is that they can't beat us. Like a knife in the back.

Play Coach - First Four To Go

Pulk does no good if he's buried on the 4th line when everyone is healthy. Goal scoring is hard to find, as long he is putting up points he stays. Andersson, Ferraro, and a combo of any 2 of 3 ( Kindl, Smith, Marchenko).

Looks like Tyler Bertuzzi is a ****** like his uncle

A dirty slew foot is truculence? More like stupidity.

10/31 GDT: Detroit Red Wings at Ottawa Senators

Can someone on here who is smarter than me tell me what guys on the current roster can go to GR without having to clear waivers. Not a good stretch of hockey but with a new coach and injuries it's to be expected. 20 game mark is my benchmark and usually is a good indication of where we are at. For 20+ years this team has a stretch like this. Hopefully we are getting it out of the way early this year. Oh and we win tonight. 4-1

    Predict Where The Wings Finish

. Interested to know what the reasoning for this is? Classy guy, won at every level

    Predict Where The Wings Finish

With the team we have right this very second we finish 6th and win the cup. When we are healthy we will probably finish 6th and win the cup.

10/24 GDT : Red Wings 3 at Canucks 2 (OT)

I have seen these exact d men make lots of good passes before, everyone of them. When we were playing good hockey last year late all of these guys were making good passes.

10/24 GDT : Red Wings 3 at Canucks 2 (OT)

In 20 + years of being a Wings fan that period ranks in the top 5 or worst i've ever seen. The key to this team has always been transitioning out of our own end, when we are good we come out of our end with ease, when we are bad it looks like that last period. Stop with the fancy wimpy passes and get the damn puck out. How would we know how the lines are playing? We didnt get the puck out of our own end. Nhl.com has us as having 2 give a way's that period, what game are they watching? lol

Jeff Blashill = Dave Lewis 2.0 / Coaching Change

I don't judge anything until we get to the 20 game mark.

10/24 GDT : Red Wings 3 at Canucks 2 (OT)

I hope Marchenko plays good enough not to get sent down again, he's better than 3 of the d on this team right now.

2015 SCF : Chicago Blackhawks vs. Tampa Bay Lightning

I hate the Hawks but we as Red Wings should be flattered by their success...we pounded them for years and they used a very similar blue print to build their team and style of play. Stud d man, 3-4 top notch forwards, great role players and not breaking the bank on a goalie. Crawford is a bend don't break style that is very similar to Ozzy. The more I watched TB the more I realized that their team is Stamkos and goes as he goes. They were forturnate to get by us to be honest.

2015 SCF : Chicago Blackhawks vs. Tampa Bay Lightning

The way the Hawks played now and the way the Wings played from 1996-2002ish is so similar I find. Bend bend bend but never break. The Hawks play some stinkers but reek of confidence when the going gets tough. I could care less who wins. I'm still bitter that we lost to TB on a Coburn knuckle puck.

At what point does the GM deserve credit/blame?

Great post, Bowman is a great hockey mind but in the last few years he was what the Queen is to Canada..a figure head with very little power.
  16. Game 4 was obviously the killer. I agree with Z and Helm. I will give Abby a pass, he was clearly playing with one hand.
  17. For those who have been fans since the early 90's this is the longest personal drought without a cup. 7 years now...not sure if I should be disappointed or if I sound like a spoiled s*** head who's seen his team win 4 cups lol.
  18. All that free money he hasn't earned. Just a boss at the club lol
  19. Did you see Weiss there tonight? Fur coat, looks like he's had 4 concussions, probably drinking expensive s***.
  20. Need to photoshop Weiss hanging from the sign
  21. Helm would've been a 3rd line guy If we were healthy, we were forced to have him in the top 6. No Cole, no Mule and Weiss turning out to be a total hack forced us to play guys where they shouldn't be. Think of our team up front if we are healthy, we would've had a 3rd line with Helm, Shaehan and anyone else really. We are deep on D in terms of NHL caliber guys..Marchenko proved tonight he is NHL ready, Kindl should be in the NHL, Ouelette is arguably ready, Hell we even have a bottom pair guy like Lashoff in the minors who has played at the NHL level. Is Howard trade bait? I hate Phaneuf but I feel like he is another Maple Leaf reclamation project ( Larry Murphy), if we can unload Weiss it would be optimal. Nyquist and Tatar as much as I like both of them are essentially the same player, move one of them and get a different kind of guy up front. Aim high, shoot for Malkin, I dunno. I just feel like the D and Z era is coming to end, I know the feeling, it feels similar to the Yzerman, Shanny, Fedorov era. I am a big supporter of Holland but it's time to remove the filter and make a big move. I love being in the playoffs every year, been a fan for 25 years but losing in the first round is like making a strike first frame of bowling and then throwing it in the gutter for the rest of the game.
  22. That I will agree with lol... The team was in Florida, close to his old stomping ground, wonder if he watched from some seedy humid strip joint.
  23. Z isn't going anywhere but his role needs to be redefined, he's turning into a top 6/9 guy who can kill penalties, play on the pp and win some faceoffs. Reminds me so much of Yzerman in his last few years. Still can help but need to be realistic about it.
  24. I'd assume you have like 462,000 of those pics lined up?
