    It's inevitable (unfortunately)

I'm curious as to why OV is a piece of sh-i-t as you say? Plays hard, plays clean, has fun, scored lots of goals and from everything i've seen and heard he's respected by the other players on and off the ice. Care to elaborate? I'm not sure who the Tampons, Guppies, Quacks or Dives are but as long as the Leafs don't win the cup I will be fine with anyone else.

    Wings Recall Hicketts

I will take a guy like Hicketts over most of the scrubs we have playing D. In the time he's been up he's made good decisions, good passes, plays his position well and plays much bigger than his size. He was our best d man last night hands down which says a lot for a guy who has played less than 5 games in the NHL.
  3. I'm not going to read the list because it's ESPN and after their " 20 most dominant athletes " debacle of a list the other day I can't be bothered but to say the 2008 Wings were a better hockey team than the 2002 squad is insane. Our D was not as good in 2002 but who cares, no one could get the puck from us and we had Lidstrom in his prime. The puck possession on that 2002 team was out of this world. Up front there wasn't a weakness anywhere and we had one of the best checking lines ever assembled. The PP had two of the best right handed PP snipers ever with Hull and Shanny. It would be stretching to find a weakness on the 2002 team. The 2008 team was also obviously a very good team with Z and Pavel in their primes and our top 4 on D was amazing. I'm not taking anything away from them and if we had won the cup in 2009 also my view might be a bit different but I would take 2002 over 2008 all day.

Has Blashill finally lost the team?

And then post game he says crap like " There is a lot of pride in this dressing room, I don't know what tank means. We have to trust the process and play for jobs next year. Who knows we could have a RUN in us yet " blahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

    2018 draft , who's your 2 picks in 1stR

If management doesn't draft a crap ton of d men we are doomed. Absolute dumpster fire back there.

    Wings Interested In Resigning Green

totally agree. Jensen and XO are both expendable. I really thought with Green out and the increased minutes and responsibility Jensen would thrive and maybe prove something. He hasn't. He's a 3rd pair guy. Same with XO. No issue with either of them really but they are exactly what they are. Kronwall needs to hang em up and my verdict is still up in the air on Ericsson. He has been better than average this year.

    Grade the deadline

You're not even making sense. A slappy? Instead of blaming Holland for not trading him you should actually blame him for the NTC/NMC he gave him which Green was well in his rights to exercise as part of his CONTRACT. He gave a two team list to Holland and they couldn't work out a deal with those teams. Read the stories. He wasn't even approached to waive meaning they didn't even get an offer.

Next contracts for the young guns

I say all 3 go to arbitration because to be quite honest I think they all think they are worth more than they actually are. Mantha might be the only one with the stats to back up an arbitration win. AA - 2.5 Mantha - 4. 0 Larkin - 4. 0

    Wings Interested In Resigning Green

Do you realize that for some guys it's about where they are happy in terms of their work and family life? Maybe he see something in this franchise that makes him want to stay. Everyone wants to win but its not everything to everyone.

    Grade the deadline

How is the lack of a Green trade a failure. Guy hasn't played in 3 weeks. McDonaugh and Karlsson were ahead of him in the pecking order. It's been reported that he wasn't even asked to waive his no trade which means that although he gave a list there was no interest and the Wings were never even forced to ask him to waive. Can't trade a guy if no one wants him.
  11. Looks weird. Good luck to Tatar. Hope he can score the 5.3 million worth of goals he wasn't getting for us.
  12. 5.3 milly off he books is huge for this franchise going forward.
  13. If we got 3 picks for Tatar and unloaded 5.3 million is salary I will be giddy. Apparently it's a 1st in 2018, 2nd in 2019 and 3rd in 2022 2021
  14. I think the big team always comes first.

If Draper is the next GM, I don't think I mind it

I would 100 % go outside of the organization for a GM. This franchise needs a fresh start in a lot of areas and GM is one of them.

    2/18 GDT - Maple Leafs @ Red Wings - 7:00 PM EST

Lets count how many things we did wrong on that game winner. 1. Bad icing 2. Win draw and lose possession 3. Jensen muscled off the puck 4. Larkin on the wrong side of the puck 5. DK laying on his stomach 6. Mrazek overplaying his position ( his biggest flaw )

    Rumors Thread

I don't think anyone will trade for Jensen. He has not played enough tough minutes. I thought for sure this year we would get to see him get a little battle tested but he continues to get sheltered minutes. I would keep Jensen over Ouellet all day. At least Jensen has some up side still. There are 75 d men in the league exactly like Ouellet. As for Ericcson. If he is ever going to get trade it would be right now. He's had a pretty good season for his standards and his value couldn't be higher.
  18. Anyone notice Abdelkader isn't playing today?..........yea me either.

    2018 ALL STAR GAME THREAD

I will use the word better. I won't use good. I will give him credit. He has been a lot better this year. Have to him some kind or praise when all we've done is crap on him for 2 years.

    2018 ALL STAR GAME THREAD

Green doesn't need to be showcased. Teams know exactly what they are getting with him. We should've send Ericsson. He's played pretty good but a little extra ego boost couldn't hurt. Can you imagine how bad he would be in a 3 on 3 format haha

    Mid Season Awards

After last night we are officially at the mid way point of the season and sit a very boring and mediocre 17-17-7. I thought it would be fun to come up with some mid season awards. Feel free to add other ones if you wish. MVP : Jimmy Howard - He has been our best player this year. Kept us in a lot of games. Hopefully he gets back soon. I've really enjoyed watching him play this year. Best Forward - Dylan Larkin - Hard to pick someone out of this bunch, we have no one on pace for 30 goals or 70 pts. Larkin needs to score more but his all around game has improved and he gets my nod Best D man - Mike Green - Plays the most, has the most points. He's been pretty consistent overall. Biggest surprise - Martin Frk - 8 goals in limited minutes for a guy who was once a castaway, it's possible with increased minutes he could get 15 goals. Biggest disspointment - Frans Nielsen - I'm trying really hard to see what he's bringing, I get it he's a good two way player but he has 15 pts in 41 games. Not good enough for that kind of money Feel free to add, discuss and give your own opinion

Standings, the good the bad and the ugly

I keep looking at the standings and seeing Vegas and it makes me chuckle. Think of this, if they went on a 20 game losing streak starting right now they would be 29-30-2 and still would be having a very good expansion year.
