I agree, a 3rd rounder for a guy with 0 points. Vanek might be worth 11 first rounders
-
If any team could make a player out of him it would be the Hawks but I think we will see Jurco playing on the 4th line most of the time or in the press box just like he was in Detroit. Super happy we got a 3rd for him. This is the Hawks style though. High risk, high reward type moves.

Adios Jurco, nice knowing you. Over valued by almost everyone on this site.

2/18 GDT - Capitals at Red Wings - 2:00 PM EST
puckbags replied to MabusIncarnate's topic in 2016-17
Mrazek looks sharp. We need to clear pucks out of our own end. I notice that all the good teams hammer pucks out when they are in trouble. We try to finesse it out every time and it just doesn't work. -
I have never predicted in a GDT thread that we will lose and I won't start now. Wings win 4-2 ........................or we don't and we continue to ask ourselves why the hell hasn't the last place team in the east with the highest payroll canned their coach yet.
-
For the love of everything can we please fire our coach
-
A lot of fancy stuff there for a team that is 1 point out of last in the east, hasn't won a Cup since Yzerman joined the team and has the 6th highest payroll in the league with a star player who can't stay healthy. Oh and just to note. After Stamkos resigned with the Lightning in the summer it was quite clear that he had no intentions but to stay in TB. All the hype of him leaving was fueled by hockey media. I measure success in Stanley Cups and they have just as many as we do since Yzerman joined the Lightning. We can argue all day what team has the brighter future but as it sits right now it doesn't look good for either.

If Holland stays, flips this roster, makes 7 good trades, drafts brilliantly and we win the cup in 2019 somehow it would be all because of Scotty Bowman.

Multiple reports on twitter that Howard left the game tonight with an injured leg...yep that leg . Ho hum. Ansar Khan Retweeted Pete Wallner @petewallner 31m31 minutes ago More #RedWings Jimmy Howard left the ice after a timeout with #Griffins. He appeared to be favoring his leg. He was replaced.

Jonathan Ericsson out with fractured wrist, no timetable for return.

He plays with one hand on his stick most of the time, we should keep him in the lineup. -

Your opinion obviously. His cap hit is 4.25. He plays 20 mins a game, he's a big body, veteran, good teammate. I'm not sure what you think guys get paid now a days but his cap hit wouldn't be the issue for a team willing to take a chance. For his tenure, minutes per game and skill set his cap hit is about right. Whether you or I think he's a good player or not ( I don't ) isn't our decision. Market determined what he got paid. The NTC is an issue I was unaware of. I'm sure he wouldn't waive that. Doesn't matter now. He's damaged goods. -

Exactly, this actually has a negative impact on the team because now we can't trade him. The injury also makes it less likely we are moving Smith. I'm not a huge E fan but I would never wish for anyone to get hurt especially a long time Wing who in his career has played some good hockey and has been a class act for this organization. 4 out of those 6 d man have a lot to prove and everyone of them will get ample playing time to do so. -

He barely touched him but they call it every time. Typical NHL reffing. Moral victory's are for losers but we deserved better tonight. -

Good period by us. I'm not entirely sure why Ericsson has no idea how to play his position. In it's simplest form playing D in your own end is pretty simple. Puck goes into the corner on your side you go in the corner and make a play. When it's in your d partners corner you cover the front of the net. Look at E on the Werenski chance early in the period. Jensen is in the corner and for some reason E decides to move over towards the corner and leave the whole other half of the ice wide open. Just a complete mental break down. People used to whine when we didn't fight enough. They bring Ott in and he's willing to do all the things those people want but now they don't want him on the team because he sucks and some middling AHL prospect should be up playing. I could care less either wayabout the fighting but having Ott in the lineup doesn't hurt this team. -

He's actually in the lineup tonight, he will be centering Boyd Devereaux and Dan Cleary -
Didnt see this posted yet but Marchenko has been waived to make room for Smith returning to the lineup. Discuss... ugh. Ansar Khan@AnsarKhanMLive Following More #RedWings waive Alexey Marchenko to make room for Brendan Smith, when they activate him tomorrow.

02/04 GDT : Red Wings vs Nashville Predators : 8:00 PM ET

I feel bad for the guy in a way. Everytime he touches the puck now it seems like he is literally trying to beat the puck up with his stick. Totally over thinking it now. When he went out of the game I was trying to figure out how we were going to replace his scoring in the lineup. -

You and I are going to look like clowns if Jensen starts sucking. I'm all in on that guy. -
I will repeat, have you been watching. He's a great skater, has moved the puck well, makes very few mistakes and he's played 15 games in the NHL. If he's as bad as you say he is they would've sent him back down at the 9 game mark. He was playing too good to send back down. I don't care if he's been playing 1st or 3rd pairing minutes. He has been very good. If you can't see that you clearly aren't watching the same games. His play alone forced them to make other difficult roster moves like waiving Marchenko. If he had been playing terrible they send him down at the 9 game mark ( he doesn't have to go through waivers) and they play Marchenko or Sproul.

I was doing it more as a " thanks for the memories" type gift from LGW but I like the bribery option too

I will pack his bags and drive him to the airport. We could start a gofundme page to pay for his plane ticket.
